  1. It is much more fun to run through a flashback as a mini-game adventure, say as Forton. Instead of just sitting back and watching it on video. The one difference is that flashback adventurers are more railroad-y because the outcome is predetermined in many ways. Now if you could change the past with a flashback mini-game that would be beyond cool when the Official companion turns out to be different because of decisions you made in the flashback adventure. As I recall, Suikoden also makes use of a short section where the main character is not in the party and his friends are adventuring to rescue him.
  2. At $2.6M, Obsidian added the Adventurer's Hall to the world. If you don't like a companion, or if you don't like any of the companions, you can build your own custom parties to play through the game. 6 races and 11 classes have been confirmed for Project Eternity. There are sixty-six (66) potential race-class combinations from godlike rangers to aumaua paladins. The player's main character will take up one of those options and Official companions will fill up seven to eight of the other possible combinations (your main character may or may not overlap with one of the companions). Do you think you'll hire someone from the Adventurer's Hall? Can you permanently make a hired adventurer part of your Player House or Stronghold if you plan to swap them in and out of your party regularly? I suspect that at least half of my party will not be the main companions so I want to make heavy use of the Adventurer's Hall.
  3. Gaining a stronghold in Saad and suddenly being addressed as Marquis de Saad instead of Frank the Fighter would, indeed, rock!
  4. If there is an infinite amount of experience points available in the game setting, then leveling up each character separately is possible. Otherwise, you're actually precluded from leveling up everyone. Separately leveling for characters not in the party would require respawn monster or unlimited repeatable quests to grind through and gain XP separately for the alternate characters you want to be viable for your party.
  5. I totally want to put my stronghold on an island.
  6. Cadegund and Edair are the two I favor based on what has been revealed so far.
  7. What is everyone's favorite companion or two from the six announced so far? http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showpost.php?p=779950&postcount=3
  8. Sounds like an interesting storyline for an opponent of the PC.
  9. There are real-world belief systems about souls that are almost the same as what Chris was describing. 1. The sense of self is divided into multiple parts or souls. The body, the animalistic urges, the intellect, and the eternal soul. The soul itself is not the thinking part and the soul is not responsible for evil actions. or 2. The sense of self is the unique combination of the soul and the body. As they blend together and interact, that is when a "person" is created. When the body dies and the soul is combined with a new body, a "new" person is created. The newly incarnated person is somewhat similar to the dead person because half of their being is the same but they're uniquely different people because of the influence of the half that isn't shared. Free will is an important concept to many people and many religions and in both of the instances above it would be debatable if the soul is sometimes in conflict with your free will or if the soul's desires are the true free will that is being perverted by the non-soul elements of the person.
  10. A simple prison where, once your stronghold has it, you could choose to capture defeated enemies (or at least key characters) instead of murder them and then visit them later for future conversation in your dungeon!
  11. Would this be like Materia from Final Fantasy?
  12. Make the best PC game possible? Sure. Does that preclude a console version? No, it doesn't. My vote for a console would be PlayStaion. -Aaron
  13. I don't want to be forced to play the same game multiple times just to experience the best features. 'A or B but not both' choices force you to play through the game a second or possibly even a third time. I'd rather it be possible to do all the cool stuff and have all the fun, if you want, the first time I play through the game. Replay should be about having the game be fun a second time and not be about forcing you to play through the game at least twice just to experience the best parts of the game.
  14. Let our choices, in conversations and actions, dictate the non-combat results instead of fake numbers designed to mathematically describe a morals/personality.
  15. How about miniature (small bird sized) fantasy animals. Miniature dragon, miniature phoenix, imp, etc.
  16. Remove potions from the game entirely. No potions. Ever. Do we really need to continually pump steroids like Tour de France cyclists or major league sports players in order to play a roleplaying game? The concept of potions sucks as does their execution across numerous games (including pen and paper D&D).
  17. Probably the best computer game stronghold I have ever encountered was in Suikoden. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suikoden_(video_game) I encourage anyone working on Project Eternity stronghold mechanics/design to play all the way through Suikoden. Lots of companions/alternate party members as well.
