Thanks guys, Xbox controller it is

*Shivers* Says it all. Why? I never got the elitist attitude that playing a game on PC with a controller is "not the true PC experience" or somehow "lesser" (BTW, I'm not accusing you or anyone here of this ). PC controllers have been around for well over a decade. Some games play better with controllers, like most platformers and essentially any driving/racing game ever made. Flight sims ans space sims play better with joysticks. Shooters play better with mouse & keyboard. There are better tools than others for certain games, simple as. Well I have decided I will be purchasing a Controller just for games like Sleeping Dogs. I agree with your points above around the advantages with a Controller. What type do you recommend? Or are they all the same

Fine, it plays fine with keyboard and mouse for me. Edit: On a side note, I don't know a single other person who uses arrow keys for movement, but I'm not here to dispute your figures, I'm sure there are plenty of people that prefer that over WASD. Point is, to answer your original question, the game is indeed better with a 360 controller. You'll be surprised how many people use the arrow keys, check the links below. I am still playing the game its just harder and I have to get use to other keys http://forums.sleepi...t=1164&start=30 http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2873636

Sleeping Dogs plays fine with mouse & keyboard except driving, but then again driving sucks in any game with mouse & keyboard. Most of the other keybindings you can change no problem, but I never tried the movement keys. For me it was a null point since I just used a 360 controller for everything except gunfights (which are a somewhat small part of the game), the game definitely plays better with a controller. There are just some games that play better with a controller, namely driving games and platformers, Sleeping Dogs definitely fits into that category too. With all due respects you cannot say "sleeping dogs plays fine with KB", it doesn't. You cannot map the arrow keys and this immediately handicaps thousands of people who use this for movement. This is a fact and it cannot be disputed

Very excited, I have read the reviews and they all seem good

They conquered the area 3500 years ago and kicked out the people who lived there. They conquered the area 1300 years ago and kicked out the people who lived there. this is my point, both sides can claim historical rights to the land.
-
Okay thanks for the input, I am consideriing this as option for this game and others like Dark Souls where a controller is recommended
-
I agree 100 %, I am doggedly a PC person. I would have never bought this game if I known about the arrow keys, I am just trying to get it to work as I hate wasting money In all my years of gaming there was only one game I gave up on due to functionality and that was Rage, and all its issues with the ATI video cards

I agree. But yet this is the argument you do hear from the Palestinians and Hamas, they often say that the Jews are "invaders" and "have no right to the land" I am not saying who is more right or wrong. I am just saying that neither side can say they have more historical claim to the land, I think they both do in there own way What historical claim do the jews have? What accurate historical claim do the Palestinians have?

Yes he also kindly sent me the games I requested, very generous and unexpected

I hope someone can answer this as I haven't got to that part of the game yet. Melk do you use a Controller to play this game?

how to make your rpg work
BruceVC replied to anubite's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Thats true, for many the DA series has become a paradigm of how not to produce an RPG -
Yeah most people are. But on the Sleeping Dog forums I read many complaints about the fact you can't easily bind arrow keys. For example this seems to impact left handed people most. And you have no idea how hard it is to get use to new movement keys

TL;DR Sony and MS are gona boast with better graphics for the next gen consoles again, but Nintendo is gonna win anyway. Read it, its the best piece on gaming I've read in a while. Trust me, its worth your time. This is a good read and the writer makes some interesting points. However the article is 7 years old and his predictions have been proven incorrect despite the fact at the time he was correct. He says "Niche: A population of hardcore genre addicts provides both the development resources and audience for the continued development of games in the genre. Quality decreases" and Decline: The market consolidates around the winners of the king-of-the-genre battles that occurred during the Maturity phase. New games genres begin stealing away the customer base. With less financial reward, less games are released. Due to projects like KS the niche market will get quality games, no one could have guessed how much KS would change the development landscape. Its financially feasible for companies to produce quality games for a niche market

