  1. Maybe they finally decided they would rather let us have fun than "balance" everything? I'm having a lot more fun in Deadfire than I did in PoE 1 and part of the reason is how grossly overpowered you can become. If that's the only way you can have fun you should just play on easy instead of want the rest of the player base punished because your ego doesn't allow it.
  2. Just turn the AI off. Short of a conditional specific to having arcane dampener it's not surprising that would happen.
  3. Either you're really lucky or you've played nothing but Bethesda games and Dwarf Fortress for ten years.
  4. I've encountered far more bugs in Deadfire than Pillars 1 but that's the nature of bugs I suppose. You're not necessarily guaranteed to get them. To be honest pretty much everything about Deadfire seems worse than Pillar 1 at release to me but the presentation and the mechanics. And even the mechanics I have to take on faith because the game balance is so terrible. Everything that isn't 3 levels above you or more on PotD is trivial. Fights are either a cakewalk or like a Dark Souls meme. It's like almost all the effort in development was spent on either mechanics overhauls (which do look promising) or the relationship system (which seems to have been a ton of work to implement a complicated system that nonetheless gives exactly the same results as companion interactions in Pillars 1). Granted I haven't finished the game yet, but after 30 hours I think I have some idea of how things are looking.
  5. I've gotten Gift from the Machine from the second Eothas convo but that's it. Given the sheer number of permanent buffs possible in Pillars 1 and how very short the main quest of Pillars 2 seems to be, I'm skeptical you ever get them all back in Deadfire.
  6. How does one maneuver so you're facing the opposite set of guns on an enemy ship? A number of times I've entered combat, noticed the enemy ships starboard guns are all long range and their port guns are all short range I want to maneuver such that I'm facing their port guns but no amount of jibing, turning, or speeding ahead does it. I'm always facing their starboard side. Am I missing something obvious?
  7. To a certain extent him being very conflicted on the issue would make sense but bugginess and lack of reactivity are just as likely explanations.
  8. Given how obvious the problem is I doubt QA missed it. I doubt they had much choice in the state it was released in.
  9. I bet he has exactly the same attitudes and opinions as all the other Edér's.
  10. Yeah, I get that. It's the kind of thing that happens in every single game with save import.
  11. My understanding is that usually QA is completely aware of this stuff but powerless to fix it before release. My final opinion of the game will depend greatly on how it looks after bugs are resolved. I'm not impressed with the companion side of things at all so far but if it's just because of bugs I'll look on the thing much more favorably after a fix.
  12. The world state creator doesn't work anyway either. Tell it Edér is the Mayor of Dyrford and while he starts with the medallion, he acts like you never did his sidequest in Pillars 1 and has all the Aedyr related dialogue. God only knows what else is broke that isn't obvious. Though I'd guess not much, since the smaller stuff that does work is very small indeed.
  13. I get being mad but really you should have expected this after every single other game that has ever done save importing.
  14. So much for what Sawyer said about them. I guess it's better than going full Bioware at least.
  15. The point of pre-ordering isn't much different from backing the game. You're essentially just funding current development on the promise that you will eventually get a completed game. There hasn't been any purely consumer oriented reason to pre-order games since digital distribution became ubiquitous.
  16. Can't wait for save importing to be fixed just to find out that Edér behaves exactly the same regardless of his ending too. And Aloth. Pallegina really sucks in this game anyway. She was underwritten in Pillars 1 but I had high hopes for her here. Instead it's like she had all the parts of her brain not responsible for being angry scooped out of her skull.
  17. Is this by any chance happened after Xoti harvested a soul? Have the same problem in Betta Patch Yes but she absorbed her first souls pretty early in my game so not sure if that's it.
  18. I should have tried that I guess. But that's good then, i was kind of disappointed in the relationship system so far but maybe I'm just missing klots of content due to bugs.
  19. PoE 5million stretch goal - 'Now with 10% less launch bugs!' I'd accept the bugs in exchange for Ydwin being an actual character. She has by far the most interesting premise and most potential plot relevance of all the companions but she's relegated to the least fleshed out sidekick in the game. Not sure why they didn't mention what she actually was in the figstarter pitch, might have brought in more donations.
  20. This has happened to me three times now. Companion chimes up saying they want to talk, has the little dialogue bubble above their portrait, and when I click on them they just have all the old exhausted options. Two out of the three times were in the palace at Neketaka. Xoti and Maia were the companions effected. Edér another time before that. I'm torn about this. On the one hand I certainly don't want to be missing interesting conversations, but on the other if it's just a display error then I'm a bit worried the companions just don't actually have much to say.
  21. It was released with a lot of bugs so they could get more money to spend on fixing the bugs. That's software for you. A bit sad though. Obsidian was almost to the point where it could shake that reputation for especially buggy unfinished releases but lately they seem to be back to their old tricks.
  22. Same here, only with Tekehu-- I didn't recruit him until very very late in the game, completed one quest with him then he got benched. So side convos, nothing. I intentionally avoided learning about his character so I could have him tag along the whole game on my next playthrough, then what happens? His "I'm into you" relationship dialogue triggers after a damn ship battle where he's not even in my party! I'd have to agree , this is very off-putting. Would Xoti have done the same thing at this point too if I hadn't already completed her story earlier on? I hope they fix this Tekehu is a ****, it fits.
  23. Might also help the quality of companion writing. I mean Tekehu seems like the type that would try to bump uglies with the watcher within a few hours of meeting them, but suddenly Maia talks about how great I am and wants to be friends with privileges after a single convo. She seems cool but it's offputting. That conversation was clearly written to come up after significantly more time was spent with the character.
