  1. Did you see the giant Optimus Prime statue?
  2. Yeah, I was hoping that they were going to pull a "Begins" type thing and reboot the Superman franchise. The old movie adapted the pre-crisis world, and this new one is sposed to be a pseudo sequel. It won't directly relate to the old ones, but it doesn't disregard them either. I think thats a recipe for disaster. Also, have you seen the pics from that licensing show? AGAIN they don't make Lex Luthor bald. WTF.
  3. Personally I hope she dies and they introduce Gwen Stacy. Or at least is re-cast. Its really annoying, because Kirsten Dunst is a terrible Mary Jane, but would have been a perfect Gwen Stacy.
  4. They didn't set it up for Hobgoblin, they set it up for Green Goblin 2. Hobgoblin was someone who found a cache of Green Goblin's equipment and used it to rob people. Completely different. As for Topher Grace being a villain, some believe Electro, some believe Venom, but more of an Ultimate Spider-Man version, where Eddie Brock was Peter's childhood friend and a biotech student in college. He's pretty much a mirror image of Peter, only he hasn't grown up with Uncle Ben's guidance, so he's a bit of a bad ass. In Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter and Eddie's parents were scientists working on a regenerative biosuit that could cure cancer. It bonded with the host and repaired its organs and such, but it was put on hold because it took over Mysterio wasn't an alien. He was a visual effects artist. And they can use Vulture, Shocker, Mysterio, and Green Goblin because either they haven't been used in the movies before, or its been set up in the story. It doesn't matter if they've been in the games or not. And Harry was GG in the comics after his dad died, so they can do that too.
  5. Hulk: 120 Million dollar Budget. Which is why Hulk looked so good, it all went into the effects rather than the screenwriter. Hellboy: 40 million dollar budget that he made look like a 60 million dollar budget. That was such a great movie. Fantastic Four: 100+ million They're not using the money very well. Catwoman was another big budget movie that didn't use it very well. Punisher: 30 million. I personally loved it. Anyway Spidey, X-Men, and now Batman Begins(The Burton Batman movies were actually pretty bad and took a huge **** all over the comics) all show that if you respect the source material, you not only make more money, but also end up with a better movie. Theres a reason these characters are popular, the reason comics aren;t read as much as people see movies is because of the same stereotype that cartoons have, that they're for kids. Also as a side note: Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum don't need to grow into more mature roles. Tom Welling is 27, and Michael Rosenbaum is in his 30s. While Michael Rosenbaum would be an excellent Lex Luthor, and proves it every week on Smallville, I just don't think Tom Welling has the chops to pull off the lead in a feature film. He's fine on smallville, but in a movie he'd be outclassed.
  6. I thought there where five co-owners. Like a few of the Chrises own part of it and than one other guy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought it was 3, Fergie, MCA, and Darren. EDIT: You were right. Feargus Urquhart, Chris Parker, Darren Monahan, Chris Avellone and Chris Jones.
  7. With Green Goblin 2 they have an opportunity to fix the damn costume. Anyway, Thomas Hayden Church is likely to be Sandman, they're setting up Lizard for either film 4 or 5, and Topher Grace is apparently another villain. Speculation on the Superhero Hype forums are leaning towards either Electro, or a revamped Eddie Brock similar to the Ultimate Spider-Man version where he's not huge, and is pretty much just how Peter would have turned out if he didn't have Uncle Ben's guidance.
  8. Metallica Our Lady Peace Stabbing Westward Spineshank Mudmen Rise Against Ra Cake A lot more, but I can't think of them right now.
  9. I'd get my parents to pull out all my inheritance money and invest it in microsoft, then pull it all out right before the anti-trust suit. I'd make bets on all the major sporting events up until this point, etc. Pretty much I'd use my knowledge of the future to make myself horribly rich. I'd also tell the Canucks not to play Todd Bertuzzi at the end of that Colorado game.
  10. I think an article based solely on this forum would be a little too specific. Maybe an article on developer forums, the impact forum feedback has on a game's development, the culture of the forums like how the employees of the company tend to have something of a celebrity status to the forumgoers, especially if they post often. You could use this forum for most of your examples, but I doubt people would find an article about this forum specifically very interesting.
  11. Am I the only one who thought of Transformers: The Movie with this thread title?
  12. Recognizable names do not equal good voice acting. Good voice actors equal good voice acting, names are not required. This is something that really bothers me now adays in movies and games. Studios try to pump their animated films or games with big name talent, which costs big bucks, instead of professional voice actors, which comparitively costs peanuts, because people like you are attracted to the names rather than the performances. This is becoming a problem with the live action Transformers movie because the TF fans want the people who played Megatron and Optimus in the cartoon to voice their characters, while the studio wants big name actors to draw the apathetic, which would result in a lower quality product at a higher price. Pixar I've found has struck a good balance. They get one or two names to draw people, usually well known washed up actors that fit the character, in supporting roles(Toy Story was the exception) then fill out the rest with professionals. Anyway, now that thats over with, I loved the game. I think Rockstar were trying their hardest to see exactly how much they could stuff into the game, and put graphics on the sidelines to achieve that truckload of content, which was a good choice IMO. I'm really looking forward to GTA4. It will be interesting to see what they pull off with the PS3's hardware.
