Pillars of Eternity has lots of abilities, but will we truly need to use them?
But will we need to use the abilities of companions as well? Will the companions have the same kind of AI as the enemies? Can they handle themselves and their abilities in (an easy) fight without handholding? As compared to NWN2, the AI wasn't super clever but they did do some stuff. But in puppet mode they did nothing at all unless told to, that was a real pain, I used the mode a few times in the worst fights. I'd love some behaviour triggers, like go wild with per-battle abilities, but don't use per-rest ones unless told to.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
How were morningstars actually carried around? Certainly not on belt or on the back like swords. Always on the shoulder? Which would be totally awesome for everybody in a crowd. Or did they have them wrapped in some protective covering or something? I'd imagine it'd be neat to have a version where the spikes are carried separately and screwed on before a set battle. Maybe with an option for knobs when.. uh, you don't feel quite so vicious. Or when expecting a fight any day now but don't want spikeholes in yourself in the meantime.

Level cap and pacing
You're probably right about that.

Level cap and pacing
I hope a rather flat rate, but am not super happy there's a level cap to begin with. There's optional content and I'd guess that optional content also yields XP, more or less. So either 1.) the game is set so, you'll hit the cap only when doing all the optional content, or 2.) you'll hit the cap not doing any of the optional stuff and doing the optional stuff makes you hit the cap midgame. Neither is very appealing, but I'd prefer 1.) But then there's the talents and no doubt there'll be something way sweet as the talent of last level. Meaning you better drudge through every damn fetch&carry, 17 thousand rat tails to the blacksmith, no prob.

My joinable NPC thread
I'd like a variation. An easily romanceable (by whatever sex/class character you happen to have) ego-stroker who conforms to your will all the time. Only every now and then there'd be a ka-ching when she grabs a good slice of party cash to by herself more lingerie and jewelry. Failing the extra cash, she'd just pilfer your magic sword when you're in that deep sleep and pawn it. She'd promise to not do that again and you'd know she's lying. But she'd be the hottest and I couldn't bring myself to boot her. And I'm not talking out of experience and I'm not bitter.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
Ah, just rediscovered this bit from the past, where both pollaxes and two-handed morning stars were confirmed. I very much suspected they'd be in, but happy happy to (re)see it confirmed. Whacking smash!

playing "evil"
I'm somehow, can't say for sure why, pretty darn convinced PoE will be closer to Icewind Dale than Baldurs Gate in terms of branching storylines and freedom. Choices, and limited freedom to choose the order of things, but still largely a railroad. Works for me, I really only want a variety of choices to choose the same result from.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Kickstarter
That'd be something new and I'd definitely want to see a game like that. It'd be controversial and would most likely end up banned from most stores and steam. Normally that would be a valid point accept for the fact that with stretch goals allowing the budget to reach double the original tier to allow some form of female representation I don't think that is applicable. In other words they have effectively raised enough money to create 2 games based on the original target, I fail to see how they can't incorporate a decent female footprint if the issue is just about resourcing? The thing with this is, the kickstarter in case of Deliverance is not going to raise the cash for the budget, it's to convince the financer. Even if they come up with 2 millions, it'd be barely enough to cover the development, barely. For myself, if the game attempts to be historically accurate, as much as a game can be, there'll be faults anyway, it simply wont do to just play the same game with a female character. "It's a game" is no excuse at all.

Powerful enemies and three-way battles
NWN2 had a nice episode where you were up against a huge dragon (IMO, the toughest fight in the game) and a bunch of giants. It was pretty much a given however, that you were supposed to help one side or another, or just fight the one left standing. No discovery or thinking necessary, which was a bit of a bummer. Still good fun though.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
Well couldn't really disagree much more with Woldan and Tsuga, but right, offtopic. And I'm not continuing in offtopic section either, everything's been said before. So how about them flails? Two handed variants or one handed? Never my favorite smashers, but they do have a certain quality...

Then maybe you'd better get yourself a concealed firearm to keep ahead in the arms race towards general well being and safety.

Timeline and basic history of the Pillars of Eternity setting
I've not seen the answer to any of these. Would like to know, particularly 5-7.

do u remember ur first pnp game?
T'was around mid 80's, there was this magazine article telling about the roleplaying concept and me an my brother decided to give it a go. We didn't have any rules or such and only one six-sided die, so it was to the tune of "I roll ... 4, is that a hit? guess that's a hit. Roll... 5 for damage.. hmmm. guess the goblin's dead now." Sweet stuff, storytelling experience with dungeons and magic crystals, when we wanted to do something, we decided what needs to be rolled. I had played some Scott Adams text adventures on Vic-20, so I knew how adventure stories work. A bit later we went big and bought D&D red box. It was a choice between that and Middle Earth Role Playing, Larry Elmore's sweet D&D cover won that battle.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
Not too shabby start, a day later they're already 2/3 to target. Do spread the word outside this thread as well, fellas. They need more than they get anyway.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
Seems exactly the kind of RPG I've been waiting for... forever. Doubt they'll pull it off exactly as I'd like but backed anyway. Thanks for the heads up! ... edit. Oh there was a trailer as well, nice. Although "Realistic single-player RPG set in the medieval Europe" was enough for me to frantically rush for my visa.

Excellent/favorite minor NPC's
I think you nailed it - that wacko is the only npc outside of main cast I can remember clearly. No wonder given how much he stood out (and how self centered ass-hat he was). Besides him I vaguely remember ghosts of two (?) kids in the ruined village... I think? So, no competition for Sir Roderick the outlander here. They did grab John Cleese for the part and hyped up his appearance. Anyway, I remember a.. some sort of official, mayor or something, in the village with the damn. You'd meet him later in the capital. He worked because he was such a whiny incompetent loser. Almost worked out according to the games open/closed principles. Open Fist: Help him out, help the town. -> help an incompetent leader maintain his post and rise in the bureucratic ladder. Closed Fist: Don't help, damage the town. - > weed out the weak, maybe the next leader can improve things. Of course, the actual gameplay didn't really follow the ideals and the whole thing devolved into the usual: "I'll do bad things because I'm a psycopathic arse. And philosophy".

Can I even handle a game like PE any longer? Well, I sure hope so!
Because! NOTHING else in the game is going to require maintenance! It wasn't as such, at least not by .. the faction I was in. I'd have been fine with item degradation, it was the mechanic where fighters armorer skill worked (in combat) to prevent item wear, not just a skill to make and repair stuff out of combat. Obsidian agreed with the sentiment in the end. But absent the combat use, armorer would have been a skill to dump and pointless busywork (you'd pretty much spend time after every fight giving all the equipment to one guy and have him repair everything). End then there was the Oblivion example, where everybody carried around about 75 hammers for field repairs. I actually kind of liked that, but there's always an immediate shout down to any mechanic that was in any Elder Scrolls game, because otherwise PoE would become a hiking simulator.

Funnily enough, the D&D curve was just stupid: Chart. Flats out at 10th level. Meaning the difference is something like being at 20th or 40th level. Also meaning a multiclass character works great in BG1 but not at all in BG2 or Icewind Dales.
