Its not that bad over here in BC. Hell I remember like 4 years ago it was 15 degrees in the middle of december. The news showed a contrast between Winnipeg at 50 below with a guy walking in a parka in a blizzard, Toronto at like -30 same thing, and Montreal at -40, frost everywhere. Then they showed Vancouver with a girl jogging in shorts and a t-shirt.

http://grrm.livejournal.com/90917.html I don't see what that has to do with Obsidian... Nothing, just that someone else has the rights to do a Song of Ice and Fire game, so I don't see Obsidian doing one any time soon.

So are we all invited?

Well congrats then! Now the next thing you have to save up for is the divorce lawyer!

He wouldn't have been my first choice for Hal Jordan, I see him more as a Wally West Flash, but being a geek and a pretty decent actor, I'm sure he won't intentionally **** it up. heheh, Green Lantern is married to Black Widow.

So I take it it went well?

Basically what we figure is going on, is before she went on maternity leave there was a management change, everyone that worked there before quit because they couldn't handle working under the new manager, my GF is the last one left so we figure the new manager is trying to get rid of her so she can't be an influence on the new staff. http://www.childrens-foundation.org/pages/home/home.php This is who she works for. Oh, the rep they are trying to force on her is a shop steward who hasn't finished his training yet.

Getting stressed. Girlfriend just got back from maternity leave not long ago and her job is ****ing her. Contractually they have to return her to her position she had when she went on leave, which is a 3 day daytime position with first look on auxillary shifts. They returned her to an overnight position, which is nigh impossible to work when you have a 10 month old baby. So she's been dealing with the union, but the company is being slimy. So far they've asked for 3 doctors notes stating she can't work nights, and they've turned that around as saying she can't work at all and forced her onto medical leave until she provides a doctors note stating otherwise. This sucks as she just used up all her EI benefits on maternity leave so we won't have any income coming from her until this clears up, our monthly expenses are roughly 2300 a month and I bring in 1500. They say theres no day shifts available. Which there aren't because they're giving them all to auxillary staff who are A) Lower seniority and B)Lower on the auxillary list. The union worked out a compromise where if she applies for a posted part-time 2 day a week daytime position, she can keep her seniority and spot on the auxillary list as well as giving her a guaranteed extra shift a week. Basically... her old job. But now they're making her interview for the position and saying they can no longer guarantee the 3rd shift. Oh, and they keep postponing her meetings because they insist that her union representation must be of their choosing and not hers. Her current representation is the head of the local. Basically they're awful human beings.

You think thats bad, I was on a 2nd playthrough, 2nd playthrough I tend to use the editor to make myself some equipment, so I had equipment that gave me pretty decent hit bonuses, plus true seeing. Well, True Seeing doesn't do anything. Shadows and invisible people still were twice as hard to hit as regular people, I quite often saw things like *miss* (13+12 = 25)

The movement editing isn't in the beta. There are 4 stance selections available that determine your movement. Regular, Heroic, Bestial, and I can't remember the last. Regular is just a regular stance, with normal movement. Heroic gives you the superman chest foreward stance and you run like a brute, bestial is the all fours, and the 4th if I remember right is a variation of bestial. I haven't made a character recently. The lag was so bad the game was unplayable for the last 2 weeks, and when it was finally fixed for friday's playtest I spent the whole time doing quests. Whats awesome is the ability to choose any power when you get a power point to spend. If you want to do a character that uses ice and fire? Doable. How about a martial arts expert who dabbles in the arcane? Sure. A gun wielding telekinetic, yup. Also there is like 12 different travel powers, including your standard flight, jumping, super speed, and teleportation from CoH, you also have flying discs, ice sled(like iceman), rocket boots, fire flight(like human torch, you're engulfed in flames when you fly), etc. Overall, it feels exactly like City of Heroes, except that the world reacts somewhat to your actions. The tutorial level is an alien invasion of Millenium City, once you beat that the invasion is over and millenium city is normal. I then went to Canada, and defeated some sorceror who was calling down storms, and the storms of the level stopped. I just beat a zombie lord who was sposed to be summoning all the zombies, not sure if that made the zombies stop spawning or not. Gameplay is exactly the same as CoH, but missions have a lot more depth and once you finish major ones you get actual tangible evidence of your actions in the world. I haven't gotten far enough to get my nemesis yet.

