UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
BruceVC replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
To be fair, in God's country, English isn't the official language. We have no official language, unofficially it's English, but it's still unofficial. In fact two states have another language besides English which is part of the State's heritage or something. New Mexico and Louisiana. Take a guess at what the other language for those two states are. It's too late to try make it a official it at a Federal level as well. Bull****. The least a person can do when immigrating here is learn the predominant language. That's English. Any other country expects the same. I do think if person makes a decision to immigrate to another country they need to learn the local language -

The 3 most commonly spoken languages in the world are English, Mandarin and Spanish -
Personally I think he is a bigot but his posts don't reflect that as he aware of the forum rules. But yes you are right most of the time you can see a bigot with how he constructs his arguments or posts and not necessarily what he says For example " I'm not homophobic but being gay is not natural as you don't see it in the animal kingdom so why must I be confronted by gayness in a RRG" This is just an example based on many debates I've had with people around equality and bigotry

I agree with this perspective. I know some people think Oby pushes the boundary of the superiority of the Russian nation but I don't think this is racist or unacceptable . It's partly a defense mechanism to elevate the status of Russia as I'm sure he is well aware of all the unacceptable social developments that are going on in Russia. This is his way of trying to convince us of " how great Russia is ". Russia is an important country but they have various economic and social issues that end of the day are holding them back from achieving the global recognition and economic stabilization they could be at. Let him post these absurd links around history and the current status of the world, most of us know these are just exaggerations or simply lies. His posts make me laugh most of the time because they are so inaccurate

Positive reenforcement. Provide free rides and instant revomal of passports upon arrival to destination. Everyone wins. "Tired of living with a bunch kuffars in a country that celebrates christmas instead of ramadan? Is the law of the land not Sharia enough for you? If so, apply now for the royal repartriation programme; offering one way rides to your muslim country of choice. Seek your spritual origins. Gain new closeness to your muslim peers. Choose the Royal Repartriation Programme." I suggest campaigning very vigorously in prisons, youth centers, and around places for religious celebration. For the real radicals that want to stay and turn the whole of Britain into a islam nation, you can always arrest them for being racists by proxy (hatecrime). Meaning that since they want to turn Britain into an Islam state, they are against multi-culture and that makes them in the eyes of law: racists. What I always find interesting is the very small number of people who choose to leave Western countries and immigrate back to more conservative Muslim countries -
I can understand your concern and frustration but if it was me I would ask " is this normal for your wife" It isn't so I would explain you are unhappy but don't make too much of a big deal, sometimes people just nedd time with friends and "me time" Sorry if I seem unsympathetic because I'm not

And how is that compatible with free speech? (open question) There is a major difference and one in the UK the authorities distinguish on. You can have free speech but you can't have hate speech or encourage people to turn against the UK government . For example Abu Qatada was deported for crimes in Jordan and hate speech in the UK -
Actually I agree, I do think Oby believes Russian culture is superior to Western culture. Its flawed and horribly incorrect but its easy to see how someone can believe that when they only have access to certain sources of information. You can see this from his numerous links I have always said " the Internet is the greatest source of information of the 21st century, but it can also be greatest source of misinformation" I don't think Russian culture is inferior. I am opposed to the lies he is promulgating precisely because they defame Russia most of all. His is not the Russia of the valorous poet or mathematician. It is Russia of the venal bully boy and oligarch. If Tolstoy were on this forum he would challenge the sordid ****er to a duel! If Altschuller saw his posts he'd spend 40 years working out how to prevent another one! Nah Russian culture is inferior to Western culture, everyone knows that

Interesting you probably could as it has the right consistency, it just won't be very healthy

Actually I do have a daughter, but when we're going to hell in a hand basket it's strikes me as ludicrous to think about who makes the best role model to take us there, not that teens pay any attention to whoever's the chair of the Fed, it's doubtful they even know the Fed exists. And if she's not going to print money (and I don't know from what you draw that conclusion, since that's exactly what the Fed has been doing, and she's reported to be a big fan of QE), how exactly is she going to create jobs in her role at the Fed? I second everything that Hurlshot has said around Yellen. Also the campaign for equality is ongoing, we don't stop believing in it just because of economic problems in any country So for example in the case of Yellen and her suitability the first criteria needs to be "is the person qualified?" If the person is qualified and is a women then that should weigh heavily in her favour. As mentioned we just don't have enough positive and intellectual role-model women in positions of power

The problem is they have a short deadline. Anyone not insured by February is subject to fines taxes for not enrolling - whether the system was too crap to allow them to register or not. Okay I didn't realize the deadline, that's does makes things more serious but still not insurmountable. There would have to be an extension to this deadline if the system isn't stable, that would be the only logical option Bruce, please take a look at this article and tell me what you think. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2013/10/18/what_if_obamacare_software_crashes_and_burns_120373.html I shouldn't be surprised that the government sat around until spring of 2013 to start getting the system put together, and effing wasted nearly three full years that could have spent fine-tuning the system. That does paint a very morbid picture, thx for ruining my Friday night But on a serious note I mentioned I work with software so I like to think I know a little about how these things work. The one think that will destroy Obamacare this year is if the code is faulty. You can fix resource utilization, network speed, load distribution and integration into other systems but at this stage you can't fix the code if its fundamentally flawed
-
Its okay GD I'll pay for you. Send me your banking details I just want you to start saying how great you think Obamacare is

To all of our backers and fans...
BruceVC replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Or your reading comprehension is lacking. Hes clearly mentioned that he is not seeking attention nor is he upset that information is posted on multiple other sites, but instead that the same information that is shared on multiple other sites is ALSO shared here, where the devs work, and where backers would expect to find that information. But surly someone seeking attention wouldn't state he is seeking attention..that would be counterproductive to getting the attention he seeks I say we force Monte to play Bioware games where there is loads of Romance...that will teach him !!!!- 261 replies

Why would Obama give up on Obamacare because of a badly implemented software program? I agree that this must be frustrating but this can be fixed and the problems addressed the same as any complex software program. In South Africa the Home Affairs department about 4 years ago implemented a new system to track and expedite the creating of ID documents. The system was very buggy in the beginning and basically useless. People were very angry as for about 2 months there was almost no progress or allocation of important documents. But they fixed the issues and now there is a national working database I can't judge the success or failures of Obamacare on the application used to manage the various transactions as it can be fixed.
