  1. You make some good points, but the USA has the advantage in this type of monitoring as most of the primary Social Media servers are housed in the USA and the technology comes from there. So its much easier for the NSA to integrate Prism into the systems that they want to monitor. But I also think people do care, you mustn't become jaded
  2. That was the brand, she was going on and on about 'em.. and how she had to import them. What a coincidence , they come from Spain if I'm not mistaken. I didn't think you could get them anymore. Those shoes are amazing, they last a lifetime
  3. Those shoes remind me of a type of shoe we use to get in South Africa, they were called New Rocks.
  4. Wait who is running for election, Assange? You can't be serious?
  5. Actually Walsie in my world you are my defender of Democracy !!!!
  6. That's saying "if they had unlimited amounts of time, money and manpower". If they did, I'd be fine with the feature being there, still wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't mind it either. But they don't have unlimited resources. 4 million budget is not even 40 million. There'll be lots of questions to the tune of "this would be a kind of a neat feature, but is it worth the effort?" Stuff will be cut no matter what. They just mustn't cut the important stuff like Romance\Sex from PE
  7. Really Zora? You honestly believe that a private person has the authority to decide what confidential information marked by a country as "secretive" should be made available to the world. Did you read some of the reports and opinions he made public? You can't be so naïve to believe that every international or diplomatic issue between countries gets resolved in the media where we all know what is going on? There is a reason why we have private meetings between countries where certain opinions are not shared with the public. This is the way the world operates and we sure don't need the likes of Julian Assange, who clearly had a vendetta with the USA, choosing what needs to be bought into the public domain. Who gave him the right?
  8. Assange will eventually try to leave the Ecuadorian embassy and I am confident he will then be arrested by the UK authorities. They are keeping quiet but I'm sure they are monitoring his movements carefully
  9. Alex Jones is one of the most childish radio celebrities I have ever seen or heard. I cannot understand why he has any fans. Apparently his abrasive, uninformed and insulting personality is what draws a certain group to him? He does come across as a complete fanatic. You should watch his interview on CNN with Piers Morgan about gun control, he came across as a completely mentally unbalanced extremist. I was embarrassed for him watching it
  10. Of course, while little girls are getting acid thrown in their face in the middle east, just because they want to attend school, the typical western feminists is much more concerned with breasts size in video games or comic books. You're not fooling anyone, this is not helping women and this is not helping the gaming industry either. This is only a matter of some people stroking their ego by attacking anyone who doesn't share their prudishness. Well for the record I am opposed to abuse of any women throughout the world. But in many countries where women's rights are marginalized there is very little we can do as we don't control the culture or laws in those countries. But we can object to how Western gaming development companies portray women if we feel its offensive. We can use forums and have discussions that raise awareness. As someone who travels to the Middle East for work I firmly believe we can have more impact on changing gaming companies than some of the cultures in some parts of the world.
  11. I see. Can't fault oby's content generation skills if he prompted this much. Never underestimate how much discussion an important topic can generate, irrespective of who makes the original post
  12. It matters because many of us are opposed to the objectification of women in games, but I'm not sure if all the comments in this thread are related to that
  13. After reading everyone else's opinion I decided I am against the implementation of a New Game+ concept
  14. Is this a joke? You seriously think Martin's writing is advanced? Rare? I do Drowsy I think he the best Fantasy writer I have ever read for a number of reasons.
  15. You must, you have to. I assumed you had as you have a very good understanding of the overall direction of the plot and way the George RR Martin has created the world and personalities. The books give you so much more depth around the characters. I am enjoying the TV series but they just can't compare to the books
  16. As I mentioned not in the books, Catelyn is resurrected when Beric Dondarrion sacrificed himself for her. I'm not sure if she is completely human and she hates the Lannisters with all her soul, but she is alive.
  17. LadyC its funny you mention that but I met several really friendly Chinese gentleman who explained how much they love cats. They work in the restaurant business and are based in the USA so if you want I can put you in contact with them? I don't think they will charge much...
