  1. It's fun, but don't expect a deep and compelling narrative. There should be a demo somewhere around as well...
  2. Nothing like hard facts in the morning.
  3. The time of concepts is over, these days you need execution as well.
  4. Flip a credit card?
  5. I think you're not fully grasping the fundamentals of D02...
  6. Bah, D02 eats its lunch.
  7. A Yuuzhan Vong did it!
  8. I guess Deathspank is a parody as well, but the humor might not be up everyone's alley.
  9. The ones that went multiplatform or have a recent release in the series. The original idea was to list games that you think are obscure to other people. Obviously it won't be obscure to everyone, but it might clue some new people in and make a nice round hive mind in the end.
  10. I already mentioned Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden.
  11. Actually Diablo II has very specifically defined attack speeds for different weapons, modified by skills and weapon qualities up to the frames of animation. Obviously you haven't played Diablo II seriously, mang.
  12. 1. See what other people have posted. 2. Notice trends 3. ... 4. Profit! And Homeworld is exactly on the point of being obscure to most people with a heavy console background. This isn't about being successful, but about being widely known.
  13. And we're off!
  14. Umm, this thread is for older and/or obscure games.
  15. Tell us how you really feel. Also, it's pretty obvious that Revan ran into the Yuuzhan Vong.
  16. So yeah, my point was that labeling things leads to expectations which will more often than not lead to disappointment. I understand that it is pretty much unavoidable, but I do urge people to try to evaluate games on their own merits instead of what you think they should be.
  17. @Tale: Yes, but whichever genre you decide to label a specific game under, the content of the game will stay the same. I just think that people tend to get stuck in the minutia instead of taking every game at face value. Games aren't designed by fitting different genre "blocks" into place, it's the final product that matters.
  18. I don't think putting a pretty little label on everything does the medium any favors either. It's just another bit of minutia for fanboys to argue over.
  19. I thought I'd resurrect this thread from its shallow grave once more for all the new people. I can't think of anything to add at the moment, though.
  20. Defining genres is a mucky road that always ends in a horrible mire filled with shoggoths and despair.
  21. That's what it said in Wikipedia under survival horror. I personally couldn't care less about the genre.
  22. Resident Evil actually started the survival horror genre.
  23. Official patch instructions v1.2: Back up your saves, lock your doors and shutter your windows, write your will and then try the patch.
  24. Well, they are from Europe. You can use the physics to chuck things at the enemies, but it's not very effective.
