  1. I mean, that's a good policy with any new device. Being an early adopter always comes with caveats.
  2. Hands-on impressions (Warning: Sexy Bearded Linus):
  3. I just really hate trash mob fights in general. Games ought to have an auto-resolve button that pops up any time you encounter an exact composition of enemies that you have successfully dispatched at least 5 times. If you press the button the enemies vanish and you get your obligatory 2 exp and 3 pennies.
  4. R.I.P. "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, age 62. Best known for being 1/2 of the Midnight Express, widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams ever, Bobby was one of my personal wrestling heroes.
  5. You gotta keep em separated socially distanced.
  6. I want this game, like, yesterday.
  7. In fairness, The Silmarillion needs HEAVY modification to adapt to the screen. I very recently listened to The Silmarillion on audiobook and I couldn't imagine a very faithful adaptation on the screen. Some people get really upset over movie or TV show adaptations taking liberties with the source material, but they need to understand that not all, I'd go so far as to say very few, novels adapt well to the screen without serious modifications.
  8. I liked both Dredd movies, the Stalone one and the Karl Urban one.
  9. We used to call Ritalin "Trailer Park Cocaine".
  10. I should add that I'm playing the game with Russian VO and English subtitles, for the maximum realistic experience. Well, I guess maximum realistic would be Russian VO and Russian subtitles or no subtitles, but then I wouldn't understand what anyone is saying.
  11. Some early thoughts on Chernobylite: The game is not exactly what I expected. It's part first person... adventure, I guess, and part management game. After the prologue you have a base which you can furnish. There is a building system where you can craft stations, gear, furniture, etc. You can the put these wherever you want. The basic gameplay loop is that you assign people to go on missions, including yourself. There is a chance of success indicated by a percentage based on a number of factors, except for you since chance of success is obviously determined by gameplay. You start with 1 other person, Olivier, and you can recruit more as you go along. People can die on missions or depending on your choices (supposedly there are multiple endings). You complete missions to satisfy prerequisites for the main mission, which is to enter the plant, and to get supplies. You need to assemble a crew and get intel and gear to do the main mission. The game so far is quite light on combat, which is fine with me. Radiation has been the biggest threat for me. There is a time travel mechanic. When you die you return to this sort of nether world where you can return to things you did previously and change choices if you wish. Chernobylite is not what I thought it would be, but I'm enjoying it so far. The environments are very immersive, both visually and especially audibly. The sound design in the game is top notch. Don't expect a shooty shooty action game, though.
  12. I don't think streaming services have to disclose viewership numbers, so we don't necessarily know how many people watch Nu Trek shows. I think CBS and Paramount are desperately trying to generate as much content as possible for their platforms, quality of said content is secondary to quantity. There are 764,423,227 different paid streaming services right now, that is not a sustainable model. Eventually things will shake out leaving only a handful.
  13. Appropriately, Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is the 27th Sherlock Holmes game from Frogwares.
  14. So it's your fault. /grabs pitchfork
  15. Saved so that it can kill again!
  16. Remember, "if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."
  17. There is no end to the nightmare in sight.
  18. A new update on Valheim:
  19. Thanks for the heads up on the BGR vs RGB issue. The G27Q is a no go because it lacks 1 key feature, a USB-C input. This is a deal-breaker. I mean, displayport to USB-C adapters are a thing, but an adapter is something I would use when reusing an existing monitor, if I'm buying new I'll just get a monitor that has the input I need. Not familiar with that specific model, but Seasonic has for a long time been the gold standard in PSUs.
  20. Right now the lead candidates for the monitor I plan to replace the ancient one in my truck are the Gigabyte M32Q and M27Q. They're essentially the same monitor just different size. The current monitor in the truck is 27", but I could absolutely fit a 32" monitor. Besides the difference in size both are 2560x1440p, 170Hz, Freesync Premium (not sure what the difference between Freesync and Freesync Premium is, my guess is nothing more than 7 letters), and have a USB-C input; they check all the boxes. I won't be home for a while so there's no hurry, plenty of time to shop around. I'd like to keep the cost <=$400.
  21. Lieutenant Reginald Barclay is on my top shelf of reoccurring Star Trek characters, along with Chancellor Gowron, Ensign Ro Laren, and Q.
  22. I've been keen to play an American Football game, it's been too long since I have. I'll very likely pick this up, largely on account of it being Not Madden. EA can go **** themselves.
  23. I like it so far, but I'm super early in the game, way too early to pass any meaningful judgement on it. I liked all the games I've previously played from The Farm 51: Painkiller: Hell and Damnation, Deadfall Adventures (I downright loved that game), and Get Even. The game has a photo mode, but I haven't used it yet, all the pictures I took naturally during gameplay. I'll mess around with photo mode and post some screenies soon. The pictures taken are 2560x1440 with all settings max except motion blur off (not for performance reasons, I just hate motion blur) and with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) on the "Balanced" setting. This was my first time trying FSR, this game has both FSR and DLSS baked in. I'm pretty impressed, especially given that FSR only released a month ago, if that. I imagine DLSS performs better, given how much more mature it is, and I would be keen to do a comparison, but I have the wrong color video card and Jensen doesn't like to share his toys with the other kids at kindergarten.
