Mass Effect!
The Deus Ex main theme was almost as annoying as the BG2 main theme. Makes me want to hit things.

Money/Power vs. Appearance - Which is really the most shallow?
So marrying for money/power and appearance is like eating ice cream with motor oil? Got it.

If this was Shadowrun you could get the sleep regulator and be just fine with 4h of sleep every day. Other than that, work less

Deus Ex was more than most games can ever hope to be. That should be enough.

I didn't like Psycho. My grandmother showed it to me when I was 8. Was she a psycho?

Ah, I see, the good ol' (-1)+1=0 scheme. Works every time. In your face Kaftan!

You mean Alema Rar? Jaina's wingmate? I really have only read VP, Dark Tide 1/2 and Star by Star which POd me because (read at your own risk) I thought you were reading the Legacy of the Force. Yes, that Alema. The Dark Nest trilogy comes after the Unifying Force and does all sorts of weird stuff. It's a good thing that he died, he was like the king of whine, even compared to Jaina later.

That's true.

Yeah, lots of stuff doesn't work too well in 3.5e, but it was much much worse in 2e. I understand that you have a connection with it, a lot of good things came out of it, Planescape for example, but it was seriously flawed.

It's a mechanic in place to ensure that your players don't just create stuff, sell it and become rich. It doesn't make any sense and you can house rule it away if you want to. How did the item creation work in 2e?

Since we are still using consoles from ~2005 the tech is pretty much stagnant. Even the cheapest graphics cards can run most cross-platform games reasonably well, unless it's a really bad port. You don't need a "monster rig" anymore to play most games. Also, the Crysis boat sailed a while ago, most modern PCs can play it without problems now. If you really want to use the extra power for something, you could render/encode stuff or just run Folding@Home.

Could you please expand on the bolded part? Are you saying that removing class restrictions was somehow bad? It quite literally limits the roleplaying options for the players. Newer games have more bugs because they have orders of magnitude more code and the development cycles are tighter these days. This has nothing to do with the rules system they are using, most of the bulk comes from graphics, AI, animations, etc. More code = more potential bugs.

Let's not go crazy with the costs here, you can run CoD4 @ 1080p/60fps with a $500 PC these days.

Use cables and a wireless controller? I can see there not really being any good pc-only games, but just for fun, here's a (overly intricate) list of PC games released or coming in 2009(with pictures).

I think I already hated on it before as well. Oh well. Patrick Rothfus' "The Name Of The Wind" is supposedly good. I might eventually read it.

The rules are relevant and very much a part of the game and does effect quality, your logic is flawed. How much time was/is spent in making sure the rules are implemented correctly? Could those resources be used elsewhere? I believe they could be used in character/story/NPC/World development. I have played this game in one form or other since the 70's. Core 2nd edition was pretty tight, only rules I allowed in my 6 year campaign, nice system, but with all the handbooks and other supplements did what you described, that's why I never allowed them. Do you have any information on how much time was spent implementing the rules for 2e games and 3.5e games? Why would implementing one be inherently more difficult than the other? There was plenty of stupid outdated stuff in the core rules as well, things like different classes advancing at different speeds(poor druids), some class-race combinations being banned for no good reason. THAC0, which was a needlessly complicated mechanic and fell apart at higher levels and the saving throw system that made little to no sense. Sure it worked and you could have fun with it, but my point is that 3.5e was a big step forward.

I thought you had read all of them. It's not really that good, though. Jacen is a bit of a bitch and Jaina is super whiny. EDIT: And what was the deal with the Dark Nest trilogy? The writers were smoking some serious crack when they wrote that. The only good thing to come out of that was Alema.

I still don't understand why people use this as an argument. There's nothing stopping you from using the TV as your monitor and using the 360 wireless controller if you can't use KB/M on the couch/whatever you sit on.

One good-ish book does not redeem 18 other horrible books. There were some OK space battles at least. It still boggles my mind that they managed to kill off Mara Jade, but damn Luke Skywalker is STILL alive.

That's the one I meant. Trackmania is better than all those anyway, though.
