  1. The conflict in Syria was started because Assad chose to use the might of his army and police to quell the initial political dissension to his dictatorial rule, he refused to make any serious changes to give his citizens more rights and political freedom. The background to this civil war is almost identical to Libya. This conflict would have been over ages ago if Russia and China hadn't vetoed any military actions through the UN security council. I blame Russia more for this as they can influence China so the blood of the thousands of people killed is on there hands, not that Russia cares. Now the war has become complicated. There are several Islamic fundamentalist groups that are now involved in fighting for the Free Syrian Army. These groups have links to Al-Qaeda so it makes it hard for the West to supply weapons to them. I believe that Assad will be defeated in the next 6 months but at what cost? Thousands of people killed and the iinfrastructure of Syrian destroyed. This could very likely have been prevented if Russia hadn't vetoed military action, there wouldn't have been boots on the ground in Syria but the contributing Western countries could have stopped Assad using his air force by controlling the air. A similar military sstrategy that was used in Libya could have been adopted. "Well done Russia", for achieving a political stalemate at the UN and helping the drag the conflict on.
  2. That was an informative interview around the background to this project, nice one. I am very excited about this game. Many of the key people who were involved in PS:T are involved in this game so I am confidant it will be successful. Fargo also does explain that even though it won't be set in the actual Planescape universe it will share the metaphysical concepts and narrative idea's so I have no issue with them using the name Torment. I'll be supporting them on KS as I don't see any abuse of the name for funding purposes For me this is really exciting as I will be playing Planescape for the first time this weekend
  3. Wow, I hope Witcher 3 will be open-world, but its not a huge deal if its the normal linear chapter based game I love. Sorry, I guess people are use to sarcasm I think thats what he thought you were being
  4. http://youtu.be/K3JikfDJx2M That was hilarious
  5. OMG, I don't think I have ever seen a more embarrassing display in an interview than what Alex Jones demonstrated. Who is he? And I can't believe that people that want to own firearms actually would want to be associated with him. His petulant insults about Piers Morgan running away from the UK, wanting to have boxing match with him and then imitating how he speaks made me cringe. Yes calling him a raving lunatic is fitting and apt.
  6. Remind me why the South African Constitution is rubbish? You need to be careful when you make blanket insults against a country that is based on your ignorance, it undermines your point and you come across as some kind of uninformed and emotional fanatic. I am sure that everyone thinks there countries Constitution is superior to others, but in the South African example I really do. The South African Constitution was crafted at a time of profound uncertainty in the world. Communism and Apartheid were ending and the old government of South Africa really didn't know what would happen when the ANC, the previous enemy, came to power. They had to protect businesses, human rights and current institutions. They created the Constitution and did an excellent job. Some of the points that make it superior to many other Constitutions in my opinion are We recognize that everyone has a right to human dignity and equal rights under the law irrespective of your race, religion or sexual orientation. So for example this means that Gay people have all the rights of straight people including marriage. We believe in free speech but not if it infringes on a persons dignity. So there are certain derogatory words you cannot call people. We know in South Africa that words can and do effect people Another annoying point you made is comparing the South African Constitution to the one that the USSR used, thats an egregious analogy. At least use a Constitution of another Western, Capitalist Democracy. Because thats what South Africa is. Its not some Communist country .
  7. the concept of your post really made me laugh
  8. I agree memorable characters make a huge difference, as mentioned by others for me having interesting party members is one of the reasons I make certain choices in the game. I enjoy there feedback and I consider what impact a choice I make may have around my relationship with them. It would be interesting to see a situation where a party feels betrayed by you and then leaves the party only to have to face him later in combat.
  9. I'm waiting for a sale on the Zodiac Tournament DLC, hopefully it happens during the Spring Sale. I'm basically looking for any excuse to jump back into Sleeping Dogs. Hi Keyrock Zodiac is only $5, I did buy it. It adds about 3 hours of extra gaming. By the way I loved SD, and I only played it because of your endorsement so thanks for the tip Oh and the Controller makes a huge difference.
  10. " burning marijuana fields " !!! Is nothing sacrosanct in gaming anymore ?
  11. Err, I do understand how the system worked, and none of the dialogue options both in language or intent were particularly difficult to understand. That is, after picking one; the short descriptions on the wheel were not particularly enlightening, hence the guessing game. Now, I'm not a native English speaker but I understand the language just fine. I just didn't like the dialogue system. The options are too restrictive, trying too hard to entertain and losing sight of the goal which in an RPG is building your own story and character. They turned my character into their character by yanking away control both in customization and dialogue, and turned it into one I would never choose to play at that. Okay I understand what you meant now when you say you didn't like the dialogue
  12. Wow, thats a serious indictment of DA2, the way you explain it I can understand why you didn't enjoy it. But are you sure you understood what the various dialogue options meant, maybe thats why you didn't understand how the system worked?
