Kinda sucks that whether Mahomes clears concussion protocol or not will likely decide who represents the AFC in the Superbowl.

I was not aware that the word "moist" had been cancelled. When did this happen and why? I think it's a perfectly cromulent word.

@BruceVCThere is nothing wrong with open world per se, the problem is oversaturation. This issue isn't exclusive to video games either. Once super hero movies became popular then very quickly the market became oversaturated with super hero movies. When a particular style of music becomes popular very quickly the market gets flooded with other artists that sound extremely similar. Any media that becomes a big time business invariably becomes directed less and less by artists and more and more by committees and focus groups. When there's a lot of money at stake, companies will follow trends rather than artistic vision. I like to play open world games from time to time, particularly of the Eurojank type, but I also like a more linear game too. There are advantages to linear games, especially when it comes to the pacing of the story. I like variety in my gaming, but at the AAA level gaming has become increasingly homogenized. Thankfully, there are indies.

I thought the Ravens had gotten their **** together. I am a fool.

The Chiefs are so good that they got bored and sleepwalked their way through the second half of the season. It will be interesting to see whether they can just flip the switch or if it takes them a while (potentially too long) to get into gear.

The annual Nic Cage I'll star in any pile of garbage to pay for my dinosaur skull collection has produced a whole bunch of terrible movies that are just plain terrible with the occasional B movie gem. Statistically, Willy's Wonderland, which I guess is a 5 Nights at Freddy's knock off, is much more likely to land in the just plain terrible pile than the so bad it's good pile and that trailer did nothing to sway me the other way.

Not quite the level of aplology Squeenix did after the initial FFXIV launch, where all the execs stood on stage quite literally with their heads bowed in shame, but it's closer to that than to the usual non-apology we get *cough* FO76 *cough*. I appreciate that he didn't throw his developers under the bus and took the blame himself.

I'm honestly getting pretty burned out on open world in general. Maybe it's not so much open world but instead how every AAA game has to check every single check box: Open world, RPG, action adventure, looter, survival, narrative, exploration with crafting, building, collecting, and multi-player.

They're putting Xs at the end of mobile SKUs now because it's well known that putting an X on something adds at least 5% performance, kind of how a racing stripe on a car adds a minimum of 20 horsepower. That's probably why Microsoft uses so many Xs in their console names.

That was a brutally boring corporate circle jerk of a keynote, even by corporate circle jerk standards. The takeaway is mobile Zen 3 in Q1 and more RDNA2 desktop cards and RDNA2 mobile coming H1, no specifics given. Also, new EPYC chips coming, again, no specifics. Pretty much a waste of an hour. I did get a chuckle out of the Not Mass Effect music at the beginning.

What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life
Keyrock replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
I'm on chapter 12 in my NG+ run of Y:LaD, this is where you reach Sotenbori and, more importantly, the battle arena, which is far and away the best place to grind in the game. Purely for money purposes, the management mini-game is the fastest way to get rich in the game, but the battle arena gives out the most exp, you get high-end crafting components, and you make a good chunk of change to boot. Once I get everyone to rank 40 in every job (I won't lie, this will take a while), I can blitz through the rest of the game in a sitting, two tops, and be well prepared for Legend difficulty. As an aside, one of these days I really need to take the time to learn some of the asian gambling games. There is a metric ****ton of them in all the Yakuza games and I'm completely clueless when it comes to them. -
Is Big Ben done? I don't want to retire a guy over one game but boy oh boy did he look done yesterday. Steelers will be paying him something like 40 million next year, yikes!

If you are a Colts fan you have to be sick to your stomach. They had so many opportunities to put that game away. Props to Josh Allen and the Bills for that epic 96 yard drive, though.

I'm certainly not against Obs making a Shadowrun game, but I'm with Hurlshot, I'd rather Harebrained Schemes made another one. I can't imagine anyone nailing the tone and feel any better than they did.

I want to say that this is the low key best The Who song: At the same time I have a sneaking suspicion that everybody else also thinks this is the best The Who song and I just don't know about it.

When I was younger I didn't really appreciate how utterly brilliant a comic Norm Macdonald is. I'm mad at myself for that.

As a truck driver, I thankfully have to deal with people for a very small percentage of my job, but alas I can't avoid people entirely. I have learned a couple tricks of the trade when speaking to people that I think apply accross a multitude of industries: 1) Under no circumstance ever bring up politics. 2) If the other party brings up politics make like a politician, ironically enough, and give as evasive and noncommittal a reply as possible. 3) If #2 occurs make every effort to exit the conversation as quickly as possible without being flat out rude.
