  1. And you think this is important enough that developers of a game in which strategy is FAR more important than cosmetic fluffery should spend their time on such a thing? I agree with this being low on the priority list, but I really don't think it would take much development time or resources to include.
  2. The main purpose of a video game is to provide enjoyment and some people enjoy games with less difficulty.
  3. yes. apparently they want this to be just like the old games, except they all hated that.
  4. I'm thinking she has a knife hidden somewhere, or maybe she uses the gun to bludgeon her enemies to death? Thanks, now I hope I can pistol whip goblins in this game.
  5. maybe she's a mage and it doubles as a staff? no I was wondering that myself.
  6. I understand that plate armor is generally not tight fitting thus "boobplate" is pretty much not needed. And if the lady needs room, it would just be widened across the whole front plate and not just bulged out. But Cate Blanchett also has less need for "boobplate" than most men who work out their chests in any capacity.
  7. Unfortunately the restaurant you've just entered is called Josh's Pickles. i'm sorry, but you lost me. that makes no sense. You are clamoring for stupid non-crpg features for a game that is purporting to be a classical crpg. no I'm not. this is a game largely built around creating and shaping a character how I want to. This is a mechanic to allow me to do that. And its a mechanic that isn't that far off from one that already existed in the classical crpg's you are talking about. As I have mentioned if it was in BG it was dumb. It certainly was not in Fallout or Arcanum. ok, so this should be like the classical crpg's, but only in the ways that you like.
  8. that's pretty much all this would be. A way to differentiate the look of our sprites.

  10. did it bother you that you could change the color of your clothes at any time in the old IE games? This is basically just an expansion of that mechanic. In a word, yes. fair enough, at least you are consistent. No offense, but I really hope at least that is still there. I hate when my party all look too much alike that I can't tell them apart at a glance.
  11. this type of thing already existed in the old IE games. I could change the color of my things at any time. No in game reasoning for why. I just could. I used it to make my members who were equipped similarly look different enough to pick out at a glance. I would use this system in a similar way.

  13. Any time spent on unnecessary Bethesdian style nonsense is significant time. Also, it worries me less about Obsidian actually doing this than it does the amount of people desiring it. You're like this stain I can't get off my nicest jacket. so I like one thing you don't. your opinion means more than mine because....why exactly?

  15. Yes, well, unfortunately Obsidian doesn't have a magic pickle tree which allows them unlimited resources to throw in unnecessary elements. do you seriously think it would take any significant resources to implement this? If it does, I would agree it shouldn't be included. As I've said over and over.
  16. Yet some of you care enough to start a thread and post incessently about it while defending it as a TROO RPG mechanic, which it isn't. I'm posting because I think its ridiculous how adamant people are about keeping things out of the game that will never once take away from their own playing experience. I don't like pickles so when I order food at restaurants I don't get pickles. They could save money by not buying pickles and put an extra piece of onion on my burger. But I don't take offense to restaurants serving pickles because I know other people like them.
  17. If you're equally or more concerned with playing dress-up and house than you are actually playing the game then yes. Yes you are a part of that grand decline. nobody has said that. we have said that we would like a feature like this. we haven't said its a major feature that we absolutely need to have. the funny part is, I have pretty much no interest in the player house that is tied to the 2M stretch goal we just reached.
  18. Because its such a minor feature that it doesn't seem deserving of strong emotion one way or another. I can see not caring about it at all. But it is just so minor that I don't see how it has any ill effect on anything. As I said a while ago, if it will take significant resources to implement, then by all means leave it out. That's a legitimate drawback. But I can't imagine that would be the case.
  19. Role-playing is not playing dress-up. It's about stats, not about looks. You CAN'T play Gandalf (or some specific character), unless the game specifically casts you as Gandalf (that specific character). If you're playing it in "your head", then keep it there. If in your mind some random character you created is Gandalf then you can just imagine he's wearing his clothes as well. Or, if you think that the character you created should wear THIS but definitely not THAT, RPGs are not for you and you're the cause of the decline. Because, in real life someone actually sees you. In a computer game, nobody does. And if you think the people in the game care what you wear, you have serious troubles. Similarly, if you only play games to look cool and make screenshots to show to others, then again, please leave RPGs alone and play some dress-up game or something. RPGs are not about satisfying every little disturbed fantasy of everybody out there. Why can't people just leave them alone and go play Bioware dating-sims/dress-up games? RPG = stats. RPG =/= hats so why do you care what we want our game to look like if the stats are all that matter to you?
  20. How does how you look not have anything to do with role playing? It's Live Action Role Playing for a reason. If you want to roleplay as Gandalf, would you not want to >look< like gandalf? I dont' see how if it's "live action" role playing means what you look like matters but "Computer" role playing what you look like means nothing all of the sudden. I would say graphical computer roll playing is more similar to larping than pen and paper role playing.
  21. if I had anything worth selling or any high level characters I'd help out. But alas, I do not.
  22. Don't forget personal hygiene, Charisma goes down the more you forget to brush your teeth/clean your nails... I think there's a limit to the realism of the game. I play games to escape the mundanity (probably not a word) of my life, and giving me a second platform in which to worry about where I'm getting lunch wouldn't be very much fun for me. We should also use toothpicks(too much and you ruin your mouth hygiene) after every meal. Also make sure you always have a pair of toilet paper rolls with you, cause you know... you never know when nature calls. As I said before, realism in RPGs is not for everyone. There aren't too many gamers, that would enjoy the level of realism I like in my games. Considering the games this is trying to pay homage to, I don't think we should expect that type of realism in this game. I have said a few times I want this to be a fantasy game, not an adventure simulator. I would actually very much enjoy an adventure simulator. I just don't want this to be it.
  23. ya, I think special abilities should have the chance to deal friendly fire damage. Spells already do in all the old games, but if they add more active skills to other classes I would expect them to have to use them with as much care as a mage does. Auto attack FF would likely just become a hassle.
  24. they are all going to be very primitive guns though, so one shot and then switch to your other weapon. I see them as something to add a little spice to every class depending how each can utilize it more than something to build a class around. It could be an interesting upgrade to the typical backstab if a thief puts a little extra effort into mastering a gun though.