  13. So apparently the script that was reviewed was around 4 months old. Which means it wasn't even Vaughn's 6 day script. So there are likely a LOT of changes from what was reviewed there.
  14. What do you mean *possibly* no Nightcrawler? Alan Cumming *IS* Nightcrawler. He was the one I wanted to play Nightcrawler before he was even announced to be playing him. He was contracted for 3 films I believe, so if he's not in X3, neither is Nightcrawler. I don't understand this... I was all psyched for X3 after the Beast/Angel/Juggernaught announcements a long while ago, but the last couple weeks have made me want this movie made less and less.
  15. I'm not sure about the Hollywood studios positions, but I know that most of the technological hardware companies have backed Blu-Ray, so there is one market sewn up ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Hollywood studios were pretty much split. Blu-Ray had a slight advantage but not enough for it to really be worth anything. It was something like Blu-Ray had 47% support, HD-DVD had 45% support, and the rest was undecided. Not that it matters anymore, I heard that they were going to team up and do a hybrid format to avoid a format war, combining the reader and the disc of blu-ray(Faster and more storage) with the software of HD-DVD(More efficient). And to Visc/Hades/Rabbit: The point of upgrading from DVDs to Blu-Ray/HD-DVD would be HD picture. Have you seen the difference between DVD picture and HD picture? Its about the same difference as VHS to DVD. I can't watch VHS anymore after I switched to DVD, the picture is just so far inferior to DVD it just seems like a waste. EDIT: Ok, just did some research and my stats are old. Seems that HD-DVD has the 4 major studios on board, Universal, New-Line, WB, and Paramount, but Blu-Ray has Sony Pictures/Columbia-Tri-Star, MGM, Disney, and Dreamworks, and pretty much all of the tech companies including some major games publishers like EA and Vivendi. HD-DVD just has Sanyo and Toshiba backing it. So it looks like Blu-Ray will be more common for PC usage than HD-DVD, but right now HD-DVD has the advantage for movies. And Epiphany has the numbers wrong as well. HD-DVD holds 15/30 GB, not 45, while Blu-Ray holds 25/50 (1 Layer/2 Layers) but both companies are working on developing discs with more than 2 layers. But chances are HVD(Holographic Versatile Disc) will be out by the time they get the 2+ layer discs out and no one will care. (Prototype is set to be finished within 4 years) HVD can hold a terrabyte and transfer at 1 Gbit/sec where as Blu-Ray transfers at 36 MB/sec and HD-DVD transfers at 19 MB/sec. Also, while blue laser players can read red laser DVDs, red laser players can't read blue laser ones, so Epiphany is mistaken that current players can read HD-DVDs.
  16. The animated series is the best on screen interperation of Batman. Until Begins that is <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd still say the animated series is the best on screen interpretation of Batman. Batman is a detective, the animated series is the only on screen interpretation that is too.
  17. Again, Bioware said they were also supporting the PS3 and Obsidian hasn't stated which one they would support. Personally I think the PS3 and the 360 will be about equal this gen.
  18. Just saw it, damn, it was amazing. I hated the Batmobile when I saw pictures and the trailers, but after seeing the film, I don't hate it anymore. My only gripe with the film was that Nolan can't shoot action. Luckily he made sure there were only a couple fight scenes, with Batman taking the rest out from the shadows. The cast was excellent, looking forward to the inevitable sequel. I actually came out of the theatre thinking "I can't wait for the sequel... I want one now!" Apparently the plans they have for the next two are Joker for the 2nd, and Two-Face in the 3rd. Apparently Joker's trial is in the 3rd... meaning they're not killing him off in the 2nd!
  19. Nope, Wolverine's new costume debuted on Evolution in September of 2002, while the costume debuted in Ultimate X-Men issue #30, which was released in February 2003. I think they changed it in Ultimate X-Men because they saw it in the evolution designs and it fit with everyone elses' costume better than the one they had him in. Ahh.. I wish I still had my season 1 of X-Men Evolution. I have 2, 3, and 4, but I need to watch them in order. Evolution was so much better than the old 90s series... In my opinion of course.
  20. Yeah, they switched not long after they switched in Evolution.
  21. I also liked Dantooine. Especially in Kotor2. The mercenary attack part pushed it above all the others. Nar Shadaa would be 2nd.
  22. Blasphemy! Heroes of Might & Magic 4 ranks up there with Master of Orion 3 in sheer belovedness of sequels... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, I just assumed since 2 was 1 with better graphics, and 3 was 2 with better graphics that 4 was just 3 with better graphics. Never actually played 4.
  23. Jade Empire Ninja Gaiden Halo 2 Honorable mentions: early release of K2 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard Halo 2 was just Halo with better graphics and a crappier ending. As I didn't like Halo, I assume I wouldn't like Halo 2. Why do people keep assuming its hard to program for? Various developers themselves have said its not hard.
  24. Wierd, it was working for me, then Firefox crashed and now all I get is the logo too.
