Unfollowed Milo today. I've always been a bit leery of him, but his recent tantrum where he hypocritically defended Breitbart for engaging in the same bull**** witch-hunts that places like Gawker are notorious for engaging in just made me realize that I haven't enjoyed his antics for quite a while. Thank God that Cathy Young is still paragon of reasonableness.

Maybe the headlines would go something like this: "Witcher Villain is a Lazy Stereotype" "Brothel Scene from Witcher Game Raises Concerns About Depiction of Human Trafficking in Third-World Countries" "Witcher Bandits Reinforce Arab Stereotype" "Witcher Fetishises Women of Color" (Bonus as that one was already used for Witcher 3) "Why Are Those Bloody Poles Appropriating Middle-Eastern Culture? They Should Stick To Polish Stuff."

Not sure if there's a direct equivalent, but I think there's a I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Arabia in the game, which is where one of the main antagonists from the first game is from. A game set there would be pretty great, I think. I've only read Last Wish and Blood of Elves from the books so far, so not sure what they have to say on it.

About the article? Sure. Brianna Wu recently wrote an article on The Mary Sue stating that Samus Aran is a transwoman based on evidence that I could charitably describe as "flimsy". (It's far more likely that her "evidence" was either a transphobic joke itself or an inside joke from the team about how Samus was a male character for a while in development.) There was someone trying to edit the official wikipedia page to state that Samus Aran is trans. They didn't succeed. Also Wu has now gone on to twitter with her grievances:

Yeah, there's quite a few ***holes in GG. Maybe not the army of woman-eating Hitler-clones they're painted as, but still a bunch of unpleasant twats. Luckily they're largely outnumbered by rather pleasant, reasonable people, but given that the ***holes tend to jump down people's throats for little reasons they can give a rather unpleasant flavor to things.

While I do think that MoS gets unfairly derided I do think that it deserves some criticism. My biggest problem with the movie wasn't the necksnap itself, but the harshness and dourness leading up to that point. People just tend to remember the necksnap because of the accumulation of many smaller problems that eventually peaked there. Still, I love Superman and I hope he gets some more solo movies. This time without Goyer. If Snyder does do the Superman solo movies (probably won't have time between BvS and Justice League) I hope he gets back together with Larry Fong to do them. I wonder which DC property Miller will want to do if he's not on MoS2.

You might be interested in this tidbit: George Miller Reportedly Directing Man of Steel 2 I thought that Warner Bros would want to snap up Miller for the DCCU after Fury Road's critical success as an action film, and I may have been right. Keep in mind that it's still not confirmed, but I don't think it's too unlikely.
