My point was, why hasn't it been done well, so that the satisfaction from doing the deed is the reward. In Half-Life 2 Episode 2, for example the developers talked about using vistas and interesting things to see as a reward for the player.

Why have gameplay choices with little to no effect? It would be better to just skip the choice or make it purely aesthetic, eg, good makes a rainbow trail after you while evil gives you devil horns. To bring some reality into the situation? Usually you don't get anything but gratitude for helping someone. You choose that because your character is good and would help them, not to get some reward(which would actually be selfishly motivated).

Call of Cthulhu now on steam for $11.19

You find the . My point is that the game tries very hard to be a shooter in the second half, but the mechanics are lacking. The parts where you don't have a gun are much better than the parts where you do. Also the If anyone is interested there is a (full) playthough of this on youtube and some good discussion in the Rebel FM game club -
Some new info about the World of Darkness MMORPG

I want to be able to first stake the vampires, then cut their heads off and fill their mouths with holy wafers and holy water. It also sucks that WoD vamps can enter homes uninvited and cross running water -
I cant remember much either but a few points that I do: 1) The V's were actually a genetically engineered slave race that escaped from the true bad guys. (or maybe that was their cover story) 2) Due to said engineering, they had two hearts to make them tougher. 3) Salt water was like sulfuric acid to them. And milk made them drunk. They'd be able to have awesome parties here on Earth, but instead they want to slave all of humanity

It would have had a bunch more atmosphere if there were only a few deep ones and they wouldn't just go down from a few shots. Imagine a single deep one stalking you on the ship, dropping in and killing a few people and then retreating once you had a chance to shoot it. In the later parts of the game you were killing dozens upon dozens of deep ones and it just cheapened them. At least the Star-Spawn of Cthulhu needed special stuff to take it down. It tried too hard to be a shooter, when the adventure parts alone were enough. -

The rifle was great, yes. Stealth pretty much goes out the window once you get a weapon. The repetition comes from having to shoot a bazillion Lovecraftian horrors which pretty much ruins the horror element. -
I just saw Terminator Salvation. What a sellout! They took all the "iconic" stuff like "I'll be back" and robots stepping on bleached skulls from the first two movies and scrapped anything good. Then they inserted it randomly between explosions and thinly veiled holocaust references(It's like no movie is complete without them). Being human is apparently about having a "strong heart", yay!

The chase ended up being the great search for the right bookcase that is actually usable. I'd say the game was an interesting experiment, the sanity system is pretty cool, as is the health system. There was tons of potential, but all the interesting stuff just doesn't make up for the horrible repetitious gameplay and unpolished-ness. Also bonus points for (mostly)not messing up the Mythos stuff. -

Bah! The beginning stuff is good, but half-way through it pretty much falls of the rails and goes straight into sucky town. It's just not scary anymore when your blowing eldritch horrors and away with shotguns and cannons. The story is pretty much in the Lovecraft spirit, but the gameplay parts are atrocious near the end. "Excellent" is not a word I would put in the same sentence with this game. -
Almost makes you think that digital distribution or Blu-Ray is the way to go for consoles... That 10-year cycle might end pretty sadly. EDIT: It's also pretty funny that someone out there is custom-making 20GB and 60GB HDDs for the 360.
-
Pretty sure the 360 version will ship on 2 DVDs. And the 360 uses lower texture res. I'm sure the 360 users will love switching those discs. How many 360 are shipping on multiple discs these days?
-
It's always funny how they work their evil magic and compress that 20GB down to 8.54GB for the 360's dual layer DVDs. Guess we're getting the super special awesome hyper-real textures again...

Hide your children, they're coming for your HDDs!

Woah, this thread is really going places. Star Trek geeks don't disappoint.

The levels are OK, the "oh noes, the doors lock and necromorphs come out" part got really repetitive. Also there are like 4 different types of enemies with "tougher" versions that look like they got dipped in hot chocolate. After a while just chopping limbs off gets super boring.
-
You have to do that part differently IIRC. Something about having to jump outside the ship and not straight onto the asteroid or something, it's really confusing. There's no way you can jump on it from inside the ship, plant the beacon and get off. Also Dead Space get really repetitive after about half-way though.

French chick is angry because you slept with the Book chick, she just acknowledges that she can't stop you from doing it. Apart from killing either of you, of course, but it seems that's a no-no. Huh. These BioWare romances really are over my head. I am going to pick myself the "Marriage of Figaro"/City Elf background to avoid all that. Too bad they don't have "Beat with an ugly stick", that was a hoot in Arcanum...

Speaking of chicks, what's the name of the half-plant chick?

Wow that's sneaky, real sneaky. It is, I missed it at first as well. I think Harlequin means trickster. It's also a neat-o helmet in Diablo 2... -

You put a whole 17 words down but couldn't supply a link? What is this, the stone age? Internet etiquette 101, man! Interest waning... -
I guess they're regretting wasting all the money on licensing Marylin Manson songs and not bribing reviewers as they used to...
