Finished Call of Duty, Call of Duty United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Interestingly steam report played time for each 7 hours, except for CoD2, that took longest...9 hours. Probably because I wasted a lot of time for one stupid encounter (vehicle, plenty of smoke, terribly unaccurate weapon and missile insta kill). Now moving to Call of Duty World at War. Because Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops are so popular, it'll probably be last CoD game for while... maybe in 2 years those games be in steam holiday sales, under 15

I can't think of any game that didn't deserve their low score. Usually game reviewers give too high scores, not too low. For example Alpha Protocol is solid six or seven out of ten game and this time reviewers in general got it right.

I've been playing the Call of Duty series (CoD, CoD:UO CoD2, CoD4) lately and it's been perplexing for the ye olde skool FPS player like myself. It's really hard to get used to constant sensory overload, myriad scripted events, infinite respawning of the enemies unless you reach certain trigger (time or place in the map) and non-existant storyline (maps could be complitely individual levels, as I have no idea what character I'm playing at the moment). But damn, series have some fine shooting mechanics. Especially CoD2 and CoD4. Ironsights in CoD4 are the best I've seen so far in games. That said, Bioware (and Obsidian.. heck, just about every developer outside those who have high expertise in developing FPS) should just rip off CoD4 shooting mechanics. Provent to be popular, they work and even Activison can't copyright game mechanics. Oh yeah... jumping, crouch and prone stances are great too. Unlike most of the others in this board or other gaming boards, I don't have any issues with the RPG elements (or lack of) in Mass Effect series but I'd sure like to see FPS behave like the best FPS from combat and movement point of view.

I like the , it's damn epic !!! And let us never forget - !

Not gonna tolerate Gamebryo engine anymore. Fallout New Vegas is great game but damn, Gamebryo is trying it's hardest to kill the fun.

Bah, no gameplay in VGAs. Just boring CGI trailer for Mass Effect 3.

Erm... You know, I try to keep positive attitude and most definately will buy the game, but damn that's a cliche! I'm sure my racist human character will have jolly good time find allies, after pissing off all council races, hanaar, elcor, batarians, quarians, rachni.. well, at least there's still Krogan who probably don't care that I've executed several of 'em, Volus will follow the money and Vorcha who are probably too stupid to connect the dots.

Whole crew in this picture? That picture reminds me of small raid party and everyone wear clownsuit armor (in World of Warcraft). Clownsuit armor happend when everyone just went for the best stats in gear and obviously just about every piece of armor was from different set. Character model design are still horrible so I guess those are probably complite sets and designers are just blind or play some kind of cruel joke on everyone.

Unfortunately that ain't viable design choice nowadays. We're in the era where computer games are more interactive movies (see Call of Duty Black Ops) then games designed to give you some challenge. In NWN2 you could lose one powerful mage in the final battle, but you'd still have one left. Actually you could lose several members but that didn't make too big of a difference in the actual encounter. In Mass Effect 2 you can lose all your members (and even get main character killed), but only in final battle. In Fallout New Vegas all your companions can die, but then again, they are not really needed (but it's fun to see characters like Whiskey Rose getting dusted in the middle of the game, props for Obsidian for designing that quest). Yes, I love choices and consequences.. especially making extremely bad choices and then figuring out how to make my character to survive despite that. No wonder Chaotic Stupid

Given how much twenty-something gamers watch hentai and manga howadays, it's small wonder if they buy game at all if those romance "features" are not in the game.

Kind of noticed the same thing in The Witcher. Maybe it's a RPG-Dev thing? Could be or developers just use different parts of europe influence. Celtic, fennoscandian, baltic, northen slavic... plenty of redheads in here.

Pirates, and I mean those who just pirate games out of habit, are probably the most critical gamers. Even most of the "free" games are not worth their time. Personally I don't understand why most people bother to pirate anything anymore. Servies like Spotify will give you good selection of music (unless you really want to hear that ultra rare b-side from some obscure band... I know I can't find Ural B Diktators - Uralin Pihlaja from anywhere). Steam conversion rate from $ to

I guess thanksgiving sales started for this year. For example today: Alpha Protocol

With resources of the EA and Bioware, they should be able to do better graphics then they do now. Xbox360 is 5 years old now and thus there have been plenty of time to develop near optimal game engines like Anvil engine (used for Assassins Creed series), rockstars RAGE engine (GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption) or upcoming IdTech 5. EA obviously wanted sequel with relatively fast schedule so complitely new graphics engine proabably wouldn't work. Personally I think we just have to suffer thru bad graphics in Dragon Age games (at least 2 and 3 ) untill next console generation (who knowns when that happen, possibly 2014-2015).

Tolkien took inspiration from many sources and all scandiavian or fennoscanian myths have similarities. For example V

Real number is probably much higher then reported 2,3 million units (link give incorrect 23 million figure). Blizzard games, including Starcraft 2, are popular in countires where 1 full priced game cost about month worth of wages. They don't torrent it, more likely buy it from fraction of the price from local bootleg vendor.
-
We also have to remember that mages in Tolkien texts are more like demigods then common cannonfodder. Why would they need armor? And they wear robes (like people have already said) because they strongly influenced by ancent druids and mystics. No idea why they wore robes, comfort maybe? After the firearms became more popular in the real life and kinetic energy of the tiny lead ball was more then enough to pierce even the strongest armor, we got really silly uniforms. My personal hatered is reserved for the Croatian mercenaries around the time of the thirty years war. Yes, those guys are the reason why we still wear noose around our necks. Croat -> Cravat -> Kravaatti (fin).

Sorry. There's a difference between being the Thor or the Silver Surfer and being Captain America or Daredevil Yeah. I remember those "offical handbook of the Marvel Universe" tomes from the mid 80's (I think I have 'em somewhere in my attic). DeusEx characters are superheroes, but definately more like Daredevil then Silver Surfer (so probably no jumping to alternate realities, flying, faster then lightspeed movement or other such cosmic features )
-
Heh... I suggest you stay FAR away from DeusEx series then. In DeusEx you'

I have to disagree with this. History is interesting because it allow us to know more about the present. What events lead to this point. Often it's more interesting then "what happend after".

New IP huh? I would have guess Mass Effect 3 but maybe EA tries some different angle to get some of that sweet Call of Duty (semi)-interactive movie money because Medal of Honour didn't do well enough.
-
Not only cutscenes. You don't actually have to play the game. We have finally knocked down the last barrier for the casual gamers. Relax and enjoy your (semi)-interactive movie. Cuba mission done on 2nd hardest difficulty, without shooting anyone (that ain't required by the interactive cutscenes).

Planescape Torment - Ending where Nameless One accepts his fate and prepares to fight eternity in the Bloodwar. Ironically because of game rule changes, the war ended just few years later. Bloodlines - Some poor choices with allies and you end up thrown into the bottom of the sea. Enjoy the hunger! Dragon Age - Full utilitarian run ending with ultimate sacrifice. Tied up things nicely. Deus Ex - Destroying the whole modern tech based society.
-
I agree. Few well designed encounters with all named mobs would be much better option then hordes of cannonfodder.

I noticed that latest patch 1.1.1 only increased my crashes. Previously I crashed about once a hour but now it's more like every 20 mins.