Brutal Legend - Tim Schafer's new project

Apparently they've licensed like 50+ metal songs for the game. -
So I guess Yahtzee posed a challege to the dev teams behind Prototype and inFAMOUS. He thought they were equally good, and to choose a winner, the devs needed to portray the opposing team's lead character in lingerie. Whoevers was best, won. http://chud.com/articles/articles/20048/1/...OOBS/Page1.html So here are the resulting pics. Personally, I think the Prototype team wins this one. I'd like to see more of these types of inter-house challenges.

What for, Stan Lee created some of the mythology of Spiderman and fantastic 4, and countless other well known superheroes. For this limited to moderately impressive accomplishment he somehow managed to become even more famous than the artists who actually made the comic books. What is the big deal about Stan Lee, other than the fact that he is still alive. With the exception of some iconic fantastic four and even less spiderman the writing is pretty bad. He became Iconic because while he did only come up with the basics for most of the marvel heroes, he was the driving force behind most of the best story lines in the early days, and he made the business successful again after the war genre moved out. He's basically responsible for comics as we know it today (in terms of writing and story). I think part of it is that he's the person people go to to figure out exactly what Marvel characters should think (since they all pretty much come from his brain). Also he has a great sense about self parody (see "So you want to be a Superhero" or whatever reality show that was, and the various robot chicken clips), and is a generally likeable guy. Particularly in an industry where some guys can be total jackholes about things (Alex Ross won't draw anyone who was created after the silver age, Dan Way bans people for asking why he only writes five sentances in a book, Greg Land traces porn and says he doesn't...) Yes.

Stan Lee will be my big one. The guy is almost 90, I hope he's one of those guys who lives to like 110, but I know it won't happen.

I think 300 is a hilarious concept. Its a movie, based on a comic, which was based on a movie. Apparently they're working on a sequel. Frank Miller writing a comic which will then be adapted for the screen. Sounds good to me, except for the whole Frank Miller sucks at cashing in on his own success thing. Dark Knight Returns big success, so he pulls Dark Knight Strikes Again out of his ass and its terrible. Sin City movie does well with him Co-Directing, makes the Spirit suck balls.

The Autobot Twins were Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. Sunstreaker was the yellow lamborghini and Sideswipe was red. Sunstreaker was the vain hothead, sideswipe the more prudent. Haven;t seen the flick yet but apparently they made sideswipe a silver corvette and didn't keep sunstreaker with him. If they wanted a single corvette transformer there was always Tracks.

I enjoyed them immensely. Couldn't put them down. I agree with you about the cliches, but found them to be very entertaining, if a bit preachy about Goodkind's political views.

I think the reason people like it so much is that it's so political and complicated that they can't wrap their minds around it. Also it's more like real life than anything (where things never go how they're supposed to) else in the genre. but it does take FOREVER to get started and doesn't really kick off until the wars of succession begin amongst the various noble houses. Which (I think) really starts in the second freaking book (and these are 7-800 page books!) Is it good? If you can stand the slow pace then yes, but if you're looking for something that you don't have to slog through (for the first bit) then pick up something else... Like Insturmentalities of the Night :D I like it because its not too cliche. The only real cliche is the old evil returning, but its not a huge part of the books yet as it hasn't returned in full quite yet. I also like that being a medieval society, the Nobles are the only important people. Peasants are peasants, not epic heroes.

Another vote for A Song of Ice and Fire. Sword of Truth is also excellent. Currently enjoying L.E.Modesitt Jr's Recluce series. Word of warning about them: not a lot happens, but for some reason the way he writes makes it interesting. A 700 page book about a guy learning about balancing order and chaos within machines while he makes ends meet as a blacksmith and toymaker... somehow extremely compelling.
