Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry

I heard the antis drove a gater to suicide, but I think thats unconfirmed. Only violence so far I believe was a guy was attacked and driven from his apartment when his roommate's friends found out he was a gater. That guy was a fraud. Can't remember his name, but it turned out he had a history of taking advantage of people who took pity on him. He was living at his girlfriend and she and her friends kicked him out because he was an emotional leech who refused to get a job. He then tried to get GG to support him in various ways by making up a story about how he was kicked out for supporting GG. I believe while people were feeling sorry for him he even managed to get Mercedes Carrera to let him bunk by her place for a bit. Anyhow, the truth eventually came out and everyone basically told him to piss off for being a manipulative cretin. -
DC Comics signs off on R-rated 'Batman: The Killing Joke' movie This could be quite an intense adaption of The Killing Joke.

So it looks like that Justice League Dark movie is moving ahead with Del Toro acting as a producer, if not directing. Scott Rudin To Produce “Justice League Dark” With Plans To Shoot In 2016 I'm really excited about this movie. Way more excited about it than most of the other offerings from the DCEU or the MCU, but I feel like I'm the only one. Everyone else is like "Eh, yeah that sounds nice, I guess."

I've always been more of a Darkseid guy.

Yeah, I had a laugh at the thought of an cat being trigger-shamed, but I assume they're talking about institutions (eg universities) putting safe-spaces into place. -

The -shaming suffix is being added to a lot of odd things lately. -

Alright, and here's something humorous (and more on topic): This bizarrely pretentious review of Prison Architect. A snippet: -

Only somewhat related, but I thought that these two pieces were interesting due to their relation to freedom of speech and freedom of expression: This Royal Throne of Feels, This Sheltered Isle, This England Another article by Popehat, this gives his quick musings on Bahar Mustafa being charged with tweeting under the #killallwhitemen hashtag. I pretty much agree with him. She shouldn't be charged, maybe disciplined or removed from her position by her superiors for her constant sneering, but definitely not charged with anything by the authorities. I'll stand by her right to free speech, even if she wouldn't stand by mine. Teacher Loses Job Due To Lack Of Trigger Warnings In Comics Course? Bill Sienkiewicz Raises The Alarm So apparently a teacher was fired for not putting trigger warnings in his teaching. Teachers fearing to offend their students' sensibilities seems to be a growing thing, and I don't think it's a healthy dynamic. -
Sounds somewhat similar to Trick 'r Treat, a horror movie set on Halloween with several somewhat connected stories. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, actually. I thought it was going to be terrible, but was surprisingly legitimately good.

It fits in this thread too, so I don't think anyone will be bothered by it. Edit: Calling it now: "Actually, it's about ethics etc." -

I'll repeat what I said in the SC thread. I am not a backer of SC. But from what I've heard everything points towards SC being a massive disappointment. It'll be one of three things, horribly broken, a hollow shell or it'll just never come out. That said: -Escapist should have put more effort into verifying their sources. Their efforts sound lacklustre in their explanation article. -Roberts should have been given an appropriate time to respond. As Glasgow said on twitter, the article was not time-critical, so a few days would not have mattered. -Derek Smart has a weird murderboner for Star Citizen. I don't think he's a particularly good source for anything SC related. I like Lizzy, but this article was unwise. Before writing something like this you have to make sure you've got absolutely everything verifiable and correct, otherwise you're generating controversy for clicks and may even be damaging someone's name. Lizzy is still new to the journalism game, so I'll give her some leeway as she was probably very excited about what looked like her first big scoop, but The Escapist's editorial staff should have been more cautious. So yeah, I think there was some bad judgement here. Regardless, if what they say is true the truth will come out in a few months due to to the development team running out of funds. -
I think that anyone who honestly believes that the game will come out as promised is deluding themselves. Hard. SC will all end in tears. I mean, does this sound at all feasible in the slightest? However I have to say I'm not all too impressed with how that article was put out. They should have put more effort into verifying the sources, and given Roberts an appropriate amount of time to respond. A pity, because I rather like Lizzy. Also, while I think that people need to call out bull**** where they see it, Derek Smart's murderboner for Star Citizen is distinctly odd.

Which makes me wonder: What would a creature the size of a human that had an exoskeleton look like and how would it operate?

I don't think that's how it works. Edit: But I'm sure you'd find someone, somewhere insane enough to defend it.

Went over to a place that keeps horses and picked up a bunch of horse-crap for the garden. Hopefully it makes the beds look great because our car stinks now.

Mr Chmielars has written a review of Phil Owens' recent (and already infamous) book that had an excerpt posted on Polygon. You know, the one where he complained that a site he was fired from was catering to the ****lord demographic? A review of "WTF Is Wrong with Video-Games?" A little excerpt: Edit: Owen is now just straight up cussing at devs that didn't like his book. I guess Ken Levine was a bit too high-profile for him to call a ****head though. -

He won a gameshow I guess. He's not particularly sane either. He has however somehow managed to become a semi-famous writer on various sites. He was a Jeopardy winner who won by being an arse.
