Developers should stop making ~10 high quality enemy models and then reusing them over and over and over. This was very evident in Bioshock, for example. I can understand doing it for a zoomed out strategic RPG, but there's no excuse for it in an up close and personal game. It would make things so much more fun and realistic if the enemies were randomly compiled from a choice of heads, torsos etc. with slightly different coloring.

It's not even the 360's limitations, there are games that have more different models on screen. It's Bioware's crappy engine and/or their insistence to make really high res models. What's the point of having super high quality when you can only have three different kinds on the screen at the same time. Make some compromises, the PCs have to look great, the other models can look a bit crappier if you can have more variety.

Is the beta in Russian? The site that your blog links to is in Russian.

Why don't they simply use Wrex again? Also on some screenshots I've seen a quarian - is that another new follower instead of Tali? I think I heard that it was Tali, but I'm not sure. For some some reason, they wanted to use (mostly) new characters. I don't know who the marketing genius behind that idea was. I would love some new characters, but not just "another Krogan" and so on.

So you were stupid on purpose? How is that any better?

You don't have to make them graphically crazy. My point is that all the companions and 80% of the species are humanoid. Making a character likable and interesting is the writing peoples' job, if you have good enough writing you can make a good character that is just a stone block. What I'm saying is that they are playing it safe and lack imagination. I couldn't care less about their problems with 360 memory limitation, it has nothing to do with my point.

The Krogan in the background is supposedly named Grunt, yes Grunt and will also be a companion. I guess they might just as well give them functional names...

He made Black and White 1 as well. Now he's just Microsoft's crazy mouthpiece.

She actually makes an effort to sound like someone in command, not some wisecracking jackass.

So you want a geth eating Rachni? Sure! The cinematic style they're going for apparently calls for every character to have a human-ish face. The reason why most sci-fi movies have humanoid aliens was because you had to have human play them. How ironic that when we finally get past that limitation, they still cling to the tradition instead of innovating. Looks like the combat hast improved much. The dismemberment is nice, but I hate the slow cover based fighting.

Why is it so hard to do a non-humanoid character? They managed to get Dog into DA, why not some totally weird telepathic hive-mind swarm or an amorphous blob that loves eating the Geth? We have gone from awesome companion design like a miniature planet to Star Trek-style forehead-of-the-week aliens. Thanks for the info, Maria. I shall now dub this thread the Official Mass Effect 2 thread of freaky fish people. EDIT: Ugh, the Shepherd if the video is way to suave and cheesy. He's like John Crichton(from Farscape) mixed with James Bond. Femshep FTW!

It's Hungary, and this thread was already dead and buried.

They'll be connected to your Steam account and you'll have to download them, but you can redownload them as much as you want to as many computers as you want.

It does look kinda maleish now... What's up with adding new races, though? Are they some super secret race that lives on a secret planet where every man women and child is an assassin?

How is it worse? She (?) is an alien. I just don't like when they take human beauty canons and build alien/fantastic chracters around them. That's just my opinion, though. Are you sure you want to ask that? Why not go all the way and make a weird plant creature or something? A human lizard is no better than a human alien. Not sure at all. A fish person would be somewhat funnier, though.
-
She's ugly alright, but that's good. She is some sort of lizard, right? I don't think she deserves her own thread, though. How is her being an ugly lizard better than just being ugly? You can't even have sex with her if she's a lizard, right? I didn't find a ME2 thread, so this is the temporary official ME2 thread
-
So apparently Bioware unveiled a new character from ME2. Here's the article: Looks pretty ugly if you ask me: On a somewhat related note, do we have an official-ish ME2 thread?
-
Didn't think of that. I'd probably be zoomed out as well.

How is it going to pass the German super-censors or will it just be banned and imported from Austia?
-
How many of you would actually pay $80 for it? I certainly wouldn't.

I find the Kill Bill style BLOOD EVERYWHERE thing annoying. I have nothing against people dying realistically with dismemberment and whatnot, but ever single enemy spilling bathtubs of blood is just gratuitous blood for blood's sake and distracts me from the game. I really hope they don't have the "blood splatter on the screen" thing, that is even worse.
-
If you actually have a small and dedicated audience who primarily buys your games, it's a totally viable strategy. I was under the impression that they wanted this to be a somewhat mainstream indie game ala Mount & Blade. The best idea is probably a cheap download version and a more expensive boxed collector's edition with lots of goodies you have to order from them.(no retail)
-
At least there should be some kind of meter for the gore. (no blood - buckets of blood - MAXIMUM BLOOD)
-
That's how the market views value, it has nothing to do with the effort put into it. STALKER too like 10 years to make and was sold for $50, as was the crappy Transformers movie license game that the developers churned out in ~6 months. They can ask whatever they want for it, but that doesn't mean people are going to pay that. EDIT: Yay demos!
-
Think they got enough blood? It's like the Bloodrayne movie by Uwe Boll.
