  1. For me the proof is in the pudding. Lets see how they do with fixing BG:EE and then I can make an assessment of whether they are will be able to handle BG2:EE
  2. To be fair, it may be that he isn't expressing boredom with crpg's in general but instead, with the crpg's themselves. True PE is inspired by these games, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to copy them exactly it's still a new IP. To use your cheese example, if he went to a cheese festival and said, "Why do we keep eating Gouda and Cheddar over and over again I want to eat a new kind of cheese", I don't think it would be so bad. If everyone here just wanted to play the same three or four games over and over again, we could, they're still there. I hear you, good point. I suppose the argument is that the CRPG model follows certain tenets that aren't fundamentally going to change, but you never know. Also don't you think he is bored with CRPG because he has played them before so any new CRPG will have a new plot and characters so it will automatically be something exciting?
  3. Grow up man, someone can enjoy a multitude of game genres. It's a lot easier to stereotype though isn't it? Come back when your ready for an adult discussion. I never said a single thing about changing this game. Yeah someone can, but it seems you burned out on this genre. You never said a single thing about changing the game, and yet you go on about how burned out you are on everything PE is striving to be? I'm not too worried about Obsidian making design decisions to account for you fatigued lot, which may in turn make it worse for me; I'm more worried about seeing people talk about how PE didn't live up to expectations, potentially ****ting on Obsidian, when such opinions may be coming from individuals in your state. I tend to agree with this sentiment, the reality is almost everyone on these forums believes in the vision of Obsidian for PE. Its an old-school and CRPG. We can't and won't convince people that don't want this type of game why its a good development decision. No offense jivex5k but what reaction were you expecting when you make a post that basically states you are bored with the concept of CRPG. PE is going to be like all those CRPG you mentioned. Its like going to Cheese Festival and saying to visitors there " I don't like cheese anymore, I feel cheese doesn't stimulate my palate". People will say " WTF are you doing here then" Sorry to sound harsh, I'm just being honest
  4. Different perspective on the Scandinavian countries, thanks for commenting. You are obviously Danish. But your post still shows just how successful your economic system is compared to my country and many others. You talk about your underclass as "not starving and still having medical care". We have at least 5 % of people, thats about 5 million born into abject poverty who don't know where there meals are going to come from and have no medical aid. I guess end of the day I believe that the Scandinavian economic model really seems to address most social issues, yes its not perfect but the good seems to outweigh the bad.
  5. You funny I love Xmas and particularly people that really enjoy Xmas. My friends wife actually makes her own Xmas cards and sends them out.
  6. I like the thought of adventures at the sea, good idea
  7. This is why I'm not a big fan of the term lazy (a term I've seen applied to the Beamdog guys too) because there's issues or things aren't the way someone wants. I know Nathan on the team and I know they've been working their asses off, even if it seems they just went and ****ed it all up for no reason according to some. I agree there is no doubt they are working as hard as they can to resolve issues. They also tested as much as they could through Q&A. I suppose some would argue " they never tested enough" . But what is enough?
  8. Holy Smoke Enoch, your parents are really in the wars lately. Sorry to hear.
  9. I also tend to agree with this sentiment. Why link it with the Torment IP if you can't have any association to it? As much as I wish I'd say something that smart occasionally, I think you're misquoting me there Noooooooooo, I want everyone to see how clever you are Its my fault, I deleted the wrong quotes and was too lazy to fix it. But my point is I agree with the above statements

  11. I don't agree that Israel doesn't have strong home grown industries. They are renowned for developing security and cryptology technologies and software. They also have a strong agriculture sector, in fact some of there processes have been exported to African countries to help with there farming. Edit: I misunderstood your post, you are saying that Israel does have strong internal industries
  12. Don't worry I know the context you meant when you used the word extreme. That photo is probably apt, its looks like its a picture from the First World War and shows the utter devastation from battle in no-mans land which was the disputed territory between the Germans and the English\French trench lines. I am sure that is how he is feeling Those forums have some cute cat pictures, I like the "cat playing BG:EE"
  13. I know you were looking forward to playing BG:EE, so I am sorry you were disappointed. But you should be more like me, I never play any game until the first patch is released. That way I am generally happy with the stability of my games. I am not trying to make you feel worse, its just something to consider for next time? " Extreme Fan" , I like it I'll get your input on BG:EE around Mods and relevant changes I need to make for the most stable gaming experience when I purchase this game. But I am going to wait till the first official patch gets released.
