  1. So where do I get the beta? Your support is lacking, mod team.
  2. It's not my card, it's my TV that doesn't have a digital input, since it's about 3 yrs old. So your monitor is connected with DVI?
  3. I actually just bought the Episode Pack (for less than $7) after seeing this thread. I planned on waiting until all 3 episode were released, but I figured I couldn't pass up the cheap goodness. My question is, now that I have HL2, Ep1 and Ep2, do the (minute) graphical enhancements of the Ep 1 and 2 affect OG HL2 at all? Would I have to have all three games on the same steam account (they aren't)? Nope, they are pretty much stand alone. The graphical updates come in naturally with each episode so you don't really feel like you miss out. HL2 still looks pretty nice, though.
  4. At the moment it is still a free mod. When they released their there were some rumors about Valve helping them out and possibly buying them out and releasing Black Mesa with the next *color* Box, if they are interested. I don't know if that's true or what happened with that.
  5. From what I remember Dark Sun is a post-apocalyptic desert-ish setting where some kind of magical catastrophe destroyed the world. There's almost no magic, no gods, but lots of psionic stuff. They need to make a Spelljammer RPG.
  6. That's like saying you don't like ice cream. How do you know you don't like it, if you haven't played it?
  7. Probably, we all are. The difference is that the book is usable as it is. With a disc you have to put it into a computer to use. With newer DRM you also have to check with the cloud(server) before using it. The disc contains the same digital info that you download from Steam for example, but it's useless without a computer.
  8. You don't have to actively wait, the waiting just kind of happens.
  9. Have you ever compaired digital and analog 720p picture? Because if you have, I'm afraid there is something wrong with your eyes.. May be something's wrong with your TV. I've compared VGA and DVI on my old monitor, and didn't notice any difference. It makes a difference on an LCD monitor. VGA makes the picture look a little blurry, at least from my experience. What video card do you have, anyway? Even my backup Geforce 7300GS has a DVI output.
  10. Keyword there: wait. Haha that's all people's been doing and will continue to do so for who knows how long. If it doesn't come out, there won't be a decent HL remake, it's that simple.
  11. You mean the dreadful elevator rides, right?
  12. Maybe I'm just spoiled. My point was that you can connect the TV to the PC and (most likely) us the gamepad. It's not an ideal solution, but it does offer the best of both worlds FWIW.
  13. Same, although can't say Drakensang was a game worth playing with or without a manual. Sure, I just didn't understand jack at first. Damn new age damage values and whatnot.
  14. I thought everyone was using at least DVI. VGA is analog and looks pretty horrible, to be honest.
  15. You are aware that you can use the TV as a secondary monitor and use the 360 gamepad with the PC, right? I'm not sure if DAOPC will support the game pad, if it's not designed for it it's a pain in the ass. It might be viable if you don't have to use the KB&M at all, I'd just have to get a really long VGA cable that everyone will stumble over, so probably won't bother. All Games For Windows branded games have to work with the gamepad, at least when they are also on 360. It's part of the GFW requirements. VGA cable? Don't you have a HDTV? If it's not HD, the monitor will have a way higher resolution.
  16. You are aware that you can use the TV as a secondary monitor and use the 360 gamepad with the PC, right?
  17. And I care about the game and not the packaging. It mostly comes down to convenience. Nothing against collecting, though.
  18. Right. At least the PC version isn't an exact port.
  19. These days it's pretty much Steam or bust for me.
  20. Loading all the conversations in an area is a side effect of having to have the game play directly off the disc. A horribly inefficient and ridiculous method in this day and age. Once again all platforms suffer because of the lowest common denominator.
  21. well, a manual for starters. Most mainstream games assume gamers can't read and don't even bother with a manual. If I'm going to get AoD, I'll get the downloadable version. Drakensang was the last game I remember that actually needed a manual.
  22. Salvation. Will it round up all the old wRPGs and lead them to the promised land?
  23. Everyone keeps saying that AoD offers this and that. What exactly does it offer that's different from mainstream games? Really long descriptions and lots of dialog and a somewhat hardcore combat system, is that all?
  24. Steam takes care of everything on the software side and you can buy prebuilt gaming-grade PCs from most computer stores or from online. Developers making buggy games is their own incompetence. Everyone loves the comfy couch, though.
