  1. Not sure I agree with this statement either. Not that I dislike PS:T. Matter of fact, I enjoyed it. But I'm not sure what you mean by "do not have the ability to appreciate". If you mean its complexity, I got it. I just don't herald it as much as others do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I woiuild rather noiit expoiuind oini that statement.
  2. Oh oik, I meant in terms oif the type oifi gameplay. Anyway I alsoi doi think that noi game will come cloise in terms oif greatness buit I doi agree that that is my oiipinioin, since there are many peoiiple whoi doi noiiti have the ability toi appreciate the greatness oif planescape toirment.
  3. Thats noiti an oipinioin. The fact is that the laws of the market makes it almoisit impoissible that a game like pst will be made. Alsoi lightning doiiesnt strike in the same place twice.
  4. That's pretty cool actually. It's the best posting gimmick since Gromnir-speak! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Toi be hoiniest I wish it was juisit a poisting gimmick, buit uinfoirituinately it isnt.
  5. Noi game that coimies cloisie toii planescape toiriment will ever be released. This is a sad and uinfoirituinate fact oif life.
  6. I never argued how well or how poorly they did it. I simply pointed out that roshan's comment was inaccurate when he inferred that you can only play BG ONE way since playing it as good or evil yields the same result. That's not the case, as if you're evil, the game "punishes" you big time by having guards attack. Whether that was properly implemented is irrelevant, since it was just a matter of whether ANYTHING different happens depending on how you play. If roshan's original comment was accurate, then regardless of whether you were good or evil, the guards would react to you the same way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yoiiui cannoit "play" balduiris gate 1 as an evil character becauiise perfoiirming oine evil actioin resuilts in de factoi game oiver. After doiiing an evil actioin(even petty theivery), EVERYOINE EVERYWHERE attacks yoiui, thuiis preventing yoiiuir proigiress in the game and foiircing yoiui toi quiit the game and reloiaid and take the goioiidy twoi shoiieis roiuite in oiirider toii be able toii coiinitinuie. Being able toi perfoiirm ONE evil act befoire getting a de factoi game over hardly constituites being able toii PLAY THE GAME as an evil character. Alsoi take note that I specifically mentioiinied "meaningfuil" roileplaying oippoirtinuities in my poist. The key woird is meaningful. Alsoi, I mentioined changing dialoigiuie, balduirs gate doies noiti react throiiuigh dialoiiguiiuie, it juisit reacts by making everyoinie try toi kill yoiui (even evil characters)!
  7. I agree that planescape toiirment is the best game ever. AFAIK IWD was released after PST. Alsoi pst woiiuild have been released with oir withoiuit balduirs gate as planescape toirments develoipment preceded the release oifi balduirs gate, and at that time it wasnt expected that ablduiris gate woiuild be a huige suiccess.
  8. I find it a little ironic that his post complains about games not allowing you to choose various ways to play the game and has no affect on the game world, then makes the above statement when a game does offer something different if you make one of those choices. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actuiially that is a mechanic that was puit intoi place in oirder toii stoip peoiiple froiimi being evil. See, in Falloiuit 2, if yoiui massacred a few toiiwns oir became a slaver, yoiui coiiuild still coimiplete the game. Yoiiui woiuild have boiuinty huinters all oivier yoiiui, and peoiple in the toiiwns woiuild react toi yoiuir being an evil bastard. Buit in Balduirs Gate, rather than making peoiple react throiuigh dialoiguie, they instead decided toi make guiairds attack yoiu, and when that happens the entire toiwn attacks yoiui, and wherever yoiui goi in the gamewoirld guiards and civilians will all attack yoiui. This ends whatever roiile playing experience yoiui were having and makes coiimipleting the game impoissible. Thuis, killing peoiple in balduirs gate resuiilts in a de factoi game oiver foir yoiiui. The guiards in balduiiris gate were oinily there toi foice players into taking the goioidiy twoii shoieis roiuite.
  9. Try Arcanum, one of my favourite rpg title. Also, you can try Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I woiuild never play Arcanuiim. I have standards. As foiir Vampire I doiiinit play FP rpgs.
  10. Actuially I didnt mentioini anythign aboiuit oild days, I oinily mentioined specific games. Toi be hoinest I doiinit think 3 goioid games coiuild make the perioid the goiioid oiild days. Balduirs gate was juist a randoimi example. If yoiui want yoiui can suibstituite it foir moiisit oif the rpgs oiuit there. PS. My keyboiaird is buiisted.
