I got confused as on a one hand you say that there is some great problem with democracy, because people can target adds to the demographics they want to vote for them and that somehow dishonest adds now have some more negative impact than dishonest adds of the past - add control, then on the other hand you want equal time rule. The only thing that changed is that you can have better information on where your potential audience is. I would agree that social media should change their platform crap and be held responsible, if they have editorial process and decide what you should see and what you should not see (and there was no court order to remove something) . I would not change that though, if they would indeed remain a platform and just give the place for others to speak and then the authors of the content should be liable for any "offense" in a civil court
-
So your idea for too much power of social media actors is to give them even more power to filter and surpress flow of information?
-
You know that there is no politician talking truth? How is this more of manipulation than radio broadcast or leaflets of the past? Does the channel of communication suddenly change the content of it? Campaigners always, i mean ALWAYS exaggerated, misinformed, polarized, lied, gave information in a certain framework and perspective to fit their narrative... There is no better way to identify a fool than to make him or her talk... If your brain is incapable of recognizing that, then perhaps the joke ia on you? Or do you suddenly feel superior to others so you can decide what they should see and what they shouldn't? Don't they have their own brain?
-
There is a differenc in the fraud on the counting ballots like Fiedel or Lukaszenko, and voters being dumb and voting with their feels instead of brain...

*sarcasm on* Typical xenophobic and racist comment not noticing fellow central and eastern europeans, which apparently are good only for calling them white privilaged people when narrative suits it. *sarcasm off* But on a more serious note, i think it's related to Bruce's work, which is most likely very dependent on what is going on at Wall St. and at Earl St. Can't blame him. My wealth is also locked to such places, but the difference is, that i lived early years of my life in a socialst / communist dream and still remember chockolate like products, meat and other essentials distributed via coupons and top down limits... Edit: oh, and i forgot the hours/days long lines and queue committees... For things like suggar or butter... yay socializm!

Or all the money spent on keeping your physicality up, as that's your market value and the only thing you are known for?

@Guard Dog @Hurlshot I wonder what your opinions would be on this topic https://www.forbes.com/sites/ebauer/2020/09/02/forget-pension-obligation-bonds-two-cities-areno-jokeleasing-their-streets-to-fund-pensions/

The more people you have the greater the demand for housing and if the supply cannot follow, then the prices keep increasing. Join that with the fact, that most immigrants are minimum wage candidates, and you just exacerbate that affordable housing part.

You can thank the FED and the printing machine, which gave millions to banks and big corps to stay afloat and inflate stock bubble.

Sure, I understand this, and I believe it is a natural process, which also is a part of self regulating population growth. The more concious you are about this decision i.e. family etc. then it will slef regulate breeding rate. Last I heard, Earth as a whole is suffering from population boom. Is it then productive to import population from other areas and keep that boom going or should you leave it to self regulate per specific populations. There is a worry, that economic models are based on permanent growth, but such economics is not sustainable and the earlier you adapt to changing demographics instead of artificially keeping it as is, then the better for the general outlook it is. Right now natively we produce less children and at lower generations rate (ie in time of 3 generations from the past you produce 2 now) Importing population, which has different cultural norms and different life goals will only lead to the replacement of populations and changing who is in the majority of the population. You had that type of event playing out multiple times throughout the history. Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Goth tribes, Saxon Tribes, Arab people, Northmen and later Normans, Scythians and Slavs, various North and South america tribes, Olmecs, Inca, Aztec, later Spanish people, French, Niderlanders, English people, various African tribes replacing others in Africa, Ottoman Turks in balkans and greece, making the population mix different, and so on and so forth. I guess that if native americans had something akin to a unified country on the East coast territory then the illegal immigrants from EU would be confined and the history of the continent would look much different

@Hurlshot in terms of resources, i can list two just from the top of my head, which should speak to your localization Affordable housing, which will not make you cost and arm and a leg and possibly a kidney Electric grid and electricity As for the others and other points, I could write an essay. People evaluating with feels instead of hard numbers and cause and effect logic chains, usually make bad decisions. When it comes to immigrants covering for growth rate, ask yourself, what is the cause for the low natural growth rate in the first place. High costs of living and shrinking middle class, the hookup culture, late marriages and unstable marriages, first kid decision delayed on average by 6-10 years comparing to 70 urs ago

