  1. I don't know about that, but there was that one locker on the Ravager with "Dopefish Lives" scrawled on the inside of the door.
  2. Wow, that was an honest to God, "LOL" right there. Thanks, Baley. Cats are jerks. I hate those elitist bastards. At least dogs don't look at me with disdain all the time.
  3. Youngstown, Ohio, U.S.A. 2005 graduate of Ohio University - straight into the ranks of the unemployed! I guess if I lived in the UK I could "go on the dole," eh? God, I love that phrase for some reason.
  4. Transplants - DJ, DJ On paper, this looks horrible... Tim Armstrong, the unintelligible voice and rhythm guitarist of Rancid, Travis Barker, the pretty boy drummer and reality TV star of Blink 182 and "Skinhead Rob," a former Rancid roadie, decide to form a band. It's not what you'd expect, or maybe it is - there's definitely some punk here, but Armstrong discovered ProTools and loops and dubs much more than he did even on "Life Won't Wait." Also, Skinhead Rob writes his rhymes about his hard life on the street - some of his parts are ridiculously bad, but the songs are mostly catchy as hell. Between the electronic blips and abrasive shout-rapping, you might be better off with Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards if you want an old-school punk record from a Rancid alum. But the first Transplants record (avoid the second one at your peril) is a real kick in the teeth to the cookie-cutter mall-punk scene.
  5. Warren Zevon - Dirty Life and Times
  6. The best part of that song is "if you GO! i will surely die." It's just so unexpected. I love Joey Santiago's guitar on that song though. Total minimalism, just bending the hell out of those notes. And nice catch, Kor.
  7. Mojo Nixon - Don Henley Must Die (if your store don't have Mojo Nixon, well then it could use some fixin') He's a tortured artist Used to be in the eagles Now he whines like a wounded beagle Poet of despair Puffed up with hot air He's serious, pretentious and I just don't care Don Henley must die Don't let him get back together With Glenn Frey, Don Henley must die Turned on the TV And what did I see This bloated hairy thing winnin' a Grammy Best rock vocalist Compared to what? Bunch of pseudo-serious Kraft angst-a-matic Satanic plot Don Henley Must die Put a sharp stick in his eye, don henley must die Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya Oh (insert "Hotel California" solo over bridge) Quit playin' that crap You're out of the band I'm only kidding, can't you tell? I love his sensitve music His idiot poetry's swell You and your kind Are killin' rock and roll It's not because you
  8. Yes, yes he does. When I saw Tomahawk live last year, he performed the distorted verses of that song through a gas mask. The effect was tremendous. Right now: PJ Harvey - Big Exit
  9. Last one before I take off for the weekend - Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World
  10. Or "Copacetic" I like grooving to 'Love Train" by the O'Jays. Could we be twin brothers from seperate mothers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unbelievable. Next I'll start finishing your sentences. I hope this isn't like a force bond... don't go getting your hand cut off in a lightsaber battle now, Kor.
  11. Oh man, some great choices here lately! Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Fantastic, epic story from Mr. Knopfler - "We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms..." Local H - Bound for the Floor Another winner. One of my first bands used to cover this. Thank you for not calling it "Born to be Down." FB & the Catholics - Bullet "Everybody is all abooooooooard..... Let's take it back... to that minor chord!" And my pick: The O'Jays - Back Stabbers
  12. Rocket From the Crypt - Break it Up ..... and the answer to the trivia question: The Pirates were the first baseball team to field an all-black lineup. This was seen as a major victory against racism, one that Chuck D honored by wearing the hat.
  13. That is a classic - the first PE song I heard. It was on the Tony Hawk 2 soundtrack if I remember right. TRIVIA QUESTION: Why did Chuck D wear a Pittsburgh Pirates hat all the time back in the day? I'll be back tomorrow to see if anybody gets it!
  14. Niiiiice. In honor of Public Enemy making the boards, I will now listen to "911 Is a Joke." And yeah, Kor, that Wallflowers song is off their new album, Rebel, Sweetheart. I think it's probably better than Bringing Down the Horse, but no one is going to hear it because their moment in the limelight has passed, sadly.
  15. The Wallflowers - We're Already There
  16. That could be it. I try to avoid Top 40 if I can ... it was harder at school because we only had one strong FM station and it played allllll the big hits at the rec center, the gym, the dining halls, ect. If it is Gwen Stefani, it's a shame. No Doubt really wasn't that bad.
  17. Speaking of Fiddler on the Roof..... Has anybody heard the horrible R&B/hip hop/pop hit that swiped the hook from "If I Were a Rich Man?" It blows my mind what passes for musical creativity these days. Anyway, I'm listening to "Bhindi Bhagee" from Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros "Global a Go-Go" album. It's fantastic. If you've listened to Sandanista you know the range of music the man is capable of creating. With the Mescaleros he works a lot with Tymon Dogg, the fiddler that was in on a lot of Sandanista.
  18. HAHAHA..... Oh yeah! That song rocks so hard, so ... self-righteously.... well, it's just amazing. If DNF ever hits the streets ( ), that needs to be the opening theme.
  19. Favorite Pixies song? I havn't heard alot of them, but I never liked much other than "where is my mind". I'd like that to change. Dane Cook - retaliations <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My favorite Pixies songs are, incidentally, the ones that got me into them in the first place: Debaser and Here Comes Your Man. Those two are absolutely timeless - I've heard them so many more times than all the other Pixies tunes, but I still think they are the best.
  20. KOTOR 2 would have been much more interesting if it kept the "different class, different BAB" from KOTOR 1. At least then the hack and slash level wouldn't have been such a walk in the park. Well, it still would be for guardian/weapon masters. Eh, whatever. Oh yeah, and I agree that the star forge was the superior endgame - due to the dramatic cutscenes, encounters and dialogue. Malak's music was pretty sweet too.
  21. The Beatles - Don't Let Me Down Here's to another 72 pages! :D
  22. Thanks for the recommendations, Kor! Right now: The Pogues - Sally MacLeanne
  23. Pinkerton = best Weezer album. I don't know much Teenage Fanclub, but "Dumb Dumb Dumb" is a pretty cool song by them. Sugar is great; anything Bob Mould touches is usually pretty good. Right now: Husker Du - Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill
  24. It's got me so down that I got me a headaaaaache! Listening to "Bastards of Young," by the Replacements. Nice new sig Laozi.
  25. Tony Xenos - Snowmen and Knit Hats Tony is a friend of mine from college... even though he's been teaching math for nine years, he still plays around town. He's a fantastic singer-songwriter, a huge R.E.M. fan and an all-around good guy who will party with you all night. :D http://www.tonyxenos.com/mp3.htm You can get some of his stuff here, including the track I mentioned and some live recordings. My band played with him at that May 19th show; it was fantastic. He has mp3s of his covers of "Personal Jesus" (Johnny Cash style), and that Postal Service song, "Such Great Heights."
