  1. Wow. Wow, Obsidian. Guys, I love you, I sincerely do. You write the best RPGs in the business, hands down. I am always ready and willing to defend KOTOR 2, I loved Alpha Protocol despite anything but the pistol being useless, and I genuinely want to punch people whenever they say Fallout 3 was better than New Vegas... but god damn, guys, how did you miss that?! I'm also a little heartbroken that my favorite NPC is apparently the cause of my problems. I forgive you, Kana. I forgive you.
  2. Sadly, I'm still dealing with ~30 second load times... but that's literally HALF of what it was before, so I'm not complaining too loudly. Not sure why my load times are still so high, though I suspect that the game still has to READ the MobileObjects file when I move from map to map, even if it doesn't have to make a brand new copy anymore.
  3. I kinda doubt those of us who aren't programmers can. Sounds like he cracked open the game's code to do that. Of course, like I said a couple pages ago, sure would be nice if a code-savvy person could create a mod to disable autosaves and share it with the rest of us... Zipped and uploaded to nexusmods with instructions. Had to finish the game first http://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity/mods/14/? This isn't compatible with IE Mod, since it includes a modified version of the same game file. It'd be pretty easy for its author to add this in there though. YOU ARE A GOD AMONG MORTALS. ALL HAIL THE NEW AVATAR OF EOTHAS, AWAKENED GOD OF REDEMPTION AND DESPERATELY NEEDED MODS! Ahem. Little happy that you did this, y'see.

  5. I snagged the Pillars guidebook off of Amazon, and I've been doing a lot of reading between loading screens I may actually put further progress on hold until I can get some kind of fix. If I knew anything about coding, I'd take a crack at modding the game files to turn off autosaving myself. And woo, go team Truthadin! Actually... wait, what if that's the common link?
  6. I've been trying to delay going to Hearthsong, knowing what a bear it's going to be while this problem persists. Hoo boy... In the interest of bringing more attention to this issue, I'll post my own savegame and info. Savegame Here's my latest savegame. (Uploaded and shared through Google Drive; if there are issues, I can find another hosting service.) System Specs AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, ~3.2 GHz Windows 7 Professional 16 gigabytes RAM Game installed on SSD, Windows installed and savegames located on standard HD Description As with the original poster, starting at around 20 hours of play time, the process of saving games and loading new maps began becoming increasingly lengthy. Quicksaving now takes around 15-20 seconds to complete; transitioning to a new area takes 30 seconds or more. As a temporary measure, if the problem is too complex to resolve in time for the patch this week (or unable to be replicated at Obsidian), I would suggest enabling an option to turn off autosaving after map transitions. Saving will still take much longer than it should, but at least navigating the game will be less frustrating for those of us experiencing this problem.
  7. I'm also experiencing the same issue. I've got 8 companions at the moment (one of 'em hired at an inn, the rest story folk), and am roughly 30 hours in. Moving from map to map takes upwards of 30 seconds, which is starting to really wear on me. The game is installed on an SSD, but all the save files (and my Windows install, which, yes, seemed like a good idea at the time and which I now regret) are on a regular hard drive. During a loading screen, the cursor usually pops up after just a few seconds, but it takes much longer to actually autosave the game and let me play. This whole thing could be worked around temporarily if there was an option to disable autosaves on map transitions, but... nada. Anyone know if there's a trigger we can flip in the data files somewhere?
  8. I just installed the Backer Beta today, and it's entirely possible that I'm missing something obvious, but now that I've finished creating a character, the "Done" button is still grayed out and I can't proceed. My first guess would be that I picked some combination of things that aren't available in the beta. Here's my character: Male Human Paladin - Darcozzi Paladini Mig 15 Con 15 Dex 10 Per 12 Int 15 Res 11 Rauatai - Laborer Colors: Cyan, Dark Green Facial Hair 6/13 Head 3/5 Hair 13/15 Portrait: blonde armored dude with a goattee. Voice: Male Wizard 01 Any ideas?
