  1. But with awesome AI.
  2. I don't know how reliable this site is as a source (I googled it), but this is what I've read in the past. I've never heard of that. Interesting. What I posted, I read in a book on Tolkien and his interest in philology. THIS book.
  3. Who? The only one I can think of is C.S. Lewis.
  4. Elves like the ones in Tolkien's fiction didn't exist before he invented them. Elves were some kind of tiny forest folk in english folklore. In fact, Tolkien made elves tall, beautiful and noble because he thought that, etymologically, the name "Elf" shouldn't belong to some foolish creatures prancing around in a forest. So "modern" elves are entirely his creation.
  5. Just saw Brokeback Mountain and Munich. They're both quite awesome. I think this is the first time that I've seen the Oscar nominations so well supplied with good movies.
  6. John Mayall - I'm Gonna Fight for You JB
  7. While Tolkien didn't invent "tolkien-style" fantasy, I dare say that without him the whole industry built around it wouldn't exist. Imagine, a whole world without David Eddings' or Terry Brooks' books. Bliss, I say.
  8. That's what so great about SS2. That sense of fear it creates in the player without it having anything that's inherently scary. I still don't know why the monkeys' screams scared me to death or why the robots asking me if I need anything fill me with dread. It's truly amazing.
  9. Go to TTLG. There you can find everything you need to get it working.
  10. Star Trek: Elite Force is a pretty sweet game. It's quite short, though.
  11. "They see you! Run. Run!"
  12. Finally beat 20 25 secs! (w00t) And I finally found a way to get my post count up. :D
  13. And it keeps getting better!
  14. Woohoo! Sem_t

No, I'm talking about the awful writing, the shallow characterization, the craptastic, predictable story and the complete waste of a perfectly good theme for a book.
  16. It's a toss up between RPG and smart FPS, with TBS coming behind a close second. It's funny, because there are several RPGs and FPSs that I love to pieces but among TBS games the only one that I find really addictive is Civ (Alpha Centauri included). That's not to say I haven't enjoyed games like MOO, Stars!, Disciples or Jagged Alliance, but none of these took control of my life like Civ, System Shock 2 or Fallout 2. There was once a time when I really enjoyed adventure games, but nowadays they just isn't true anymore. I loved Monkey Island for example, but now I think that if the game wasn't so funny I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. It seems to me that the gameplay in those Lucasarts(or Sierra) adventures was really awful.

Because it's impossible to ruin what's already ruined?
  18. Job system for the win?
  19. DOOM, scary? Have you played System Shock?

    Oh, god no!
  21. Now, that's an understatement.
  22. It is worse than crack. Also, girlfriends and civ don't make a good combination. Unless, I suppose, she plays Civ too but, of course, I've never met one of those.
  23. Glenn Miller - In The Mood
  24. But Civ 4 is a game you really, really want. Even if you don't know it yet. Hear it calling: "Buy me, buy me. Succumb to the power of gaming goodness."