  11. I just want to rant about the general crappiness of all the rpgs out there. Why the hell cant rpgs offer multiple solutions to quests, changing dialogue and have the choices you make impact the game and its storyline? What the hell is so difficult about implementing this? So far the only rpgs Ive played that have these features are Torment and the Fallouts. Recently I replayed Icewind Dale 2. It wasnt bad at all. I had a good time killing the monsters and building up my characters. In fact I got really into the game and had a great time. However, recently, I downloaded Tutu, a program that makes Baldurs Gate 1 use the BG2 engine and thus adds all the new featuires found in the game. I alsoi downloaded several mods for baldurs gate 1. At first as I wandered towards Beregost I got into the game, primarily due to noistalgia. But as I did quests I quckly got bored and decided to stop playing the game. It was simply horrible and unbearable. The character I made had no impact oin the game whatsoever. Everyone treated me the same way as if I had made any other character. I couldnt be evil because then the guards would be all over me. All the quests could only be solved using one way, and my choces abouit whether to do the quiests or not were completely meaningless to the game and its story. UInlike Fallout and Torment, which I have replayed innumerable times, Baldurs Gate did not provide any sort of meaningful roleplaying opportunities. Aside from the statistics and the experience, it was basically an adventure game. I just miss the old days of playing Fallout and PST, and Im longing for a new game that can provide a similar experience.
  12. Mark Morgan's score for Torment was good, but can't compete with Brian Williams' original score for Planescape: Torment in terms of mood and atmosphere. Unfortunately Williams' score was, a few months before the release of the game, replaced by Mark Morgan's score. Don't get me wrong, I like the stuff Mark Morgan has written for Torment, but I thought that Brian Williams' stuff (the stuff I've heard) fitted the Planescape-setting a lot better. Other than that, to get back to the original topic, I love the music in BG1, IWD and in Bard's Tale 1 and 2 (Amiga version only). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where can I find the tracks made by Williams?
  13. Did you install tutu into the bg2 directory? the setup - tutu file should be in your bg2 directory in the main folder with the baldurs gate 2 exe file. Also, you need full installs of both games. And, did you install both games on the default directories? If not then you need to change one of the tutu files and put the path you installed it in. Another thing is that the games need to be the patched versions. The official patch is required and baldurdash is recommended.
  14. No, its not, although IMO it should be. tutusound - http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php...d=143&Itemid=98 1 pixel productions - http://forums.forgottenwars.net/index.php?showforum=159 AFAIK these mods should also work on bg2. the following is a complete modlist for tutu: http://modlist.pocketplane.net/index.php?ax=list&cat_id=98
  15. I think its definitely worth it... tutu really improves the bg1 experience and the new mods add a lot. One of the reasons why I didnt play tutu before was because it would be the same experience in a different engine, however now that there are good mods for it i thought ill give it a try.
  16. My TUTU, mods and backup copies of bg1 and 2 are taking up more than 10 gegabytes of hd space.....
  17. Tutu has been around for a long time, but afaik as the versions have gone by its become a lot more stable and bug free. There is a mod for tutu that restores the paperdolls back to the bg1 ones, and those have been updated to show things such as dual wielding and others. The only problem is that the character avatars use the ridiculous looking shields of bg2/how/iwd2. Another mod restores combat sounds and spell castings sounds back to those of bg. I wanted to play an elf archer, but i wasnt sure whether to use the archer ranger kit or a fighter archer kit that this mod added, in the end i went with the ranger version as its cool to be a ranger in the forests of baldurs gate 1. Im planning to get npcs like faldorn, jaheira and kivan and make a wilderness party. I just returned to candlekeep after gorion was killed, and talked to the keeper of the portal, and imoen interjected! The dialogue was quite good. It definitely adds a lot to the experience.
  18. This is a program that converts the Baldurs Gate 1 content to the Baldurs gate 2 engine... So it has the art, music, dialogue, story, plot etc of baldurs gate 1, with all the advanced features of baldurs gate 2 including kits, half orcs, barbarians, higher resolution etc. There are also a lot of good mods for tutu including an npc project that adds bg2 style banters and quests to the bg npcs. Play this now!!!!! Its icredible.
  19. There was nothing "comparatively" bad about torments graphics when compared to the other ie games. The character models have some of the most fluid animations, the most amazing spell effects and a lot of great artwork in the areas.
  20. I actually liked the one with Jessica Biel..... Havent watched the original though.
  21. Which is the original? The one with Jessical Biel in it? Or some really old movie?
  22. I don't think I could do that with any of the chicks I would want to score with. I mean, stay home playing D&D instead of going out for some drinks and slutty-dancing? Yeah right! Not that I don't like staying home for a RP'ing night, mind you... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could do some sort of erotic roleplaying. Cybersex is basically online erotic roleplaying.
