  1. I wouldn't know
  2. When the horde is near you, you fire off a shot or two, and run back. It's what I've done in every single Resident Evil game. You do have control over your character. There's no reason for you to stand completely still and just let the horde swamp you, unless you've ended up backing yourself into a corner. Because slowly walking backwards while shooting is a totally foreign and unheard of tactic, known only by few masters in the Tibet. Shooting, running a few meters back and shooting again makes a lot more sense...
  3. So you are more qualified? I'm just stating my opinion based on my knowledge past acquisitions and reading articles etc.
  4. It's Orbital Drop Shock Troopers IIRC.
  5. Your argument might hold some water if anything in RE5 or in any of the RE games was anywhere close to reality. I'm sure they just slipped that little bit of reality in there to balance all the other crazy stuff. If you just had awful aim when shooting while moving, there wouldn't be a problem. Who the hell stands still when a hoard of zombies is slowly coming at them? I'm not asking for Quake here, just some control over my character, please.
  6. EA isn't Microsoft and Bioware was WAY overpriced. I'm just not seeing it.
  7. Well, you could say that they are both arbitrary limitations in controlling your character to artificially increase the difficulty/scary factor.
  8. I was kidding Apple makes awesome hardware, but their total control over the platform is pretty annoying. Microsoft screws stuff up over and over.
  9. They should totally buy Apple and have Steve Jobs delivered to Redmond, in chains.
  10. No one in their right mind would pay anywhere near $4 billion for EA
  11. Adblock + not living in the US = win
  12. Like cranial intrusion can be entertaining?
  13. But SEGA would still be publishing all the games...
  14. Not from an objective point of view. Marvel has a ton of super popular licenses for characters in comics, movies, games, toys, etc. EA makes video games.
  15. Then ALL the plots and characters in every game would be the same, sweet! Bioware was sold, their fate is pretty much out of their hands now. I don't really think anyone would really want to mess with them though, as long as they keep making well-selling games, no one with any brains will go and change stuff around.
  16. Woo, more 360-only games!
  17. Well, since you make it sound so inviting...
  18. This is nonsense. It's got nothing to to do with which games do it "right" because there is no "right". A game not allowing the player character to move when shooting has nothing to do with the control system used. Like alanschu mentioned, it's a deliberate game mechanic. You might not like it, which is totally fine, but please don't try to attack it for something it's not, and don't confuse your preference for one way of doing things as proof another is bad or outdated design. This is true. It's fairly typical for horror games to feature a player character far weaker or more vulnerable than shooters that allow the player to absorb a huge amount of damage. This is also true military shooters and sims where one shot kills are more common. Wanting these types of games to use the same mechanics as other types of games is missing the point. Sorry, I didn't intend to state my opinion as the absolute truth. That said, I feel that it is an anachronism that has no place in today's games. The only reason why it's there is to either stay true to the earlier games or to artificially increase the difficulty(it's like the developers gave up on making the atmosphere/enemies scarier and just screwed with the mechanics). Neither of which is a justifiable reason for having such an outdated game mechanic(how many other games do that? Even Dead Space let you walk around and shoot), in my opinion. There's a difference between making the player weaker(less health) and gimping the controls so that you can't make your character do what you want. Not to mention all the other stupid stuff they had to do to make it work(making the enemies stop in front of you before attacking).

That might very well be, I'm not really good at judging acting talent. He will have a cameo/guest star role anyway.

I don't remember him being especially bad. He is very popular with the ladies, though, and will probably bring in a bunch more viewers. @Terminatrix: It's not for everyone, don't sweat it.
  21. This Bob sounds like a fine chap. Where can I behold his masterpieces?
  22. It's from 2003...
  23. You seem a bit agitated, try not to take the internet too seriously I'm pretty sure I didn't say that it was realistic, I was mocking your previous post. It's a holdover from earlier console action/adventure games where you had two different systems/control schemes for walking around and aiming the gun. Also it was used a "mechanic" to increase the "horror" factor. Nothing's as scary as zombies killing you because of bad controls. Sorry to hurt your brain, but unfortunately it's in your head and thus out of my hands.
  24. Whee, some else has heard of I-War! I didn't remember it having awesome music, though. I guess I learn something new every day
