  1. http://theralphretort.com/let-syrians-suffer-says-anti-gamergate-boston-globe-journo/ This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I would like to know how it is possible that so many children got involved with this industry.
  2. This is disproven by the fact that Germans have an absolutely phenominal GDP given their modest population, yet they're some of the biggest **** and most miserable people on the planet. Maybe being big **** makes them happy? For real, there are happy and miserable people everywhere. I certainly met some very happy Germans that were anything but **** when I was there. Take your racism elsewhere or keep it to yourself please. ...But I AM German. :D If you were Jewish the ADL would label you a 'self hating Jew'. Good thing for the world we have only one such mislead and ridiculous organization. As I said though, there are happy and miserable people everywhere. People have both good and bad reasons for being both. I don't know your circumstances, but there are happy Germans somewhere not far from you. Go find and be with them. 'Misery loves company.' Escape those people if you need to. Man, calm your ****. I'm a dual citizen, and I cannot tell you how many times I've had German friends travel to the USA (my other country) and come back saying "omg everyone's so nice and people are actually friendly and happy!" Yeah no **** Germany, that's what happens when you don't treat people with an attitude and tone that says "I'm only speaking to you because I have to." Of course there are miserable people everywhere, and I doubt Germany's anywhere close to the most miserable country given all the corrupt and war-torn countries out there devoid of basic human rights. But hell yes I'm gonna poke fun of Germany for being needlessly more miserable on average than needs be, especially when I can cross multiple borders and find countries with better attitudes in no time at all, and especially when I'd dare argue things are far worse in the USA and yet average American handles that stuff like a champ. But now here I am explaining a joke and thereby killing the joke because omg let's be politically correct.... Political correctness has nothing to do with it. You made a statement that is pretty much only likely interpreted as racist if taken by itself. Had you had 'Germany' listed as where you hailed from or also stated something that indicated you were joking (albeit a bad one), there'd be no issue. There is no tone, inflection, facial expression, etc on an internet forum, so what might be meant as a joke can be taken as something entirely different by someone else in black and white text. Or we could assume the average person isn't dumb enough to be racist and unless there's multiple posts ranting and confirming "I mean it," then calm down. You wanna go be mad at someone, go find that one guy who's always posting here about black people.
  3. Yeah especially those Fox News guys!

  5. Oh come on, this can't be a real thing. This has to be a joke. Mr. Biscuit is just pulling our collective legs here, right? Even the SJWs couldn't possibly be delusional enough to make claims about weaponized charity, could they? Actually, they already made this claim when GG funded TFYC woman game jam campaign. "HOW DARE YOU GIVE MONEY TO FEMINISTS TO SPITE FEMINISTS, YOU MISOGYNISTS!!!!"

  7. The faults are two-fold. 1) Put yourselves in the shoes of the donators. I believe that yes, it is initially fueled by malice. But I think by the time you actually step up to the plate to make the donation, the malice is gone. Suddenly you're more focused on the good thing you're doing. 2) Why these people prioritize how their egos feel bruised by a spiteful donation over the fact that some good was done is...yeah, I can't imagine it. I'm trying to imagine myself in their shoes, and my focus would go to the good that was done.
  8. Oh come on, this can't be a real thing. This has to be a joke. Mr. Biscuit is just pulling our collective legs here, right? Even the SJWs couldn't possibly be delusional enough to make claims about weaponized charity, could they? Did you miss that? He's not, they said it a couple days ago. I didn't think to link it cause....well on one hand I understand what they're trying to say, on the other though TotalBiscuit has a point in that I think any NORMAL human being who felt spited by charity donations would not actually be upset or feel harassed, and be able to say "at least some good came of this" instead of lambasting the other side for....well, donating (or "weaponizing" as they call it) to a charity. I mean if I were to make a statement like "donating money to starving kids in Africa is a lost cause and a waste of time and money" and it drove one of you to try and prove me wrong by donating millions to the cause, then you'd think the focal point would be that'd you'd be glad to be proven wrong rather than "omg how dare he bruise my ego." EDIT: Found the source, I think. There might be more: http://i.imgur.com/71crK11.png So giving money to an anti-bullying charity is a badly concealed assault on women? That......just doesn't make sense. I think what he means is it's a donation with hate as it's donated purely to spite the opposition, NOT out of a genuine and immense natural interest in the cause itself. It's a "LOOK AT US, WE DON'T CONDONE BULLYING, WE'RE SUCH NICE PEOPLE AND NOT **** LIKE YOU. BTW EVERYONE DID YOU KNOW THEY'RE ****?" I get where they're coming from, but like TotalBiscuit was explaining, you need a special kind of narcissism to actually be upset by someone "attacking" you with a charity donation. That simply highlights poor priorities in that you care more about someone bruising your ego than about the fact that a good cause just benefited from this. Yknow it's like if the President donates to feed starving kids in Africa and the response is why doesn't he donate here or some other political slander from the opposition. There though, that's their JOB to come up with excuses and reasons why the President sucks, whereas here....it's like wow dude wtf is with the size of your ego?