  13. I never bought that DLC, but Zodiac is about 3-4 hours of extra gameplay. Whats cool about it is you fight enemies who use new martial arts. Like a kick boxing style and you can learn new styles of fighting. But to be honest those are a little wasted once you finish the main story as when would you use them as the DLC are very quick to finish
  14. I don't believe that for a second. They're just using the most vague marketing terms and boasting about performance without backing it up. CNET are reporting that the 7A comes with an AMD R-Series APU with Radeon HD 7660G which struggles to run Arkham City and Metro 2033 at low resolution, let alone Battlefield 3, Skyrim, or Crysis 2, considering this isn't even out yet, it doesn't really have a chance at games released after it's available. The 5A as a desktop solution for general use is great, although it's slow and expensive enough that a Chromebook or Chromebox is going to be more appealing for just web use, and a laptop is going to be the better deal, even with a SSD added to it (I'm hoping manufacturers just switch). This is my concern, the Video card and its capability
  15. I bought the the Zodiac Tournament DLC, you should get it if you enjoyed SD. Its lets you fight new enemies in a Blood Sport style theme
  16. I second Aljazeera as a good news agency, although they do have blind spots. It really is, it as objective as CNN or Sky and I believe those provide good news coverage. In fact sometimes it has access to people and places that our normal Western news networks don't have so you can even see more insightful reporting. I watch it in South Africa and when I travel to the Middle East. There are a few versions but obviously I only watch the English\Western one.
  17. Is there anyone that woman hasn't slept with? She was a beautiful little pirate wasn't she
  18. Just make sure you make a high intelligence, wisdom and charisma character, they affect a lot on dialogue and that's all the game is about. Trust me, you get much more out from the game like that. I wish I could play it again for the first time too, you lucky bugger Thanks for the tip, I was going to ask for some non-spoiler advice as I want to play the game and get the maximum value
  19. Some people have synonymised the dialogue wheel with the decline of Bioware they have percieved. They should be glad for it, the shortened responses (in the vein of "I want to be a dragon") it displays have provided them with endless ammunition for their trolling. Personally, I don't mind it, they've gotten a lot better with from its first implementation in Mass Effect 1. But then again, my French teacher described me as a classic intellectual subtype who's able to enjoy "stupid" pursuits because he had enough intellicredentials without positing an endless interest in everything "deep". Not sure how accurate he is, but he's always struck me as a pretty astute guy. The main reason people didn't enjoy DA2 is approaching it with a negative mindset. Everybody I've seen approach it with an open mind found it fairly enjoyable in spite of its faults. I agree with almost everything you have said, when I played DA2 I ignored all the nnegative press from many people and looked at the game on its own merit. It was entertaining, it wasn't fantastic but I didn't dislike it. As I mentioned before it had Isabella in it I know Bioware can do better and I am confidant they will
  20. Thanks for the explanation. I am always fascinated by different cultures, another advantage of the Internet is that it is easy to learn about this global world we all live and thrive in. I grew up in a completely atheist family so I was never exposed to anything even remotely religious\spiritual.
  21. For me I think they have learnt lessons. You can see from this blog that Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of DA3, that they are listening to fans and there feedback. http://blog.bioware....ii-inquisition/ So I expect a markedly improved game to DA2. I will be supporting them financially as I do still believe Bioware can deliver entertaining games. I don't think Bioware has learned their lessons, it is more customers like you who haven't. I say this based on how little it is required for you to already be decided upon tossing money at them when this title launches. The two things confirmed, dialogue wheel and voiced protagonist (that can only be one race) is not what I would call lesson learned. But I don't have an issue with the dialogue wheel, in fact just remind me again why its a bad design? Don't get me wrong I prefer the traditional response options like BG2 but its not enough of a reason to make me not buy DA3. Also surly the dialogue wheel wasn't the main reason people didn't like DA2. I thought it was more the laziness in the design around factors like the reused dungeons and creatures just appearing from air. I may be wrong?
  22. First that Crhis Avellsomething person hasn't played Arcanum. Now you haven't played Planescape Torment. I am waiting for the person on this forum who will say "I am playing Hide & Seek for the first time. I am excited to try the playground classic for the first time" You funny Melk To be honest I also haven't played IWD1&2, Fallout 1&2 and BG1 So I have some exciting times ahead before PE gets released.
  23. The one thing I am concerned about is real performance with the Xi3, for example I have 2 GB of memory just on my video card in my gaming PC. How much memory with the Xi3 have in there built-in video card? I know this is a huge factor in the excellent graphic settings I can enable in my games? Does anyone know anything about this
  24. I am about to play Planescape for the first time, I bought it on GOG and will be installing it today or tomorrow with all the recommended Mods from GOG. I'm excited to be playing this classic that people always talk about
  25. For me I think they have learnt lessons. You can see from this blog that Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of DA3, that they are listening to fans and there feedback. http://blog.bioware.com/2012/09/17/a-blog-from-mark-darrah-dragon-age-iii-inquisition/ So I expect a markedly improved game to DA2.