I do not understand this notion: "they are children, they are women, etc." I understand the idea of helping and being a hospitable host for someone, who was forcefully relocated due to a war or natural disaster, but the focus is here on the temporality of the state. It should be a limited time. Same like I am happy to shelter someone whose home got burnt down, but I will want them to leave as soon as they can get on their own, unless they would bring me so much value, that I would lose something of value, if they left. Countries have limited 'resources'. You already have social issues and poverty issues. Why take more people to an economy and country, which has so much of other issues already? Why take in people, where vast majority will classify into simple menial task workers or criminals? (because they will not get sufficient education, and they will also not assimilate well to the host country culture) Why do such things, where more and more automation happens in economy? Do you want these people to live in squalor? Just so you can feel morally better in your own mind? If you care so much, sell everything you own and finance other people's futures. If you won't do that, then it seems their lives are not so invaluable to you.

@BruceVC Btw, this is only one of the aspects, from June (about data and privacy protection in US being lacking) https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-53418898 https://www.politico.eu/article/facebook-privacy-data-us/

So, how is it really in Sweden? https://www.zerohedge.com/political/sweden-violence-extremely-serious I've heard privately from some Swedes, especially women, that it's pretty bad, since the last immigration wave.

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/new-footage-sino-indian-border-fight-hits-web-tensions-soar I wonder what will happen this time?

Well.... He did not start any war or major troop deployments? That's some achievement given US presidents He did have some agreement with North Korea, stopped hawks and WH from going all ballistic on Iran after rocket attack at US base, and was helping to build agreement between Isreal and UAE? On paper, it does not look so bad, right?

Democratic, hah It does not change the underlying though, that most of the populace there is Russian, and that they were living and prospering mostly on Russia related business. I'm displeased though, how the Crimean Tatars were treated there, during and after the take over. That's a legitimate concern, same like the case of eastern Ukraine and its integrity
-
Some could argue, that Ukraine as a soviet republic wa given Crimea during deep soviet era. Majority of demographics there was and is Russian, like it or not. There was also a large support for Russians there. It was also dumb to think, that Russians would just abandon their black sea naval base, which is a vital strategic point. Imagine, Hawaii would decide to leave US and US was told to get lost and abandon bases there. I'm sure it would go well... Eastern Ukraine and incursions there, that's a different story, but lst i checked it's still Ukraine's territory

And who sets those sanctions and why? Why no sanctions on Turkey for genocide on Kurds? Why no sanctions for Sauds for actions in Yemen? Women rights? Slavery? Racism? Child abuse and slavery in african states? Genocide on Christians in African states? Piracy? China and their concetration camps? Occupying Tibet? Child workers? Quelling of Hong Kong? Should I keep going? Lets not prented those actions have anything to do with morality and stance on some principles, because they do not. It has everything to do with leverage in negotiations and pressure from US liquid gas lobby Same like the 'welcome immigrants' was nested in the reality, that native populace became incapable of producing a population growth at an at least replacement level, and there was an idea, that you could have immigrants produce cheap labor and new citizens, who could shape culturaly and support aging demographics, which will require economic growth to keep their pension plans going. Problem is politicians keep making dumb decisions, because they are being selected by all population, which given the statistics is mostly dumb or of average cognitive abilities and IQ. The dumber the populace, the worse the idea of democracy is.
-
By this logic, you should stop buying oil from Arabs and Russia, you should stop buying rare earths from China, you should stop buying diamonds and precious industrial metals from african states, you should stop buying cheap labor from China, India etc. This is just a form of negiotation for better conditions...

Something from @Gromnir specialty - legal https://www.lawofficer.com/california-legislation-reduces-penalties-for-adults-that-have-sex-with-a-consenting-minor/

This is something a bit sensitive, but I can assure you, that those companies have their sensitive data storages in non US locations and stream data from those locations and run those elements so called "stateless" I cannot really tell more. But you can compare legislation and guess why it is that way. Tip. Examine for example amazon services and see where they have their data centers in the world to run cloud services. https://aws.amazon.com/products/storage/ https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/global-infrastructure/ It's also imoprtant to understand and know which legal entity is responsible for a given storage and what legal authority binds that entity. There are mutlitude of reasons why corporations are clusters of various legal entities located in different jurisdictions for various reasons.
