  1. Good luck to Iran to be honest. Getting the technology started up and running is one thing. Taking care of it for the next 25 years without having a major industrial accident... well that's quite another.
  2. I'm not heavily into all the Tom Clancy crap, but Delta Force was modelled on the SAS, and even they themselves recognise the SAS as being superior. I have no idea why you're comparing the SAS to the Navy Seals as they're an entirely different model, but if you're looking for a comparisson I suppose you could look at the SBS. Now those are some tough bastards. As for a link to stuff, try google or wikipedia.
  3. SAS > Delta Force Sure you win on numbers, but we all know who wins on quality.
  4. And the rampant cancerous growths? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't claim to be an expert, but I highly doubt microwaves would cause cancer below amplitudes that wouldn't cook you to death beforehand anyway, even over prologned exposure. It might even reduce the risk of cancer by annihilating weak cells (fast growth cells for example). You have to remember microwaves are below the frequency of light, which we get absolutely blasted by all day from the great mother of all bombs in the sky (not to mention all the UV, x-ray and gamma ray cosmic radiation).
  5. Under 40 hours is too short for a CRPG in the style of D&D, which is probably why I haven't bought one in a long time. I think I bought Beyond Divinity the other year, which tbh could have been a good game but I never got pass the first chapter, given that the voice acting was do unbelievabley intolerable (you've gotta hear it to appreciate how bad it was, really). I see the usual two people banging on that 20 hours is enough if the story is great, but imho I disagree. Fallout 1 had an excellent storyline, but that didn't stop it feeling like a prequel expansion disc to Fallout 2. Actually I played Fallout 1 *after* Fallout 2, and probably wouldn't have bothered playing the 2nd one if I'd played them in the 'correct' order, (well I might have played it, but I certainly wouldn't have paid $50 for it, that's for sure!)
  6. Meh, I like MMOs. If it weren't for chinese farmers, IGN and ebay letting people ruin the economies I'd probably love them, but I'm afraid such things turn every MMO into **** after a while. Not so on NWN. If you find a decent PW it's like a mini MMO without any of the bad crap. The only two major problems are PWs have a relatively small player base and that the technology doesn't stay up to date.
  7. If you want to rip the game tracks you'll need an acm to wav converter, there's at least one out there. All the battle tracks are split into about 4 to 8 bars long to allow dynamic playback, so you have to use something like good old sound recorder to string them back together. Personally if you have the time this is the best option, as you can compose the tracks to your taste.
  8. It's called a faraday cage.
  9. Fallout was about 24 hours gameplay, and I didn't nearly enjoy it as much as Fallout 2, which was considerably longer.
  10. Yay, cos I haven't heard that line before.
  11. It depends from what perspective you read it. I'm used to PR bull****, so stuff like: "PW makers are very motivated, very talented people but they still represent a relatively small portion of the people who want to play the game." really winds me up tbh. To you it's probably a gentle way of saying that side of the community doesn't matter. To me it just sounds patronising. No you've got me wrong, I actually agree that designing a game focussed on maximum profit is fair enough. Nobody is forcing you to buy NWN2, there are plenty of other games out there to buy instead. *However* given this news that the SP is looking to be around 20 hours long like Heart of Winter, then I think I'm perfectly entitled to think Obsidian have done the lame thing, cutting gameplay for nothing but a few shiny graphics and a quick sell on the back of Oblivion.
  12. More difficult? He actually said it would likely be impossible "not in our wildest dreams" to have a mod with 10+ large areas, which imho is a perfectly reasonable amount. I honestly don't think this is for the majority of fans, but for the majority of wouldbe fans. NWN2 is looking for fresh customers, the same sort of people that bought Oblivion. Why do you think Sawyer said: "NWN2 will have just as many graphical features (if not more) than Oblivion." I've noticed he likes to reference to Oblivion a lot, probably because it's relevant as it just came out, fair enough. I also think it's because that's the sort of market NWN2 now wants to leech off. That's exactly my point, which is why I'm baffled at the decision to release the game only 20 hours long. No argument there, let's look who was on the design team: Chris Avellone, Stephen Bokkes, John Deiley, J.E. Sawyer <- oh **** :/
  13. Agreed. Really, so long as it's satisfying and a damned fine example of a game, why's 20 hours so short? If there's extensive replay value, which there should be, judging by what's already been said by the devs (I know...but I still trust them.), then that 20 hr game turns into 40+. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah yes I see, this was a cunning tactic by Obsidian. Cut the game down to twenty hours and everyone will say "only 20 hours for a game that could make or break their company? It *MUST* be good!"
