  1. Yeah, i am big hypocrite and that's the reasn why around 100 Original Games for different platforms are sorted in 5 of my shelves... And yes EA deserves to get pirated to hell for their DRM retardness... You are a hypocrite because you support pirating EA's stuff, but not "honest" developer's stuff. You can't pick and choose, it's all or nothing. Having strong emotions against the company is irrelevant from the moral point of view. And I say it the third time, you can vote with your wallet. Is the concept somehow hard to grasp? There are no warranties for software, whether or not the shop takes it back is up to them.
  2. I disagree. There are different ways to protect information from being used against the owners wishes. Eventually methods will be put in place that work. It's inevitable. The whole DRM argument is silly anyway. Its the game owner's right to do what they want with the game. If they want to take the source code, roll it up in a sealed ferroconcrete container and sink it five miles deep in the ocean, that's their right. It's their game. Nobody else's opinions on the issue are even relevant. But which comes first, the impenetrable DRM or it becoming so intrusive that even the casual users become pissed? That's what I'm saying. If you don't want to support DRM-using games, don't buy/play them.
  3. Actually it was some hidden drm that caused the game to crash after a while. The pirates didn't release a broken game. It was pretty Iron Lore's own lack of foresight.
  4. Fun fact: PS3 is still uncracked. @CrashGirl: As long as the PC remains an open platform, it's unlikely. @RPGmasterBoo: Why buy the game? To support the developer so that they make more games like it.
  5. The militant anti-drm people can be as annoying as the DRM itself. No matter how much you whine about DRM or even use logical well-though out arguments, DRM is not going away in a puff of smoke. There need to be cardinal changes to the copyright law and as long as the old mindset doesn't die, nothing will change. Vote with your wallets, kids!
  6. 60 years after being published, books in the US and become public domain, then anyone is free to scan them and put them online. Google is doing just that. Digital distribution takes care of the problem associated with limited shelf space and make games potentially available for an indefinite amount of time. Why is it so surprising that copyright holders try to protect their content with any means available? Sure they don't really work, but they're not going to stop just because of that. EDIT: What, why would I expect revenue from pirates? Have you totally lost it? I was pointing out Mamoulian War's hypocrisy.
  7. We get it, you don't like DRM, it's getting old.
  8. DRM-free games like World of Goo and Braid get pirated as well. What's your point? So it's ok for people to pirate EA stuff, because they deserved it? Double standard much?
  9. Here's a revolutionary idea, Mamoulian War, if you don't want to support the DRM, don't buy the game. It's CnC 4, who cares?
  10. What does nationality have to do with it? It does both. I'm against DRM, but you seem like the greenpeace of anti-drm.
  11. Alien vs Predator?
  12. The scene where a strider blows up a whole house is amazing as well.
  13. I don't agree, but Bioshock came out 3 years later. Half-Life 2 pretty much made physics something more than eye candy in mainstream games. It did
  14. Apparently it's not for everyone. I personally love it, but there's no reason to go all bash-crazy if you don't. Surely you can still appreciate the good that came out of HL2, such as the Source engine, awesome facial animations and practical physics.
  15. Sure, the problem is with the severely antiquated copyright laws. I think that a DVD ripping software company got sued and just recently lost the case because ripping DVDs involved cracking the encryption.
  16. Probably.
  17. Circumventing any kind of software usually involves modifying it which is illegal in most places. So basically removing the DRM is illegal, just like copyright infringement.
  18. Only if it features a sassy and sarcastic female protagonist I can totally see that, by the way.
  19. A lot of people seem to think that. Where are you all getting that? The game is nowhere near ready, the engine is ready, but they have only shown the one hub place and some random combat and racing. I'd say 2010 fall at the earliest.
  20. Next up is Ravenholm, it's super sweet and you get to have lots of fun with your gravity gun.
  21. There's the Blood Dragon armor at the very end. It looks like Shepherd visited a gift shop in one of those Stargate renfare planets.
  22. What? At best Rage will come sometime in 2010.
  23. Yes, it's sad that people are jaded and cynical, but considering Obsodian's(and Black Isle's) history, it's hardly surprising. People have been burned time and time again with canceled and unfinished games. That said, there are very few forums where being overly optimistic and talking a big talk will get you very far. I'd rather keep up with Rogue Dao's Planescape Trilogy, because they actually have something to show for their ideas and there is a lot of potential there. Again, sorry, but it's just hard to get excited for just some ideas.
  24. I guess they thought that the meathead jock audience needed someone to identify with... I hope there will be an option to "sacrifice" him.
