  1. Huh, well thats quite a change. So the rumors are true. While the fear is big that the games Obsidian and inXile will produce now will be console ports and/or more casual games then hardcore RPG niche games, there is at least this quote from Microsoft: So at least this sounds to me that they still want these companies to produce their games mainly on PC and creating RPGs. But it would be good to know if Obsidian will now produce more casual games for the mass market (that would really be a bummer...) or if they will still produce similiar games like today.
  2. Sounds very promising! Pillars of eternity got an 8/10 last time from the magazine and now 9,5/10. Nice.
  3. Hi all, does anyone know at what time the review embargo is lifted? Can we expect the first reviews and test scores soon from Australia and Russia, maybe today/tonight (i am living in europe)? It is already the 8th in australia! I can barely contain my hype!
  4. If you guys go to the IGN live youtube you can go back to the interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaYO4a4SsTs Since it is a live stream it should at the moment be at the end of the video. It comes right after the pokemon game. EDIT: Too slow
  5. Well the ign interview went pretty well in my opinion. The new effects and lightning looked pretty good. Not so much new information was revealed but I guess we have now a first look at how the fighting System has changed. I also like that the prerequisites in the dialoge are now presented as little Icons. And the hand drawn portraits which I didnt like in the beginning are okay I think. Oh and then there was the release window Q1 2018 mentioned!
  6. Is it confirmed that takehu is a moon godlike? I was under the impression that he has his own special godlike race like pallegina.
  7. Feargus confirmed in the comments that paypal pledges after the campaign will add towards the Stretch goals Text form because i am too lazy to make a screenshot "Yes, we will continue to add pledges we get after the campaign for a while. We will have to have a cut off date though, since we need to know what we have to put in the game." So maybe we will get a little PayPal boost to reach the 5 mill...or at least the other unanounnced stretch Goals
  8. THAT VIDEO WITH JOSH. Could not stop laughing. Great stuff!
  9. There will be 3 subclasses for every class to choose from right at the beginning when you choose a base class or if you multiclass for the first time. There will be no advancement of a subclass. Which is good in my opinion. Except priest and paladin, because their subclass is the deity and order and I think Obsidian mentioned that they want to at least include all choices from PoE 1. So these two classes will probably have more subclasses to choose from.
  10. I just looked up on kicktraq how many backers PoE 1 had and how the trend was progressing. They got 30k in the first two days, that is really amazing. If you take into account that at round about 35% of the kickstarter campaign Obsidian reached about 60% of their total backer amount, you could compare that to fig (we compare just the trend so it should be valid to a certain point) we should then reach about 34000 backer in the end. That would mean if we start at 20.500 backer there would be approximately 9 islands. But I dont know how the "Invest" option can skew this thought process.
  11. That makes me really happy! Also it is a good idea to include all portraits from POE1. That means there is a much bigger pool of portraits to choose from. Yeah, those IWD portraits are pretty amazing too. It would be difficult for me to choose between those and those from BG. Yup, those were great. On topic, I really like the artstyle but I hope they change the background. Anyway, I'll wait to see them in-game to judge. Maybe if they show a video how it will look like in the game sometime in the future i will change my opinion. The point is I can really understand why they would go with easier to create portraits.
  12. Well if that is true I am fine with the decision because i make myself no illusion of how expensive it is to create just one portrait in the style they have done before. That is probably the best way to give some merchants/quest npcs/enemies a "face" (even if I dont like the portraits ). Would be interesting to see how two different style of portraits fits the aesthetical look of the game!
  13. Hey guys, so, I am really stoked to play POE2. I love POE 1 and everything in it and I am glad that I can help crowdfunding a sequel. Even with the decision to play with a party of 5 instead of 6 I am on board with now (was against it when I first read the announcement but I decided to trust Obsidian that it will be a better experience). So up until now there were only amazing bits and bytes to read about the sequel and really cool stretch goals....right until today.... I am really sad to say that I absolutly despise the watercolor-style portraits, if they stay the same which they are right now in update 4 (really strong word, I know). I dont know why, but I love the detailed and colorful portraits in BG1/2 and POE1. I never had a problem with the fact that only a fraction of the npcs had a individual portrait. I really try to like the waterstyle-portraits but they just doesnt work for me at all (assuming they are exactly looking like in update 4). So my questions: Are those the same portraits for the recruitable npcs? It would be strange to have two different types of portraits for npcs (and/or main char) but I really dont want those watercolor-style portraits for my party. I guess it would be okay for me if they are only for non-recruitable-characters (I just waiting for someone to throw the words "wait for a mod" at me). But if they use the POE1-style portraits for all recruitable-characters and the watercolor-style for every other, i am 100% onboard with the decision and the stretch goal! And how do you like the portraits? Like i said, I really wish I would like the Portraits but I am a sucker for those detailed POE1/BG/BG2 portraits.
  14. No, my cipher has a bow as a first and a gun as a second weapon set
  15. Hey guys, i just discovered a double description when selecting amplified thrust. Is just a small and tiny thing but I want to report it. Keep up the great work!
