I think youve made the correct decision. I regret buying this game at all (and I regret even more that I bought the LE)
-
At first I posted here that I find the game enjoyable but now its just too much for me and I think that the game is outrageously bad. I just cant think of any excuse anymore for why the game has all the problems that it does. Thus I have concluded that it simply is a bad game. A patch isnt going to fix all these problems. It needs at the very least a couple of expansion packs before the game can be considered playable.

No. I frequent these forums, but I am yet to play a single Obsidian's game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats really wierd. Have you by any chance played any BIS or BIO game?
-
Thats only because this isnt a CRPG like Baldurs Gate 1/2, Fallout or Torment. Hell, it cannot even be compared to games like Icewind Dale. There is nothing to this game except the critical path. You cannot enter any of the houses. You cannot attack anyone at all except those marked hostile by the game. The areas have only one route through them that you must follow and there are almost no optional places to visit. You cant even decide who you want in your party, characters are forced on to you by the game. Unlike any traditional RPG, there is 0 freedom in this game. Other RPGs are hard to test because of so many options and so much freedom given to the player. There is really no excuse for this game to be riddled with bugs.

Most of the regulars on these boards are fanboys. Thats a fact. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fact? According to whom? Care to list the names? There are not so many regulars on these boards. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would I want to start labelling specific people? Its all common sense anyway. If they werent fanboys then they wouldnt be spending so much time on these boards.

Not only that it takes hundreds of clicks on the PA button in order to get the attack mode to start up again. Sometimes my characters get killed while I am struggling with the PA button. I havent played any game this buggy since Arcanum.

Actually that guy is right and I agree with about 80% of his points. NWN2 is really a load of garbage and I find it shocking that any company can put this on the shelves and still be able to sleep at night.

Yes, that's right, you are the only sane person and all your complaints are perfectly rational and inexcusable: everyone who dares to have a differing opinion is a blind fanboy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of the regulars on these boards are fanboys. Thats a fact.

I had the same bug.

If I switch the game to widescreen resolution, the game crashes on startup the next time I try to play it until I restart my PC. When I restart, all the games graphical settings are reset to their defaults and I need to adjust pretty much all of the settings again. Another problem is that there seems to be a very bad memory leak as when I play for a long time it starts lagging tremendously. Also, the engine does not seem to be optimized. Whether I run the game in max graphical settings or the minimum settings, there isnt much impact on the performance. I would say that performance at the minimum settings is only about twice as good as the max. (I have a low end PC) The game has a lot of graphical glitches specially those involving character animations. Characters magically slide across the screen with their knees bent as if skating on ice. Sometimes I move a character to a place, select another character, and then select the first one again and the character teleports back to its original location. There are also a lot of very noticeable typographical errors. Its quite obvious that no one proofread the games script. The interface of the game is a clunky as it could possibly be considering that it is supposedly a modern A title(Refer to my complaints in the interface thread). Standard interface features that have been developed years ago and have been tried and tested in countless games are not found in NWN2. The game shouldnt be out on a shelves in its current condition. Its a beta version at best and needs a lot of playtesting, debugging, optimization and improvement.

Black Isle and Bioware had a lot of fanboys willing to rush and buy NWN2 right away. Nowhere near the same number of fans that Blizzard or Bethesda have, but still a significant number. I dont think that it is a coincidence that many of the NWN2 lovers have been on these boards a long time.
-
I disagree. Lots of the people on these forums have been around for years, they are hardcore Obsidian fanboys... They havent played a half decent rpg in years and will hungrily gobble whatever garbage is thrown at them. Most of those defending NWN2 seem to be in this category. Of course I dont post in the BIO boards so I dont know what the situation is like over there. Either Obsidian was just plain lucky to have these hordes of rpg hungry masses around or they were smart enough to realize and take advantage of it. (slam dunk)

Its really quite ridiculous that NWN2 doesnt have this when the original did (and right out of the box, if I recall correctly.) Icewind Dale 2 may have had it as well. This game shouldnt be on the shelves in its current condition.

There was a bug while fighting him. All of a sudden he had a blue circle around him, but he was still attacking me. I could attack him but he was unkillable. I dont know if this was because he was still in a frenzy or because he wasnt marked as hostile. Then there was the usual glitch where the characters would magically slide around instead of playing running animations. Another problem was that when I reloaded, before the game would actually show up, Lorne was already beside my character and got in 3 hits. The last 2 are not about the fight in particular, its just horrible game design on Obsidians part and the resulting poor quality of the game. At the same time I had crashes at startup after exiting the game until I would restart the computer, then all the graphical settings would be at their default values and I would have to change all of them back again. I think it was because of running the game in widescreen mode. BTW when can I get Sand back?

I have just decided that NWN2 is garbage and a waste of 40 pounds.... Whatever enjoyment I have gotten out of the game has been surpassed tenfold by the disappointment, frustration and raised blood pressure that it has caused me.

I hated that stupid buggy battle with . I cant believe any self respecting company would release games with garbage like this. BTW I finished the battle and

I was wondering, is there actually any way to win the trial? If so, then how do you do it?

How do I get into the cave covered by the rock? I sold them off a long time ago and cant remember where.

Which one?

The backstory of NWN2 has many uncanny resemblances with the story of Harry Potter. I am only in chapter 2, so I will see if the story becomes more or less similar to the story of Harry Potter later on. 1. The main hero has a scar, and a magical silver sword embedded within him. Harry potter has a magic scar. 2. Harry Potter was the only one who survived Voldemort. The PC was the only one who survived the battle with the king of shadows. 3. Harry is protected because his parents died saving his life. The main character in NWN2's mother died shielding him from the battle, the shard passed through her, killed her and entered the PC. 4. PC had an unhappy life living with Daeghun. Harry Potter had a bad childhood living with hus aunt and uncle. 5. Voldemort had an evil army, the King of Shadows had an army of demons.

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
roshan replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
they are all the time roshan. hell, even lethal weapon was a story about one partner forced on another. are you like, that far out of touch with reality that you don't realize this? your posts are actually completely pointless. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They are forced on the character in the movie. The character on the movie isnt you. In games the character is you so companions are being foced on you. -
Having a goddamned farm girl in my party completely sucks. She even sounds like a sheep. I want Bishop instead! I currently have Neeshka, Khelgar, Elanee and the sheep.
-
Dont forget the number of kills, favorite weapon and favourite spell/special ability.
-
The characters chip in during conversations but they dont banter amongst themselves. They hardly start conversations with the PC except during important points. The party is quite lifeless. BTW, where do I find that girl after she runs away from her farm?

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition

In movies companions are not forced on YOU! In NWN2, companions are forced on you. Bringing up movies is completely pointless.
