  1. Those are very good questions. Going by the Kickstarter site alone, there's 2355 boxes that need to be signed. And a lot more since the backer portal went live. I know I wouldn't like to be signing over 2000+ boxes. And I wonder how they'll be sending these boxes between Obsidian and Paradox.
  2. I'm hoping the beta demo will be available from the Obsidian Eternity site (unlikely) or GOG. I prefer not to use Steam. And yeah, Free wi-fi is pretty good in China. It's great when you just connect and no need for passwords or anything. Just connect and start surfing the net. Been there quite a few times all over the country. Beijing, Chengde, Tianjin, Shanghai, Wuxi, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Jiangsu, Huangshan mountain, Shenzhen, etc.. With this trip, I'll mainly be around Jiangsu (staying on an island on the Yangtze river) and taking a week in Sichuan, Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou Valley, Mount Emei and Leshan.
  3. I doubt it. I recall Brandon saying they're not worried about people posting the gameplay to twitch/youtube.
  4. I'm hoping this is more of a combat/character creation tech demo than anything else. Part of me doesn't want to know the story and would rather wait until it's fully released. I'll be waiting for people to mention what it will be like. If it's a demo to test things including if it works on your computer I'll try it out. If it's part of the story I might leave it and wait for the full game.
  5. It's one of the pinned topics in this forum. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/65751-pillars-of-eternity-–-partnership-faq-for-backers/
  6. Good stuff. And right in the middle of my holidays in China. Hopefully I can download it past the great firewall.
  7. Such as? I'm not denying movements existed but these were primarily aiming for tiny concessions and reforms with hardly the level of mass support previous movements had. You're actually serious? Aiming for tiny concessions? LOL. Oh boy. Where to begin. I did have quite a few things written out and in the end decided to delete it all. You know, I'm not going to bother. All this is easily found on the internet. Suffice to say, there was a lot of defining moments in the 1980s (especially for the left), movements and far reaching consequences in the national and international scene which is still being felt today.
  8. I'm not sure what you mean by this? Are you also talking about the "mainstream left" in western countries? And what do you mean by disarray? I would say it was quite the opposite. In fact there was a lot of movements to bring awareness and change in the world during the 80s. I see.
  9. meh, didn't find the article hard to read, mostly due to years of dealing with badly written and mistranslated English in my line of work. Now chinglish/engrish type speech is something else entirely if you're not used to the mispronunciations. They're mostly spoilers so be prepared to be spoiled, but there is some stuff I don't recall in the updates.
  10. Yeah, I don't want to see a delay. Ship the goods and the game on day one and no problem to download the patches later.
  11. I can see points on both sides of the argument. Personally, I don't mind it being like the previous IE games. The main game on the disc and a final patch many months later that we can install.
  12. I'm just glad to see more reporting of PoE through different avenues.
  13. Good article Osvir. Also shows that Divintiy: Original Sin will eventually break even and then start making some profit. Also shows a good (hypothetical) break down when taking things like Steam into consideration.
  14. I do like the rolled out parchment look that BG1 had with the loading screens and world map.
  15. Yeah. really gave it some atmosphere with the background voices in the BG games. I'm hoping they do the same with PoE.
  16. One of the problems with IWD2 and (HoW for IWD1) was the slowdowns in Windows. There was no slowdown in the Mac Primejunta?
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a new Kickstarter early next year. Maybe one of the reasons why they haven't announced the new Kickstarter is they don't want to take the spotlight off Pillars. Once PoE is released later this year and the dust has settled after a couple of months, a new Kickstarter might be announced around March. Here's hoping.
  18. Sensuki, when you report back, tell us your party make up, what tactics you used and how many reloads (if any) it took.
  19. I was thinking about some of the puzzles in the IE games that seems to work for me and some that were an absolute chore. I really enjoyed the puzzles in the Baldurs Gate series. The ones I didn't enjoy was the Fellwood in IWD2. While the Fellwood does sound kind of cool in a pnp game, it didn't translate well in the finished game. What puzzles did you enjoy in the IE games or just crpgs in general? And what puzzles didn't you like?
  20. 4th edition has you raising 2 stats every four levels and all you ever did was raise your two primary stats and ignoring the rest, or at least putting the bare minimum in the others. Min-max ftw!
  21. What are the new RPGs on the horizon that people are looking forward to? A quick search came up with these which are the more know rpgs that most of us know about. Age of Decadence. Dragon Age: Inquisition Kingdom Come: Deliverance Legend of Grimrock 2. Pillars of Eternity. Torment: Tides of Numenera. Wasteland 2. What are the lesser known rpgs that people are looking forward to? Be good to see what others are waiting for in the future.
  22. Would like to know if the game will ship with detecting if you are online and if you can disable it. Some people like myself may want to play on a computer which isn't connected to the internet. For example traveling while not being connected. Also, are we able to manually update by downloading patches like the previous IE games. I'd like to see an option where we can disable the game from detecting if we're online and download the latest patch anytime we want. I don't always want to click on a game and then it starts downloading a huge file.
  23. heh. I think it was Adam who said Unity works out of the box with all platforms (Windows, Mac and Linux) and there wasn't much difference between all three. And as they were progressing, they were bug testing on all three platforms as they went along. What I'd also like to know is what the developers thought about other platforms like Linux if they've never used Linux before. Did they get a PC and install Linux to see how it works, what distro did they use, did they try out different distro's, etc.
  24. I think it would make sense if it was every 3 or 4 levels. The level cap is 12 so you could fit 3 or 4 points by the end of the level cap. Not sure if every three levels is too much. But it would be good to have another point by level 12.
  25. I've always liked the BG1 styles myself.
