  1. It's mostly about the story(of GLaDOS) with some nice quirky humor thrown in, the puzzles are more of a backdrop. Also, it's one of the few games I instantly replayed just to hear the commentary mode, it's worth it.
  2. I don't see what so deep about April Ryan, at least in the first game. She's a well developed and thought out typical teenage girl. Yes its, much better than most principal characters in adventure games but its hardly spectacular. As for the second game, I couldn't bring myself to play that rubbish and gave up after two attempts. It's not that she was super-deep, she was very well fleshed out and believable, also she managed to remain likable while being pretty cynical and pessimistic. I guess some of that was thanks to the voice actress.
  3. I was just under the impression that it was like a community project or something. So it's like Mount and Blade in it's indie-ness?
  4. It is not out yet. Just check http://www.irontowerstudio.com/ for the latest info. Wait, it's going to cost money?
  5. He always seemed like a pretty standard grumpy old dude to me The gray thing was probably to make him darker and edgier
  6. That depends, do you consider characters bumping into each other during co-op romantic? They do have a portable turret and a gazillion guns, though...
  7. Boo started it. A mod could prune the thread or something.
  8. Speaking of the old BIS and Interplay boards, what's Sammael up to? Who else should I remember from there?
  9. He could use a pimp hat
  10. Nothing is beyond criticism, Boo. If something is good enough, it can stand the scrutiny. By bringing out both the good and bad in something you can get a better understanding of it, just look at all the literary criticism. I totally agree with you on April Ryan, Virumor.
  11. I made a thread about it already, but Freedom Force (And Freedom Force vs The Third Reich). It's basically a superhero RPG, but I really love the way you interact with the environment throwing cars/billboards/picnic tables, whacking people with lamp posts and using buildings for cover. The story is keeping it true to the early superhero comics complete with an awesome narrator.
  12. The boxart:
  13. Ah, back in the day when stuff was hard enough that every bit of cheese helped. Who didn't try to kill the Lich with the Staff of the Magi on their first visit to Amn in BG2? With the new AI scripts it's damn near impossible, though...
  14. I can see your point, but I'd say the difference is that she could have been anything, so she's a more open ended character than the candle lady for example. The way she was written in the game was shallow, but her character doesn't necessarily have to be.
  15. Check out the ending on youtube, it's pretty sweet.
  16. Sorry, I'm running out of obscure Windows games. I'll dig through some DOS games later. A lot of people probably don't know them, or at least haven't played them. If you keep mentioning something then people might recognize it somewhere and play it then.
  17. Deionarra was voiced by Jennifer Hale, who did the Female Shepard in Mass Effect. She's pretty good.
  18. Who's doing Leliana's voice?
  19. I don't know about you, but I like more women that scare me than bore me You can be intimidating without looking like a scary soulless husk. Those eyes are Bethesda-worthy Maybe she is just trying somethin new. Has she been acting after farscape and pitch black anyway? She was also in Stargate for the last two seasons.
  20. I'm just starting Farscape season 4, every time I hear Morrigan speak I think of Aeryn. Can't Claudia Black get real acting roles anymore?
  21. What's the deal with Morrigan? She looks like a soulless husk with those horrible eyes: Do not want!
  22. I remember Z, the one Boo posted, actually. War Wind II reminds me of Blood and Magic which was an RTS with some rpg elements based somewhat on DnD:
  23. The trick was to be a good enough strategy dude to use the stuff you chose to its fullest. You only have the intel they give you and if crap hits the fan you have to deal with it, that's one of the reasons it's so great. Also, the customization is crazy, you get to choose two special abilities for everyone out of like four for every unit AND you have to choose a balance between firepower, armor, speed and view distance in addition to choosing which units(who gain experience BTW) to bring in the first place. It's like the Hearts of Iron of RTSes.
  24. Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive - A Commandos-style strategy game, that pretty much improves every aspect of it. Each of the characters is unique, the story is actually pretty interesting and you can set up complex actions and execute them quickly with a single key press. Ground Control - An RTS that ditched base-building and unit-massing back in 2000 and focused on small fully customizable squads. The missions are hard as hell, requiring some real thought and utilizing your units and the terrain to the fullest.(It's avalable on Good Old Games)
  25. Try a random hentai game. That would be like Myst, but with easier puzzles and more minigames
