  1. Note that I was speaking very specifically about central-planning socialism, which in a number of cases has a very dark history of starvation of its populace. Not hybrid-style socialism.
  2. Not quite. It was already covered by the news article, which I conveniently supplied. Enjoy your read.
  3. UN to provide food to Venezuela children amid crisis Food shortages in a socialist government-managed economy? Hmm, where have I heard that before... oh yes, in virtually every other socialist government-managed economy we've seen in the last century. This failure is as predictable as the Sun rising in the east.
  4. Micropayment NFTs in loot chests, coming to a massive multi-player scam, err... game any day now.
  5. ^ That's the guy who becomes the post-apocalyptic doctor with a mysterious troubled past...
  6. This Keyboard Lets People Type So Fast It’s Banned From Typing Competitions Prepare to re-learn typing, it sounds like.
  7. My conjecture is that the Republican party/Fox News is trying to spin the word because of Section 3 of the 14th amendment, which could, in theory, prevent their defeated President from running again in 2024. If the Dems are going to play this card, they may do so just prior to the Republicans selecting their candidate. That would maximize the uncertainty and risk factor.
  8. What alignment does loving to loaf make you, I wonder?
  9. They were led by a man who is mentally ill, so yeah it doesn't make logical sense. But he sat there and watched it so apparently he was hoping for some type of outcome.
  10. The Jan. 6 event was clearly a Trump-inspired rebellion to disrupt the Constitutional authority of the government to manage the Presidential transition, so I think it's quite acceptable to call it an insurrection. The fact that it failed is mainly due to Trump's unwillingness to directly lead the mob, which caused it to peter out after their initial success. Fox News would like it to be white-washed and apply some less-loaded label, but that's just spinning the event. Next time we may not be so lucky.
  11. Lately I've been trying to get back into the habit of reading more books. I finished The Last Watch by J. S. Dewes, and now I'm reading the sequel: The Exiled Fleet. It's pretty enjoyable military space opera. The books mainly focus on Adequin Rake, a career member of the Legion, and Cavalon, a disgraced royal family member.
  12. It fits the dictionary definition of insurrection. The fact that it was inept and leaderless (after Trump departed) does not erase that stain.
  13. Spaceflight 2022: Missions to watch in the upcoming year (Sky & Telescope) Three commercial lunar landings scheduled!
  14. It was sad to hear that. Football was just more enjoyable back then.
  15. It's a bit off topic for this thread, but the use of chemical agents is now restricted, at least in Seattle. Seattle council approves modified regulations for police use of less lethal weapons
