  1. What the hell is that. Not prosecuting him in such a clear cut case is insane
  2. I meant weapons and basic supplies. I doubt the Russians have been giving them tanks, if they have, it must have been no more than a handful. Its common sense that a large force would lead to the front being pushed westward. Nothing of the kind has happened therefore there is no invasion.
  3. The reporter said he didn't point the gun at the officers. There was a man with a gun in front of the Serbian government the other day, he was pissed about his military pension and was waving the thing about in a very busy street. The police defused the situation and he gave up the gun. That is proper handling. That is what European cops usually do, which is why there are very few such videos from anywhere other than the US. The consequences for cops for shooting anyone in Europe are usually quite harsh and there is little of the ridiculous departmental protection seen in the US. This kid wasn't given the benefit of the doubt. He did not threaten, there was no verbal confrontation and... he is a kid. Kids play games without thinking about the consequences. The imperative is to talk him down and defuse the situation not to fire away like its the wild west.
  4. Well if they are there, they definetelly dont want full scale war, because if they use paramilitary forces no-one can accuse them of being there - and by the way, even russia say there are there, but on vacancy Its no secret that volunteers have been streaming across the eastern border into Ukraine. Probably gear with them as well. But an organized army incursion simply did not happen or we would have seen a massive shift in the front.
  5. It was a 12 year old kid doing the sort of stupid things 12 year old kids do. He did not even point the gun at the police or threaten them. Get a grip man.
  6. The Wolf Among Us - It was fun to experience but not all that much fun to actually play, as there is little...playing.. involved. 7/10 In other news, I gave up on Original Sin (in Cyseal, Act 1). It just doesn't keep me interested. The ratio of fights to quests leans heavily towards the former and it somewhat wore me down to have to fight the same enemies all the time at the rather unforgiving standard difficulty. With no real characters or storyline to provide motivation I was asking myself "why I am playing this anyway"? To make matters worse, I was playing in co-op with my gf and we even got tired of the game at the same time. Child of Light 7/10 - pretty art design but the gameplay is too light for my tastes
  7. Man I wish Eve was really that instead of what it is. Yep, I got the trial ages ago expecting it to be like that. Man what a rude awakening
  8. @Volourn You seem to have no idea how human interests work. I suggest you get on a soapbox and proclaim that you will save the world and tell us how long it took before you found yourself in a padded room. I'm fine with that sort of romanticism in Star Wars because its a film for children. I'm not entertained by it in anything that tries to pass itself as more mature. Its trite, its a cliche, a poor writers cop out and its utterly out of place in anything other than a child's fable. Its easy to write it in such a way that the PC has no choice in the matter, but its still crappy storytelling. The BG PC was hounded by enemies and interested parties ever since leaving Candlekeep and had a credible stake in seeing things through. The nameless one also has a credible stake in his personal quest, why should he hide? After all, much of that story is constructed as a mystery and only towards the end do you discover that you even have a tangible enemy that you could "hide from".
  9. Plausible in the sense that its much easier to walk away from any human organization, especially an implausibly altruistic one than it is to walk away from your own blood or, in the case of the nameless one - "sins". Why would any PC force himself to participate in the thankless task of being cannon fodder for darkspawn? Why would anybody choose to be a jedi or a spectre? Why would such a ridiculous organization even exist in the first place? Its all part of the myth of "knighthood" which is fine in the context of a fable such as Star Wars. Its fine in other stories I suppose, but its still inherently implausible because its so utterly impersonal. In BG its do or die, a pure fight for your own personal survival. In Torment its about self discovery and redemption, again, quite personal. Both motivations make perfect sense in the context the game provides. If you don't like the story that's fine, but your main quest is still adequately justified.
  10. Yeah? It's a BioWare game: does anyone remember how terrible Mass Effect 3 looked when it came out? All the stupid close-ups they did of the super low-res character textures...bleck. And that came out two years later... Yeah the first Mass Effect looked great at the time, the second one still looked good at release but by the third one it aged very badly. I'm surprised that Bioware is so behind in the tech race, the Witcher series flat out crushed anything Bioware has done since the first Mass Effect. Particularly W2 which looks about 5 years ahead of the entire DA series, including Inquistion.
  11. I'm saying both suck. Although being an Inquisitor could have been interesting, if it were not for Bioware's political correctness.
  12. The Grey Wardens were one of the most insipid elements of Origins, mere recycling of SPECTRE or jedi concept from previous games. I don't want to be a part of any pro bono save the world organization. The only reason they're in the game is because that way writers don't have to struggle with providing credible motivation for the PC. Instead your participation in the organization becomes a justification for being the galactic errand boy, for the game feeding you tasks and holding the reigns of the plot. At least in BG you're forced into doing what you're doing by your lineage and fate and in PST by your mistakes your previous life. I understand that a story driven RPG must force upon the PC a certain sequence of events (either that or give up on the story, TES style), but for god's sake, let it at least be plausible.
  13. This thread is becoming more interesting than the game itself. Someone should send a link to Bioware so they can study convincing characters and dialog
  14. All the list shows is the overwhelming influence of the larger developers over the organization behind these awards. Separating independent games is really telling, that way its easier to effectively throw them out of the competition for the only nomination that matters, that being the game of the year. In other words, its just marketing.
  15. Ah yes, the missing auto attack. At least with DA2 its obvious the game is a rush job, dunno what they were thinking this time around. The darkspawn movement animation in DA2 is insane, they sort of run in place while twitching their swords and floating forward.
  16. I played 10 minutes of Dragon Age II and I'm taken aback by how horrible the graphics are. Everything is dark and muddy and low res. This is on Directx11 with everything on the maximum. And the gameplay.... I thought people may have been overreacting at the time, but actually its worse than I believed. Power ranger enemies, console combat.... My first impression is that the game is garbage and I never thought this about any Bioware game regardless of how much I disliked them.
  17. Hellblazer had a few dozen decent episodes. Horrendous art though, as with most Vertigo comics.
  18. Something like that. It feels more like supplying material for 4chan yaoi porn than an attempt at "romance".
  19. http://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-refund-policy-being-reconsidered/ Elite developer may give refunds to alpha and beta players now too.
  20. I think its a bit late for a Ghost in the Shell game. All the awesome things the anime had have already become standard repertoire of other games. As for that EVE trailer, that's tantamount to false advertising :D
  21. That's what the game is designed for. Controlling one character most of the time and mashing the buttons. It doesn't need a tactical cam any more than KOTOR or Jade Empire did. The only reason they included it is probably to try to win back DAO players that were angry at the changes in DAII.
  22. Actually the complaints are much farther reaching than that. Metacritic user reviews are full of people disliking the MMO style gameplay, the Ass Creed open world design, the limited tactical options in combat. Even if most of them represent Codex trolling metacritic, there is still some merit to their complaints. I don't know where you got the information that Bioware made this game for the PC since a single gameplay video is enough to show that the game is built around the consoles from the ground up. From the choice of font, the large letters (TV conveniences), the inventory design (gamepad friendly lists, massively oversize lettering) to the combat design (no auto attack, tactical cam that doesn't allow you to select multiple characters instead forcing you to cycle through them, centers on characters upon choosing them) - its a 100% console game. In fact, its pretty much an inferior version of Final Fantasy XII, since that game had auto attack and in depth programmable AI for companions on top of everything DAI has. Here is the information regarding control woes: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/520902-the-controls-for-this-game-on-the-pc-need-attention/?p=17799311
  23. I don't know what the spirit of DAO means, but Pillars of Eternity is just around the corner and its made from the same mold.