  14. Nothin' wrong with any of that. As to overall SP length, who has the time to play a 60-hr game, anyway? Is a 4-hour movie necessarily better than a 2-hour one? Quality over quantity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, I agree, he's a normal bloke afterall, probably has a mortgage to pay off, maybe even kids to feed - so yeah he's perfectly entitled to tell the PW community to shove it. Maybe as a result those people in the PW community won't buy the game, but that shouldn't matter to him, as they're the minority and therefore don't matter. What gets me though is this revelation that the game might be the same length of time as Heart of Winter (which was crap tbh). You're film analogoy... I dunno it's like comparing apples to pears. Yeah a 2 hour film might be better than a 4 hour film, but I've never played a 20 hour RPG and considered it to be even remotely good.
  15. Maybe it's really 60 hours long, but the other 40 hours come as two seperate expansions. ^_^
  16. Bastard!
  17. Click Me You have to read through the whole thing. Imho by the end of it Sawyer looks quite the ****, but I'll leave you to judge for yourselves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And for revenge, you look like one now. I don't really give a damn what they do to MP as long as the SP is good. So, to me, he looks like a knight in shining armor. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You kind of missed the point of the whole thread then. *IF* the campaign is 20 hours long, *THEN* he nerfed MP for nothing.
  18. I'm afraid it's you that looks childish now, but like I said my opinion is just that: my opinion. You have my permission to make your own, assuming you're capable.
  19. Well, so long as he ate it afterwards. Technically it's not animal cruelty then, he was just 'hunting' it.
  20. Click Me You have to read through the whole thing. Imho by the end of it Sawyer looks quite the ****, but I'll leave you to judge for yourselves.
  21. It would be a shocker if it was true, given that Sawyer has justified the nerfage of multiplayer to make room for a more profitable singleplayer campaign.
  22. He wasn't Asian by any chance?
  23. If Microsoft made TV Dinners You must first remove the plastic cover, but understand that it means agreeing to accept and honor Microsoft rights to all TV dinners. You may not give anyone else a bite of your dinner (which would constitute an infringement of Microsoft's rights). They may, however, smell and look at your dinner. You must tell them how good it is. If you have a PC microwave oven, insert the dinner into the oven. Set the oven using these keystrokes: \mstv.dinn.//08.5min@50%heat//. You then enter: ms//start.cook_dindin/yummy\|/yum~yum:-)gohot#cookme. If you have a Mac oven, insert the dinner and press start. The oven will set itself and cook the dinner. Be forewarned that Microsoft dinners are subject to frequent crashes, in which case your oven must be restarted. This is a simple procedure. Remove the dinner from the oven and enter: <ms.nodamn.good/tryagain\again/again.crap. This process may have to be repeated, and might solve your problem. Many users have reported that the dinner tray is far too big, larger than the dinner itself, having many useless compartments, most of which are empty. Microsoft says these are for future menu items. However, the tray is so large that it will only fit in the largest industrial ovens, forcing many users to upgrade. Dinners are only available from registered outlets, and only the chicken variety is currently produced. If you want another variety, call Microsoft Help and they will explain that you really don't want another variety. Microsoft Chicken is all you really need. Microsoft has disclosed plans to discontinue all smaller versions of their chicken dinners. Future releases will only be in the larger family size. Excess chicken may be stored for future use, but must be saved only in Microsoft approved packaging. Users get excited about having veggies with their Microsoft dinners, often telling their friends about it, as though this were something new. Microsoft promises a dessert with every dinner after 1998. However, that version has yet to be released. Users have permission to get thrilled in advance. The box for the TV dinners is so large that it will not fit in many smaller freezers, and the shape prevents the storage of any other brand of dinners. Microsoft dinners are often not compatible with other dinners in the freezer, causing your freezer to self-defrost. Calling Microsoft Help will elicit the explanation that your freezer probably should have been defrosted anyway.
