  1. There are a couple places that you can hide while you run down the clock. Like Will says, you can hide in the far corner, behind the bumper cars and only have to deal with about a dozen enemies that come your way. You can hide around the corner of the one apartment building. There is a little L shaped corner on the right-hand (looking from the ferris wheel) side. In addition there is a little shack just in front and to the left of where you are told to drop Capt. whats-his-face. If you go inside there, and go prone under the table you'll get bombarded with grenades, but 99% of them will land outside the shack. It might take 2 or 3 tries to not get that one lucky grenade that gets thrown through the window, but no one will come inside you shoot you. Of course it's easy if you just sit in one of the hiding spots. It's a huge pain in the ass if you actually try to protect the other guy (even though he's invincible) and shoot all the enemy soldiers.
  2. Heat isn't that hard. The sniper extraction mission, without hiding, is harder. Just keep using those airstrikes. Once you get past the house at the front of the field it's a cakewalk. Toss an air strike outside, then maybe one or two more down the hill, then just sprint down the left hand side of the map. I generally die more often trying to get back past the field than I do in the entire rest of the mission. Don't forget your smoke grenades as well. Enemies won't hit you if they can't see you.
  3. I still prefer their review of Real Life. They gave it a 9.6.
  4. Gah! Kill it! *push* Hated that encounter my first time through.
  5. I pretty sure he did have one of those moments.

  8. One of these days I'm going to have to go on an IE binge and actually get through all those games. I've played BG2 a couple dozen times to completion, but I've never gotten past Chapter 6 in Baldur's Gate, never touched Icewind Dale 1 or 2, and have only played about 30 minutes of Torment. Maybe after exams are over in April...
  9. Wrong Forum. There is a Kotor 2 section at the bottom of the main forum right here. Did you check that section? Did you check the stickies at the top of that section? Perhaps the one labelled Kotor2 Technical FAQ, Statistics & Mod Info, Read first... common issues... including Windows Vista. That sticky post has a link that leads to another post that talks about Vista issues right here. Check this link (from the Vista solutions post). It's about the "Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic has stopped working." issue.
  10. Why does that magnum have a scope on it?
  11. I'm about half way through Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon right now. Haven't gotten any of the bonus missions, cause I'm awesome and don't lose anyone. Well, that's not entirely true. I did lose one character, but I didn't have the right guy to recruit him and I really didn't want to restart that level so I killed him and went about my business. Current most badass character goes to Draug, my level 1 general with the following stats: HP 45 / Str 14 / Mag 1 / Skill 12 / Spd 16 / Lck 7 / Def 22 / Res 3 Weapon ranks: Lance A, Bow E I almost gave him the boots that increase movement by 2, but that would have made him obscenely strong. I send him out during missions without any weapons just to use him as a big huge freakin' decoy. The only things that can hurt him are magic users and the occasional boss character, but even those bosses only do 2-3 damage per hit with silver weapons. I use him to block single width hallways or doorways while Merric stands behind him and blasts anyone that dares come close with his magic. Cain, Abel, Merric, Lena and Caeda are all level 15 or higher (Lena is 17) and are closing in on promotion level. I've got two master seals waiting at the moment. Ogma (Mercenary) and Gordin (Archer) are level 11 and 10 respectively. The rest of my usual squad is rounded out by Beck (Ballistician , Barst (Fighter 6), Darros (Pirate 4), Julian (Thief 6) and Navarre (Myrmidon 6). Any remaining spots are either ignored or swapped in for Minerva (Dracoknight 2) if I need the second flier. I just found the silver card two levels ago and used it for the first time. Bought 20k worth of steel and silver weapons to outfit my characters with and I still have around 55k left not counting all the crappy iron weapons I could sell. On a side note, what is up with all the people with blue hair? Blue hair seems to out number any other colour.
  12. Biggest technical complaints here are 1-2 seconds of pop in time for textures to load fully after an area comes up and load times for the battles which take from 5-10 seconds. Not too bad, but they occur so frequently that they can really get annoying. It would be nice to see the game recognize what input method you are using and tailor to button prompts to that so you aren't constantly trying to figure out where they hell they've mapped right bumper to on the keyboard. Performance is great on my computer. Running it at 1920x1200 with everything on high and there was no noticeable slowdown. It's got about an hour or two of play time from what I saw depending on how quickly you rush through the demo. EDIT: Supposedly the button prompts will change depending on input. Maybe I'm just an idiot and missed something when I went over the control options. No mouse support for the menus is a disappointment though.
  13. 18 year old boy with a reasonably sized sword? He's the guy on the boxart. Can't speak for any of the other characters though.
  14. Did they actually say that you play Shepard in every game? All I remember was that you could transfer your save. Sounds plausible, what with my horrible memory and all.
  15. I love how everyone is going "NOOO! He can't be dead! I wasted all that time powerleveling to 60 because you said I could transfer my character over!" It's interesting to see how many people are seeing save transfer = character transfer.