  10. Now I saw the lead up to that and I got to say, what an attention whore! Seriously; she goes posts on the hashtag baiting everyone to harass her; which it mostly doesn't work and then proceeds to make your usual garden variety harassment comments toward GG. Then out of nowhere she starts saying that she is getting harassed and that she's going to kill herself. Seems like she has some mental issues, luckily there where some people that saw the comment and contacted her friends and apparently they were on top of the situation. This also isn't the first time she's attempted suicide....or the first time she publicized the suicide attempt. Google search results suggest she did this once before, live on Twitch.tv with an attempted pill overdose. Seems like a disturbed individual who just needs help and isn't worth bringing into any debate or discussion. Though I did find this sad: It's from a discussion regarding her last suicide attempt. Only reason I'm not linking the source is I realized after clicking that it's neogaf. (if you'd like to see it yourself, just Google Chloe Segal and it's on the front page) But I find the bolded and underlined to be sad, cause it highlights how people buy into this stuff and how such actions are encouraged.

  12. Hey I've got an idea. Why don't we just tell the gaming journalists that "feminism" and "misogyny" are our trigger words? Then if they keep pushing those stories, they're insensitive jerks who need to check their privilege. Then we'll be forced to move on to discuss journalism ethics.
  13. Btw this may be random, but I think I recall someone somewhere saying these little feminist cliques hang out on tumblr a lot....? I don't really know of or visit tumblr, but then I remembered my only window into what it's like and suddenly it all made sense:
  14. And I quote: "8) Are there any misconceptions GamerGate has about Anti-GamerGate? I could list things I’ve been called which just don’t even make logical sense, like being told I’m “anti-ethics” and “pro-bullying” as though those are positions that any human actually identifies with, but I suspect the people levying such insults are doing so insincerely at any rate to “win” what passes for argument on twitter and internet forums." Yes exactly Rex, so why the hell is the majority of GamerGate coverage nothing but the press accusing gamers of being anti ethics and pro bullying?
  15. Kind of a nice story. At the same time though, it highlights how naive some supporters of the anti-GG side are...and it's kinda tragic.
  16. Who says Gamers are misogynistic neckbeards with no culture?
  17. This rustles my jimmies. GamerGate dude got doxxed by a 16 year old girl. Tracks her down and calls her house, this is what happens: http://hokuto-ju-no-ken.tumblr.com/post/99774092444/well-that-was-a-surprisingly-real-phonecall
  18. I'm afraid to click because I might cringe too hard and die.
  19. Did some digging and while I couldn't find a list with all the South American countries on the list (occassionally found Costa Rica, Mexico or Brazil, and likewise I find it fairly understandable I couldn't find them as now the newer dated lists flood the search results), I did notice something I wanted to note: some of these lists factor in economic growth, life expectancy and social support as factors that make a country happy. In that sense it's no wonder this list is suddenly devoid of South America while I swear I've seen lists including it. I don't see any evidence of this within the list Bruce linked, yet his list DOES correlate very well with another list from 2013 that did review those things: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/09/world-happiness-report-happiest-countries_n_3894041.html In short, just take these with a grain of salt, as it's important to understand WHAT is used to determine happiness. Another factor I'd say is highly important? Weather. Countless studies regarding suicide rates have shown suicide rates spike in the absence of sun. So Obama offers gay rights and weed while Putin offers babies and conservatively dressed women?
  20. https://medium.com/@evanderkoogh/so-i-read-the-1500-mentions-anita-sarkeesian-and-brianna-wu-got-in-the-last-20-hours-f0bbc27f3ac4 There's multiple reasons to go "wtf" in this.
  21. This is odd.... I'm familiar with these lists, and while Denmark at the top is tradition, the majority of the list was always South America, yet here all of South America is entirely absent...
  22. I mean it's kinda obvious it's corrupt. Just an example off the top of my head: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-sims-4 You could scour metacritic and find a pattern where reviewers give comparatively glowing reviews to the reactions of the consumer. Some might react "that's just cause consumers rage and give 0's." That works both ways: die-hard fans respond in kind by giving perfect 10's, and honestly for a lot of people that is how it works; either they're happy with their purchase or they're unhappy, but even when unhappy purchases arise, journalists hardly warn them away from the game and instead seem to tell them the game will be good or ok rather than outstanding, failing to alert them to the massive disappointment and dissatisfaction they'll feel.
