What are you playing now?
I tried FF1-3. I completed 4. I tried 5 and 6. Completed 7.Played 8. Completed 10, 10-2 and 12. I found 1-5 pointless, childish and dated. I never got into 6. I don't like 2D anime RPG's. I can't get into the ridiculously childish characters. 7 was okay, but nothing special. 8 was boring. 10 is my favorite. Sure it had a few embarrasing voice acting moments, but overall I liked it a lot. 12 is well made but the story sucks.

Is that space marine syndrome or are they really just fat.

You're evil because you make bad games that are steadily getting worse. Also, there are no gays in WH40K. Not even the elves are gay, only slightly effeminate.

That's... terrible. I await to hear Space Marine daddy issues and how the Emperor abandoned them when they were only 75 years of age and three meters tall.

Military debate - winning wars, winning battles
The way wars are won differs from epoch to epoch. WWII was won by superior economy/industry and numbers. Modern American imperialistic adventures are won primarily by advanced technology. Also, defining a "won" war today is difficult, without formal combatants which could officially surrender or a ground invasion and subsequent occupation. Even defining war itself is difficult. Today any conflict that lasts longer than what is expected (which is fluid in itself) is rebranded as a war by the media. The participating sides, the agressor in particular (like the US in most ïnterventions") purposefully avoids declaring war because of the legal implications. According to the UN charter war is illegal and the mechanism of collective security must act against the state that declares war. Which is why no one declares war outright anymore, even when its plain that that's what it is.

Does anyone else still play the older stuff?
Neither have I. Its hard to enthuse people for hard sci fi. Or sci fi in general. And the damn system is a pain to learn, compared to others I have on hand.

Torment: Tides of Numenera
Yeah its the Bioware travelling circus all over again. Nah, it's nowhere near that level. There aren't 10 active topics about romances/sex etc. Also the posters aren't accusing the devs of killing their first born children..... Yet. There isn't too much stuff to talk about currently, the 'calm before the storm'. Now when some posters realizes PE isn't going to match up with whatever dream they thought up, that's when the crap storm and fun comes. True, that. I've suppressed the memory of the full extent of BW forum deviancy.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Actually, considering the almost total freedom indepentent developers possess, the actual results are mostly underwhelming. For some mystifying reason (apart from being cheap to make) most of their products are retro clones of outdated games. Someone needs to tell these people that Pong is equally boring in HD. Kickstarter has yet to prove its worth. Sequels to long dead RPG's, as nice as they are, aren't exactly breaking new ground.

Right. That must also explain why Fallout 3, Skyrim, CoD GTA etc. all sell so terrible. Oh wait. And these are all sophisticated, clever games that are beyond a teenagers ability to appreciate? The man is proposing making games precisely opposite to the type you name. That's why he's destined to fail. Skyrim, CoD, GTA are all updates of older games that sold well at some point. That's exactly the dominant way of thinking in the industry and the reason its not likely to go the place he's talking about.

A lot of talk but little said overall. Even less done. Just because some of the people who've grown up with games want something different, something more from them, doesn't mean that the primary audiences are ready for, or even want a different experience. The primary audiences, the kids, teenagers, casual players is where the money is. And they play whatever the new hottest thing is, and its not Planescape Torment or Ico. What the man is actually saying is that he's tired of making games in cloning vats. I can understand the sentiment, but the people financing those projects couldn't care less.

New RPG's you've heard of/played/own
After using any system for a while everyone develops a pretty good sense of what the likelihood of success of any given action is going to be. Sure, apart from a select few role playing games that don't use dice the rest can be expressed in percentages. But, percentile systems never look clean or elegant and character generation can take a while when you have to buy all the skills in points. Also the usual characteristics that are expressed in percentiles are stupidly abstract. How exactly is my 60% in Climbing better than my previous 56% in the same skill?

Jagged Alliance Flashback on kickstarter
I meant something that could be considered a complete, larger budget title. I intend to try FTL at some point.

No. I want to play a kickstarter funded game first before I pay for anything.

Oh and I'm so tired of the juvenile "strong" female characters that display GI Joe bravado, with a "I can do whatever you can do" attitude coupled with teenage angst. My grandmother, who survived WWII, the death of all nine of her brothers in that war, nazi occupation and cared for her sisters at the same time has more balls then they do. And is, lo and behold, as feminine as anyone else's grandmother.