I mentioned earlier that I started playing Sleeping Dogs. But there is a story about this. I installed it on Saturday and noticed it wouldn't load, I am comfortable with getting any PC game to work, through editing ini.files or updating relevant driver versions if required, so I wasn't worried. I looked at the box and read a sobering pre-requisite, "Vista and Windows 7 only" Now my gaming machine was on XP which never let me down, but I now realized hat I needed to upgrade. So I did, and I am now on the vastly improved Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition Premium. It rocks, I then started playing Sleeping Dogs and was confronted by some annoying gaming features. You cannot bind the arrow keys to movement. I only use the arrow keys in my games for movement. I am exasperated by the fact that in this modern age of gaming Square Enix can have such oversight as to not think this would be an issue for some people. So I am trying utilize other keys for movement but it takes time. I am also considering getting a Controller for games like this? What are peoples opinions around Controllers and would it solve my keyboard issue in games like Sleeping Dogs

Thats quite a story, your wife sounds like a very understanding person. I used Yahoo to read up on Marie Callenders, seems like a nice franchise for breakfast or a snack

I am just saying that neither side can say they have more historical claim to the land, I think they both do in there own way Honestly, I'd say that the Palestinians saying that are entirely correct. Why? Because there are people still alive who's entire life was forcibly changed by the outside force of the UN and Jewish people saying that they were no longer the owners of the land they lived on. I am not disputing that the Palestinians haven't had a hard time, but it go's both ways. It was the British when they passed the Balfour Declaration, after the First World War, that gave the land to the Jews. So why is it we don't blame the British for unfairly reneging on there promise to the Arabs that they would get a homeland? This interminable conflict between the Israeli's and the Palestinians is complex and has many layers. And you really can't say that the solution is as easy as saying "well one group has a more historical right to the land so they should be allowed to get it"

What I am saying is that the argument that Jews have no historical right to the land where Israel is and that the Palestinians are the rightful owners makes no sense. I am saying both groups can trace there ancestry to the region in certain respects.

I'm confused, aren't Jews originally from a tribe that lived in that land from thousands of years ago? What makes the Palestinians claim to the area more valid than the Jews? Obviously not. Jews aren't tribe or ethnicity, it's just someone converted into Jeudaism. Ashkenazy is converted Slavs, Germans or Khazars. Sefarids have Hispanic/Moorish origin. Bucharian Jews have Central Asian origin, while Kavkaz Jews looks like other Kavkaz ethnicities. Chinese Jews are Asians and Ephiopic Jews are Africans. One tribe, yeah! More you can find easily in numerous anthropological and historical investigations . for example this: http://en.wikipedia....e_Jewish_People To Calax. Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Didn't the Moors and the Ottomans also conquer and subjugate many nations and civilizations , didn't they also convert people to Islam? But once again no one has answered my question. Why do the Palestinians have more historical right to the land that Israel is now on, and also even if some people have been converted to Judaism why don't the Jews have a right to the same land? Can you provide proof that the Palestinians are the "rightful " inheritors of the land, as they were also converted to Islam? Your link you provided states this when it says "Just as most contemporary Christians and Muslims are the progeny of converted people"

I'm confused, aren't Jews originally from a tribe that lived in that land from thousands of years ago? What makes the Palestinians claim to the area more valid than the Jews? Correction Jews are from a tribe that killed everyone else in that land a thousands of years ago and told the story in their best seller: The Bible. Buts thats the history of almost all old civilizations or nations, they survived by being the most brutal and annihilating there enemies or perceived enemies. Also why does this mean they aren't originally from the land that Israel and Palestine is now on?

Damn those squirells are cute You should just have a break from gaming for a few weeks, try some other hobby and then see if you miss it. I work in the software industry so gaming is just an extension of my job, which I love. I can't think of another entertainment hobby that I enjoy as much

Well based on the desultory response I can assume the 3 of us have won the games, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Can I have the Half Life 2 series?

DA:O vanilla was a good game (if you turn a blind eye to certain parts of the story and play the characters with the personality the writers want you to have). Stone Prisoner was a good DLC (well content cut from the game and turned into launch day DLC). I was even tempted to rebuy it, then I realised I'd have Return to Ostagar and everything that came after it... that would just annoy me to knowingly spend money on I keep looking at the Steam page in case the expansion for Anno 2070 gets a better sale than the 33% I agree with your view on DA1, don't compare it to games like the BG series. Its good fun and entertaining, and thats all we should ask from a game
