Anecdote from personal life: I failed my BA at my first uni with the explanation that "Your work is really good. It is post graduate level really but you understand that this is a graduate degree and for this you have to provide graduate level work." In the same week the majority of post-grads failed their two year master with the explanation by the course director that: "I know this is what Robert* asked you to do, but he is dead isn't he?" *the main professor of their course had unexpectedly died shortly before the final presentation. The course director who took over after his death had different views on Architecture... I got my diploma at a different uni in a different country. I did ok. Could have done better had I applied myself more, but by then I was rather disillusioned with the whole proccess. From my experience, complaints and statements don't actually do anything. If professors pull these stunts its usually because they can get away with it. But it's always good to do something. If there is a proper procedure, do it. On one hand you never know, on the other you'll not feel as if you had just let them do whatever they wanted.

That was his point

Only game I can remember getting this year without having to think really really hard is Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. For me this had the added magic of being a kickstarter I had backed

You put a LOT of effort into it, so it's natural to be dissappointed when your work doesn't get the deserved recognition. Nobody will care about the grade once you get your first job though. And professors are just human beings. That means they are petty, vindictive sods like everybody else. And quite a few of them are only lording it over students because university was the only place that would accept them.

I keep meaning to ask, is the typo in your signature intentional?

I got Fallen Enchantress. Seems like a good game, but haven't had time to do more than have a glance at it. Also got Walking Dead now that all episodes are out. Can't remember if I got anything else. Mostly wasn't interested in anything.

This forum has been amazingly spam free. A couple of weeks ago there was an enormous spam bot attack all over the net. This forum seemed to have been unscathed.

*looks at BruceVC's location* I met some teachers once at a conference, from the poor part of Soweto. Admirable job they do.

Thank God TV has evolved then. Twilight may be terrible, but if glorifying gun toting mountains of muscl is the alternative, sign me up for Team Edward. If/when I have kids, I hope they will appreciate Alan Shore more than Rambo (once old enough to watch either). And if it has to be something with guns and saving people, then DiCaprio as Danny Archer is still prefered to Stalone's John Rambo.

Not really. Sub-standard curricula educational systems that only prepare for set standardised tests teachers who work too many hours in classes with too many students for them to be able to actually pay attention to them facilities in various states of disrepair parents who need to work two jobs because with one 8 hour shift a day the below minimum wage income isn't enough to raise a kid (as if minimum wage was) Then we have all those countries that ask for specialists with 5 year experience for every other job, but people can become teachers without any prior training whatsoever. On the lines of "Couldn't cope it in the industry? Don't worry, go stand in a classroom." Could go on. And on. Won't though

Ah, so it was universaly aggravating regardless of input method edit: If I ever start a second attempt I'll mail you the save-game once I get there

Did you play Overlord 2? All my friends who don't own a controller quit at the spot. So did I. Circling those spider riding minions up that wall drove me nuts. I ehar though its managable with a 'troller.

Eat them both, Khem. My Sith'lek assassin looks like the evil twin sister of the jedi in Black Talon. Has made every group I have run that flashpoint with laugh

Jedi didn't capture my attention early on. I loved the first chapter of the smuggler arc and am loving Imperial Agent. Though I only have gotten to the part you get your ship. The smuggler arc seriously disappointed me later on by not being able to make me care about the villain. Act 3 picked back up, but it just wasn't the same anymore. Now I am a bit worried about the Agent arc Worst part about any story that isnt female smuggler? They aren't voiced by Kathy Soucie.

I guess for a new keyboard setup you'd have to overcome muscle memory while with a controller you'd have to create new muscle memory. In one instance the body wants to instinctively do something else, in the other the body is clueles as to what to do.

Watched the guys at the office do the monthly recycling: gather all paper waste and toss it out a second story window, so they wouldn't have to carry it.

I am a WASD+Mouse person. I resist controllers as much as I can. I am a proud PC gamer and feel that companies who wish to cater to certain audiences (and get their money) should make the extra effort to then adapt their product to those audiences. If there was a PC-Pride Parade I'd be there marching in it I gave up on Sleeping Dogs when I couldn't figure out how to look up and then, when I finally reached the place I needed to be, had to endure a (for me) horrible QTE trying to break away from cops trying to cuff me. Some games are just not made to be enjoyed by some people. Fair enough, i can live with that. Besides, I still need to manage to beat most scenarios in Fate of the World, finish the Anno 2070 campaign, finish the Frozen Synapse campaign...

Aaargh! I have to catch up! Oh and pertinent to the discussion so this can slip through the spam rules : Know a couple of left handed gamers. It was especially wierd when we were kids and they had to cross their hands in wierd ways to use a joystick. Also: when on a motorcycle in Sleeping Dogs and you stop at a red traffic light. How do you look up to see when the traffic light changes to green?

After the terrible FF8 port all I have to say is "Wow! Square figured out PC games need a Quit Game option!"

What are you playing now - the plays the thing

The end hass to be climatic. I guess as a lot of players do not have the patience or attention span to go through a long dialogue driven end (and it is difficult to do for the writers), using assets that are already there (hordes of stock enemies) is the way out. Which is why for me the most memorable game ending is and remains Arcanum, having the long chat with Kerghan. -

I found that you have to be in the right mood to get into Walking Dead. But once you overcome that first hurdle its just as hard to let go as it was to get in -
DA:O vanilla was a good game (if you turn a blind eye to certain parts of the story and play the characters with the personality the writers want you to have). Stone Prisoner was a good DLC (well content cut from the game and turned into launch day DLC). I was even tempted to rebuy it, then I realised I'd have Return to Ostagar and everything that came after it... that would just annoy me to knowingly spend money on I keep looking at the Steam page in case the expansion for Anno 2070 gets a better sale than the 33%

I had played and loved the previous Alice game and just couldn't get into the sequel.