  16. I feel really sorry for Obsidian. There is group A, which wanted the limerick out of the game because they think it is offensive, group B, which think the limerick was not offensive at all and are angry that Obsidian gave in and removed the poem and at last group C who really dont care (yes, im in group C). I can only imagine Josh reading the first complains and thinking "oh god, thats really f***ed up" because NO MATTER what they were going to do after group A and B started to fight, there was no perfect solution. Either group A or B would be going rampage (or both). Now we have group A who thinks "we won, SJW4tehwin" and which will probably now will always try to start crying if there is something they dont like. And group B which feels "betrayed" because of the extreme massive "censorship" and the downfall of "free speech" (blabla). I dont find the limerick offensive and dont care if it is not in the game because there is no change in the gameplay whatsoever. PLEASE let Obsidian concentrate on the big issues with the game and can you PLEASE forgive them for making a decision (right or wrong). Blame me if you like, I can take it. In many threads there are people who say they wont back the next game because they dont like game mechanics, Story, RTwP which is all totaly understandable, but when people are whining because Obsidian tries to defuse a heated topic I lose myself. Im sorry if you are in the wronged group, I really hope you can still enjoy the game and you are not resentful
  17. Chanter can summon units. Though not at the start of the fight... EDIT: There are a lot of items which summons units for you also!
  18. Yeah its really just for random NPCs. On the map with the broken bridge to Defiance Bay there is a backer NPC on the edge which you can kill without problems, however the backer NPCs which stand before the bridge give reputation loss when you kill them. Same with Gilded Vale, the two NPCs in the house north i could kill but outside i get a reputation loss. Dont know if it has anything to do with line of sight to other NPCs
  19. I always kill the persons instead of imprisoning them because otherwise you dont get their items (correct me if im wrong) and that can be unique ones. The only time i locked someone up he escaped after 2 days.....Nice. Anybody can tell me what you get or can do if you lock someone up?
  20. I really like the combat system in PoE and after reading many BB's reviews I thought that wouldnt be the case. I really love BG1+2, they are my favourite games so far but for me, Obsidian has done a great job in PoE as well. Granted, there are some flaws like the spamming of the per encounter abilites in every fight can get tedious or that the fights are often to short to use buffs accordingly but overall im reaaally happy. Mind you that the old IE games are far from perfect, with mages going insane in late game fights, insane amount of backstab damage or enemy mages starting with huge amount of protection spells each fight (I never liked that) as just some examples. It was perfect for IE Veterans because they know how to work with some of the sometimes extrem OP stuff in the game. They tried some new stuff in PoE which is a good idea overall and some deviation from the IE battle system and not just a 1:1 copy is what I hoped for. The engagement system is okay-ish IMO, I just think A) there need to be more abilities to safely disengage and B) fights need to be last longer to compensate no Pre-Buffing (every character deals less damage maybe). But with 30 hours into the game I cant say I hate the combat
  21. Yeah I thought in the end there would be a single quest where the Dozens say "Do A" and the Knights "Do B" and there you must choose your faction...I wish I could say "Look, I did some quest for you but in the end I really dont care about your people" and then the other faction is like "That was great <3! You are with us now" I am not as far as you and havent tried to go into the animancy hearing...but it seems then that i am stuck too. The Deomonel family is still alive in my playthrough currently but I dont want to get along with them
  22. I've got the same problem. I allied with both factions and now the Knights wont give me more quests because of my relation to the Dozens. I got a save file with the dialog Option from commander clyver not choosen (the one u mentioned), but if I load this save file, run to the Dozens HQ and kill everyone (Reputation Scoundrel) I still got the same answer from Commander Clyver...seems like because im allied with both factions right now I cant choose a faction anymore. I heard that PoE has an ending similar to New Vegas where you get like an story of all the things you have done over the course of the game...and not be able to choose a faction sucks really. I mean, I didn't try to choose the Dozens as a faction at this point, but I wanted to go with the Knights and it seems it is not possible anymore....and I missed maybe a cool quest. Maybe in my next run I need to try to be more careful...but I think I never got a "warning" that "do this quest and this faction/both factions will not give u more stuff to do"
  23. A 10 from IGN???? Holy crap. I hope it does so well across all reviews. The US IGN score will be interesting as well
  24. Same here. Finished preloading yesterday and today PoE was downloading some 200mb data. Could be the compressed patch
  25. The game release is 26th march. They told every backer and non-backer that they can play the game on the 26th. They never said something else. If they select a handful of people and give them a key 3 days before release because they put them on a level with journalists, then this is a buisness decision with little to no impact for the backers and which doesnt bother me in the slightest. Its an additional opportunity for non-backers to help them decide if they preorder or not and to promote the game. Sorry, but I cant understand people being mad about this small decision just because it is "unfair". That reason is just not enough. I dunno about the treatment of the kickstarter backers. Maybe some people think that they didnt had enough influence in the development of the game...I personaly am quite content with everything, but there were so many backers, if some of some had a different interaction between backer and developer in mind, thats understandable. Many people DID complain about the price of the game, and many people DO watch people playing games over twitch and co., so this can be a big help for them to decide to buy the game and if its worth it. Heck, maybe there are still many gamers who dont know about the game....