  16. I need more practice with the shotguns. I always seem to empty the clip yet still end up surrounded by zombies. The problem with the subway tank is that often it shows up before you get any of the T2 weapons so you've either got the submachine gun or the normal shotgun, neither of which are great against a tank in close quarters. We had fun taking down the tank at the gas station in one of my last advanced runs though. He spawned by the lift so someone ran over to the gas station and shot him to lure the tank over. Unfortunately he blew up the station a little to early and got caught in the blast himself. The explosion actually doesn't kill the tank outright, but he can get trapped under the rubble which will cause him to die after a minute or so since he can't see you and you can't hit him.
  17. You should try Expert with Darkshape, me and either Ric0 or Phoenix (I think you've played with each of them). We slaughter expert. I don't think I've played with Phoenix yet, but I've played with the other two. I've got Zombicidal Maniac thanks to you guys. Cleared out Death Toll and Dead Air. You guys cleared those levels almost as fast as my advanced runs take. It's insane. I've tried expert with a couple groups of randoms since then, but I haven't had much luck finding a group that doesn't suck. That and an AI director that doesn't spawn a tank in the subway on No Mercy. Or a group that doesn't think it's funny to shoot the car at the end of that level as we all limp to the safe room.
  18. I joined Bok and a couple other guys on expert Blood Harvest earlier. We got our asses kicked. I joined in on the second level which took us about a dozen tries before we managed to get past it. The time we actually beat it we got lucky and the tank spawned early in the train yard so we could all take potshots at it from the catwalk. Two of the guys somehow ended up down on the floor with the tank and got mauled, but Bok and I survived the tank so we got to handle the crescendo event by ourselves. Again we got lucky and there was a gas tank so I dropped it right in front of the door into the little room. Bok opened the door then ran back out up onto the catwalk while shooting the gas tank to give him some time. Up on the catwalk we made a stand on side nearest the door where the zombies were too stupid to get to. In order to get to the area we were on you have to walk across a narrow girder and none of the zombies got more than halfway across before falling off. A couple managed to make it up to us from some other route, but mostly we were unreachable for the normal zombies. Bok got smokered a couple times, but didn't get dragged off until after almost all the zombies were gone so he only lost 20 health. We managed to beat the rest of that level easily enough. The third stage owned us good. Near the start you exit the underground area into a large open section with lots of zombies where the director was fond of spawning hordes either in front, or from the tunnel that we just left. A number of times we got wiped there, several more we got wiped in the outside area on the way to the next train tunnel. The one time we made it to the train tunnel we got mobbed by a horde and someone decided to throw a molotov into it where three of us were standing. The three of us burned to death while the fourth survived with 15 health or so to go get mauled by the tank that was standing right by the train at the end of the hallway. He lit the tank on fire, but then ran into the darkened back of the tunnel and got clobbered by 5 zombies without the tank even coming near him. Eventually we gave up and just started shooting each other...
  19. Arg! Just finished a round on No Mercy. The first time through the finale, some jerk hit the call button before the rest of us even made it inside the building to heal and reload. We lasted longer than I expected actually. The jerk got killed off quickly, but the three of us that were left made it almost to the end of the second wave before we were finally taken down. Second time through the jerk (Name was SFX) had left so a new guy joined up. We made it through the first wave easy, even with one guy on the chain gun the whole time. I think I let one guy get through and hit him once during the entire wave. The tank knocked one of us off the roof and pounded the the rest of us good as we tried to help each other. The second wave was rough with us ending up in the staircase and completely surrounded. The other two guys were downed and I was in the red myself. I picked them up then got pounced by a hunter, but I survived with 2 health. Managed to heal up just as the Tank came up the stairs. One guy was downed and pounded on. I managed to get up on top of the roof, but as I was backing away I grabbed the stupid ledge instead of just dropping off. I ended up stuck hanging off the top of the chain gun building as the tank repeatedly climbed up and then fell off because there wasn't enough space on the corner with the little metal rod. He just kept trying to climb up and failing until he burned to death. The third guy tossed a pipe bomb and rushed over to grab me before we made a dash for the copter. He got ahead of me and was swarmed when a boomer vomited all over him. I tossed a pipe bomb that I picked up off Francis corpse and ran on ahead but got caught by a smoker right in front of me. It starts constricting me and I can see Louis coming up the ramp towards me. I'm thinking "Yes! I'm saved!" But no! He just runs right past me and into the copter while the other two guys are laughing their asses off over their mics while Louis keeps saying that he was blinded by the boomer and asked where I was. "Right in front of you! You ran right past me you jerk!" and the others just laughed even harder.

Damn. Ottawa lost in OT tonight 3-2 against Colorado only 20 seconds in. Ottawa was 4-0-1 on their road trip and still have not swept a 5 game road trip in franchise history.
  24. It's kinda sad that you're building this really old legacy computer with throwaway parts, yet most of the components are equal/faster than the system I was using up until last summer.