  14. Personally I am glad you are defending the game as I want to purchase it, I never played BG1, and its good to see some positive feedback that is factual. But you never answered my question. You seem to know loads about the game, are you a committed fan or some sort of developer?
  15. Hi AGX I like you and I appreciate your input on various topics so please don't take offense at what I am about to say below. I find people that criticize grammar and spelling on a gaming forum annoying, supercilious and there critique irrelevant. The main reasons for this are Are all your posts grammatically perfect every time you say something? They need to be if you are going to point out mistakes in others I always ask "can I understand what someone is saying in the post". This is surly the most important point in any post. This is not an English exam and we shouldn't be judged on grammar. Finally English isn't everyones first language so to be critical on someones grammar and spelling is just petulant and unhelpful to the purpose of what a forum is, that purpose being discussion. I think it's important that if you want to make a good impression in the English speaking world, it's important to get grammar, syntax and punctuation correctly. If you were applying for a job with an American or English company it could make a real difference! I value your contributions to the forums so I want to help you be the best you can be at the (current) global tongue. Until Mandarin takes over. In which case I will rely on my half-chinese cousins to do all my talking for me. Also, movies! Rewatched The City of Lost Children. Not exactly labyrinth, but I was in love with Miette when I saw it as a child (we're the same age, the actress and I, don't get any funny ideas.) Still a great movie. Thanks AGX, I didn't realize you cared about my career. It would be great to work for an American company. But what would I do about my current job as I work for a global American company?
  16. Nice, its always a feeling of immense achievement when hard work and long hours pays off for tenders or business prospects. Congrats
  17. Boots of Speed does make it more than tolerable, generally...but that doesn't really help unless you're playing solo, because you'll have to wait for everyone else to catch up to the character with the Boots of Speed regardless. Always made Boots of Speed worthless in my estimation. Especially considering it doesn't add the full haste effect, (the bonus attack per round), but just increases movement speed. Bart you seem to know loads about the BG series, is that because you are a committed fan or some kind of developer. I hope you don't me asking its just that I am finding your insight into the game interesting.
  18. Nope I used my spellcheck, so I assumed its all right
  19. Nice post, you make some sobering and thought provoking points. But I have to honest, I still have fun with almost every game I play. Thats not to say I don't miss the likes of BG2. Thats why I am supporting initiatives like PE. But I don't think the new genre of games are worthless.
  20. You'll have to forgive me, for I was wrong...but then again, so were you. :D I had forgotten how *truly* slow BG1 walkspeeds were. But, similarly, you forgot how fast BG2 walkspeeds were. Time Test: (From Candlekeep Inn door to the steps up to the Temple of Oghma at 30FPS for each game; from the click to the moment the character gets there, as well as making sure the character doesn't bump into any patrolling guards) BG1: 31-32 seconds BG2: 20-21 seconds BG:EE: 25-26 seconds Looks like they went smack in between the two speeds. I recorded the results via Fraps, but don't have the inclination to upload the videos right now. Maybe in a little bit. Still wish they would've just systemically upped the speeds of everything. If creatures went at speed 5, they should've went at 10. If they went at speed 4, they should've went at 8 or 9, (probably 9, to maintain balance for slower creatures). Et cetera. But that's just me. I feel as though BG2 walkspeeds are still too slow at default FPS - at 40-45, it's the best, IMO. I have no patience for walking around. Are you sure its not fast because your characters aren't wearing Boots of Speed? Thats probably the reason....
  21. Hi Nep Are you saying since Wednesday you have only slept 5 hours !!! It sounds like a good party, what have you been doing if I may ask Nah, 2, 4, 5, 5, 3 hours, so a total of 19 since wednesday. Hardly the stuff of legends, but enough for a pretty cool raccoon look. First, office xmas party (on the day I heard the grade thing), since then, polishing my reply to the faculty, either awake or in my sleep. Sent it today, so hopefully will get some sleep tonight. Have thu (independence day) and fri off, so otherwise ok. Hi Nep Are you saying since Wednesday you have only slept 5 hours !!! 22. I also agree that the GB reviews are generally balanced, helpful and objective.
