Just got this in the mail: http://www.razerzone.com/projectfiona/video probably the dumbest, most impractical, very likely overpriced, "platform" yet

Maybe Bethesda wants to prolong the innocence of their baby before it's completely corrupted by deviants I think not. Bethesda releases games based on the presumption that the unpaid masses are going to finish it for them. ... with hentai-themed nude mods. All they wanted to include but never dared to. Are you implying that Bethesda it's capable of the level of perversion that permeates the Nexus? Of course. Just look at the poor mudcrab. What about it? You don't think its perverse to include a creature whose sole purpose is to pinch asses to get attention and then die from the inevitable overreaction on the players part?

Dunno if I mentioned I finished Drakensang: the River of Time a while back. Its an excellent game, especially for someone who's just gotten into RPG's.

Well this is the next best thing and its crying for a PC game. I found the core rulebook and supplements fascinating reading. For anyone interested here's a youtube channel where a cool dude reviews pnp RPG's - his review of Fading Suns:

Er, no. Fading Suns is a space opera: It sounds like WH40k but its really much much larger. The books are available for cheap now as a third edition is coming in 2012.

The clicking sound is only second to a blowjob no?

Probably, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. I haven't played a decent turn based tactical game since... umm... I don't even remember.

I agree and I have faith in Firaxis. They earned a lot of respect for Alpha Centauri. So I'm looking forward to finally trying this series for the first time regardless of the graphics.

Just like I said in the WH topic. DnD is dying (for the right reasons btw) and they are unable to revitalize it. The simplification in the 4th edition was a disaster and there's no return to the older variants, so they're stuck because their cash cow just might kick the bucket.

For a great DnD alternative read Talislanta, its on the top 20 best RPGs ever made on rpg.net and its free now! http://talislanta.com/?page_id=5 Every single edition and all supplements released for download by author. I suggest you start with the 4th edition as it has everything in one book. The rules are barely 20 pages long! D&D may be omnipresent but its far from killed off everything. In fact I'd be willing to bet that DnD is on a steady decline ever since fourth editon and the rise of Pathfinder. Now I'm no great fan of Pathfinder as its a re skinned DnD and I had just about enough of the latter to last me a lifetime. However I won't shed any tears over D&D's eventual fall into obscurity. If you wan't something sci fi gothic space opera like WH40k try Fading Suns. I bet you'd like it.

If released in 2005 maybe

Judging from the screenshots, the visual design is very uninspired but I'll play it anyway.

Well. I was kinda anti MMORPG earlier (without ever even trying one). Then for some reason this one started interest me and got it day one. Been hooked ever since. It's not some awesome uber game from heavens that shines in everything, but I've had really fun time with it. Beep! Wrong answer! ... Kidding. It sounds like my first encounter with WoW. Will you subscribe for a second month? I quit WoW at that point. @Gromnir: Alright., thanks. Btw practically all MMO's are very buggy upon release, much more so than sp games. But getting in late, when everything is fixed sucks as well because only the most hardcore, annoying, gits are still playing the game.

The traditional problem with Warhammer games is getting the license. GW are complete asses as far as this is concerned and also rather dim about which game to support and which to skip. Apart from the story that Starcraft designers approached GW and were denied license (thus skipping on one of the most lucrative games in history) a more recent case are Cyanide Studios and their "Chaos League". Only after the game was released did GW give Cyanide the license to make a Bloodbowl game. Similar things have been said about Wizards of the Coast and White Wolf and it basically goes for any large IP. The owners of the IP are often annoyingly hard to work with as they interfere and/or make unreasonable demands, plus the license often costs a lot of money driving up the already high cost of development. On top of that, sadly, RPG's in their pure form are not a popular genre any more and are not viewed as a good opportunity to make money by anyone other than already established giants like Bioware and Bethesda. This is why you shouldn't expect a WH game any time soon, although it is not altogether impossible.

Awww Volourn Btw the game must really be of average quality when the metacritic grade is only 86. If EA couldn't bribe critics to get it into the 90+ range in this day and age you know something stinks. Gromnir! Deathdealer! I want an honest opinion!

No one is going to turn down an offer if its on the table, but since it isn't we might as well squeal for what we'd like to see.

And the sky could fall on our heads, and the sun might decide not to come up and you just might steer this conversation towards something sensible but the chances of all that are very very slim. -

And if God was disproved you would simply dismiss it as the inability of the human mind to properly understand.. You two are a perfect example of my previous statement. No. As others have pointed out the discussion was resolved long ago (by people who made the issue their life's work) with the conclusion that the existence of God cannot be proven or disproved, for reasons that are entirely logical and admitted, albeit grudgingly, by both sides. Taking the logic further the only decision that's left in the relationship between God and man is a personal one - to believe or not to believe. To still believe in the possibility of any form of conclusive "scientific" proof either way is a fool's errand. What I was pointing out is that the issue Gorgon has, has nothing to do with God. His problem is with people who believe, because he doesn't. If he was entirely comfortable with this state of affairs he wouldn't need to jab others over points that were discussed to death years ago. -
The reason there's no RPG is because both have nothing to really bring to the table as Maria has noted and that IMO includes 40K which apart from endless male Space Marine themed masturbatory prose is generally a cardboard cutout. I've read two of the new RPGs, a few army books and a dozen or so novels and I've never seen a really fleshed out universe in WH 40K. Just a bunch of dudes with interchangeable pseudo Latin names doing the whole aryan ubersoldier supremacy shtick on the rest of the universe. The regular WH universe is what, dark DnD? and it does have its own MMO - which has done nothing to set it apart from anything else. On the other hand Fading Suns basically encompasses the entirety of WH40k and has dozens of books that take the universe much further. Not to mention thousands upon thousands of well fleshed out rpg settings that are clamouring for a game of their own.

*sigh* If you had proof belief would be unnecessary. But you don't really want proof, because even if it was handed to you you'd look for a way to question it. Like a militant atheist you're basically annoyed that anyone else dares to believe in what you consider hogwash so you press the issue even though you have all the answers you need to make up your mind either way and be at peace. -
Monies, yes. Plus the "you need to be level 20 and pay 50 gold for training and vehicle" sounds suspiciously like real life to me. I mean, I want to ROLE PLAY FFS, not stand in line at Azeroth Traffic Department for my giant lizard driving license.