  18. I think that's a fallacious and simplistic way to look at how George RR Martin writes Firstly he is a master of creating unexpected plot developments but also working in the grey area of what is good/evil. Its an advanced and rare form of writing that you don't seem to understand IMO (sorry to sound harsh) Lets take Jaime Lannister. In the beginning he seems to be a real bad guy and almost kills Bran Stark to protect his depraved affair with his sister. However as the story progresses we see there are nuances to his personality and he becomes someone we end up liking. A good guy. Also what do you mean he kills the Starks? Only Rob and Ned have been killed. Sansa, Arya. Brandon, Rickon and Catelyn are still alive. And we don't know the status of Jon Snow. Of course everything I have mentioned is what is contained in the books, the movies use a certain artistic license and there are a few differences. But my point is more around your comment "Just think what the most horrible outcome would be and he's 95% likely to pick it". So you can fault the TV series but I fail to see how you can judge the books in the same way?
  19. Bradley Manning is an individual who _while in uniform_ endangered ongoing operations. So far as I can tell just for reasons of a personal dissatisfaction. I can't begin to express my contempt and loathing for him. Trust me Walsie I doubt you dislike Wikileaks as much as I do. I don't hold Manning as accountable as much as Julian Assange and his self-appointed crusade to "inform" the world about confidential USA reports. Who made him the judge and jury of what the world needs to know? He could have caused irreparable harm to many countries as quiet diplomacy is a real strategy for resolving certain conflicts
  20. There are many different female characters in video games and even in Dragon Crown they all look different, The sorceress is not a norm is an extreme, and she doesn't represent all women anymore than Super Mario represents all men, they are cartoony characters, not an example of how looks or should look like in real life. I find her to be over the top but I also think that people reactions to that game is even more over the top, that's why I defend them. Okay I see what you are saying, you are defending the principle?
  21. Hi Alan Sure but surly 10 hours is too short in any respects?
  22. Yeah, you make some good points. Prism could become very intrusive and used to profile certain demographics only or people who just have a controversial view on politics.
  23. Biggest steaming load of bollocks ever. Do you know what policemen will tell you to do, if you are apprehended by the police when you have done nothing wrong? Don't tell them anything. They just want to ask you a few questions! They don't think you did it! Oh, it'll be okay! No, don't say anything. Any and every innocuous, innocent, even noble thing that you do in your life can easily be turned into something scandalous, incriminating, sufficiently suspicious, when under the close eye of people who are trained to look for suspicious things and have some reason, whether right or misguided, to think you may be suspicious. Why should we now live our lives by the maxim that "you should live so cleanly and unambiguously that no amount of secret surveillance upon every aspect of your life will incriminate you, and if you don't, then it's bloody well your fault that they're now probing up your buttcheeks"? It's nonsense. As for the story itself, I don't think this comes as a big surprise to anyone who knows a little bit about these issues. And talk of wiretapping, Homeland Security, etc. has always been in the air. But the media have shot this one out of a cannonball and it may well become an overwhelming issue. You make some good points, but the purpose of Prism is ostensibly to prevent Terrorist attacks. No one is saying you can't have other things wrong. For example lets say you didn't pay your full tax, I doubt the NSA cares about this so this you wouldn't be arrested due to the Prism surveillance. In summary the main debate is should the NSA be allowed to monitor social media in order to prevent terrorist attacks? I feel they should be allowed but the risk is what if they decide to take the mandate to other aspects of your life...like the Tax issue. Then it would be getting out of control
  24. Guys this is a really big story, I'm surprised that our American members haven't commented more. This could seriously undermine the Obama presidency. I see now that the whistle-blower has just admitted who he is. He is a 29 year old Computer expert. His name is Edward Snowden and he worked for the NSA http://uk.news.yahoo.com/prism-spying-whistleblower-goes-public-210653346.html?.tsrc=yahoo#htsZp2B I wonder if the will be charged like Bradley Manning who was responsible for the Wikileaks USA diplomatic cable scandal leak
  25. But that's the thing, Dragon Crown is an extreme example of how women look in games. I don't see it as the norm Many people like myself who argue around the importance of the aesthetics of female characters don't expect or want Dragon Crown characters just not a Cadegund similar look. Someone like Isabella would be more than suitable?
