  1. They're from Gent (en: Ghent) actually (the difference is ~150km ) a city you definitely should to visit if you ever find yourself in Belgium (disclaimer: I might be biased as I live there). Nice, I was in Belgium last year for Tomorrowland. Awesome country, great food and friendly people
  2. Okay Flemish, I was unsure of the accent. Thanks for the information
  3. I LOVE this sort of thing. Being able to creatively approach problems and solve them through unconventional means. I also think this game offers some really innovative ways to solve problems, I like it I have never played any Divinity games either but I now intend to. Oh I will be pledging towards this game, I found the pitch sincere and I like the guy making it. Is he German?
  4. Absolutely. Think of what a single skilled disciplined designated marksman could do in a battlefield like that. It would be a damn turkey shoot. Its a well known fact that almost all African armies lack discipline. This comes from inadequate training that is caused by lack of funds. But don't be fooled, an untrained army in the right environment, like a jungle, can still be deadly

As usual another post from Oby that could be relevant but due to his crusade to expose the West as a corrupt and inefficient entity it's full of incorrect facts and assumptions that aren't true, "sigh". The Oil in the Niger delta is managed by the Nigerian government and it has made many Nigerians very wealthy. The lack of the distribution of wealth and the shocking impact on the ecosystem is due to bad management from the Nigerian government . They are trying to resolve this. This has nothing to do with Western neocolonialism. Nigeria is a friend of the West and many Western countries have major and secure investments in Nigeria. Nigeria won't be buying Nukes, Nigeria doesn't need Nukes. This article is 5 years old and I haven't heard anything lately about Nigeria seriously wanting to invest in them. A couple of additional points from my side. Nigeria is a wealthy country due to oil and I have traveled there several times for work. Its definitely a rising star in the region and carries influence over ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) and the decisions that effect the region, like the recent civil war in Mali. Nigeria has several internal issues that they need to address. The main ones are The distribution of wealth from oil and ensuring that they maintain there infrastructure. Many African countries don't seem to realize the importance of having working infrastructure. Nigeria is not the worst in this regard There is a rise from Islamic Militants in the North of the country, these militants are responsible for terrorist attacks and several killings. They need to be stopped as this makes part of Nigeria unstable Nigeria is a fascinating country to visit and a very important contributor towards the vision of a unified economic Africa. They have there challenges but they have done more good than bad in there political decisions
  6. Hi Nep You must see the positive side of studying in the evening, at least you aren't spending money
  7. Yes Online games that aren't FPS can easily be played on slow lines. All that is basically transmitted across the line are key strokes as the MMO client sits on your PC. About 3 years ago I use to only have 512 Kbps and I played many MMO with people sitting overseas that use to have 10-15 Mbps and I never had any issues. With a FPS you will be at a slight disadvantage as latency can effect per second response times. But its doesn't you mean can't play. If you think about it logically when you play an MMO you are connecting to a server somewhere in the world that thousands of other people are also connecting to. It doesn't mean just because you have a fast line you will have quicker response during the game as other factors will slow down everyones connections speed. Like the number of network hops and the speed of the connection of the network card on the MMO server
  8. " called in sick for this" I am not sure if I should admire or admonish you But I will say taking a sick day off to play a game shows commitment to the principle of gaming, and I can respect peoples commitments
  9. Bolding was hers, not mine Thanks for this, I am going to raise some constructive issues I have with this KS anyway. I really feel this is abuse of the KS system and the least I can do is post my grievances politely
  10. http://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use Then I really don't get this, it makes no sense. I am going to complain directly to KS Edit: How do you send an email of complaint to KS? I can't seem find the link
  11. Thanks for the update, I still think its a good idea
  12. "You took the day off of work to play your new game? How cute... I went on MATERNITY LEAVE to play Project: Eternity, and I'm not even female!" funny
  13. Thats actually a very good point, I would imagine this is in direct contravention of KS policy. Do the KS rules actually state "no pay my tuition bills" ?
  14. Wow thanks, that does put things in perspective. Well I'm utterly disgusted by the project now. As I mentioned I am appalled and highly irritated by this KS but a high number of LinkedIn connections doesn't mean anything, I have over 500 connections and I can promise you I am not a millionaire. People often just accept connections by other people, also there is no verification done around your certification credentials so I can say "I'm a CEO " and I may not be. But saying that her LinkedIn profile does reveal some of the subterfuge she is practicing, IMO. She says " An award-winning serial entrepreneur with a proven track record of success, I'm particularly good at creating something from nothing or making the most playing the hand I'm dealt". Note the words " I'm good at creaing something from nothing" Now lets look at this particular KS. If you were looking at KS trends that have raised money quickly we can see how RPG have the ability to raise money and get people pledging. We know that Torment broke records. So what does this lady do. Not only does she claim she is making an RPG but she says her 9 old daughter who is being victimized by her brothers wants to. So in one KS attempt she appeals to Any feminist, she plays the "female trying to make it in tough male dominated world" card Any developer who has had a tough time in there lives trying to make a game People that love to support RPG If you read the comments of people that have supported her you will see they almost all come from those groups. They are not supporting her because of the logic or feasibility behind the game but rather who she says she is. Its more of an emotional support. I have no issue with people spending money on what they want but I find this whole KS reprehensible because she is someone who knows how to play people and she is truly taking advantage of people that should be spending money on legitmate projects. I hope I am proven wrong but I can guarantee you we will never see an RPG from her 9 year old daughter
  15. I can empathize with living in a country that has relatively slow Internet access. We only have 10 Mbps ADSL. Also almost our ADSL connection use your standard copper phone line. Of course fibre optic is a better medium for transmitting data and there are infrastructure investments and fibre optic being laid in the ground in certain places in South Africa. I am waiting for the day when I'll have a direct fibre optic connection from my house to the ISP point of presence
  16. I think it sounds really promising, or am I missing something?
  17. Yaaaaay, this makes me happy
  18. , you're not playing much of a thief any more. Good point so therefore it shouldn't make much of a difference?
  19. Well you can't blame the strong countries of the EU like Germany for countries, like Greece, for fudging there books and mismanaging there financial institutions when they joined the EU. No country was and is forced to become part of the EU.
  20. I don't see the problem. Dark tends to be, you know, dark. Stuff really is hard to see. I fail to see how anyone can argue with your logic
  21. QFT You words of wisdom resonate with me
  22. So you can't conceive that PE could be a world or have a link to Numenera? Granted I know little about the Numenera universe but I see there are elements of fantasy and associations to fantasy realms. Also did you read what we said. Who said anything about WOW in space, we are talking about the exchange of lore, people, monsters and idea's between the 2 games. I fail to see how that can't be possible.
  23. Guys Osvir started a really good thread about shared questing and lore between PE and Numenera http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/63544-eternitynumenera-referencesinteraction/ I think it has huge potential. I know there are people on this section of the forums who have great insight into fantasy RPG so why don't you post some suggestions in his thread? I am keen to see the idea's
  24. Okay thats funny, you get the BruceVC humor award for the week If I hadn't played Torment recently I really wouldn't have got any of these lines
  25. As I mentioned I think this has huge potential and offers something unique that I haven't seen before in any RPG. I'm not sure if the developers should implement direct related quests, in other words lets use your example about the sword. If you are only playing one game and the other at a much later time period, maybe a few months later, certain things might not make sense when they are related to something in the other game. But general associations would work. One example could be a certain powerful person in PE who gets kill by your party but then ascends to the world of Numenera. This entity could rant and rave how he was betrayed in his home world and have certain ambitions based on vengeance I would like to hear other suggestions between the worlds as there so many ways to implement the links between the worlds. Its exciting
