  1. I am also keen to see what transpires, I expect we will see some sort of official statement?
  2. Volo I'm extremely disappointed in your post, I always thought you believed in free speech. But it appears you don't. Its not going to happen but lets say all advertisers due to pressure from GG do pull out from a website like Gamasutra and they close down (as I said its highly unlikely but lets say it happens) Basically what you are advocating is because a website doesn't believe what you believe it should be put out of business. This is fascism and hubris of the worst degree, how are you going to sleep at night knowing you support an organisation (GG) that is so intolerant ? I don't agree with radical feminists but I don't think there websites should be closed down just because of what they believe
  3. What is latest update on this game around gender representation? The last debate we had around this topic was that you may be able to play as a female charcter? I haven't watched this video yet as I'm at work so I apologize if this was answered
  4. Okay I think I get it, so fundamentally you guys are opposed to the fascist and dismissive nature of feminists and others trying to influence gaming websites and impacting on free speech with there own narrative of social justice issues. But as long as GG is able to implement a similar change using the same strategy as the hated feminists and force sponsors to leave websites that you don't like that is considered a solid victory? Glad you cleared that up What is the end goal of GG? That every website that ever supported Zoe, Anita or raised a feminist issue should close down due to lack of sponsor support ? Free speech is awesome, as long as it aligns with your views
  5. Manifested...imagine what a surprise its going to be when one day the Moderators of these forums contact you to let you know that you and I use the same IP address. So you and I are the same person and you were completely unaware of it, let it not be said that schizophrenia doesn't have its advantages. We\I will always have someone to talk to....you/I will never be alone. There is definitely something beneficial about that
  6. I'm confused, how is this a victory for GG? I would think a victory is people actually supporting the GG movement and not just being concerned about it? Your article clearly says "However, nowhere in this email does it say, or even imply, that Intel supports the GamerGate movement. Anyone who says so is reading more into the email than what is there. At most, this is Intel trying to stay out of the way as the controversy surrounding GamerGate seems to continue growing. The most some can take away from this is that Intel sees this as a significant issue and controversy because they obviously looked into the issue before sending this email. Whether they agree with GamerGate or not is still up for debate, though Intel’s likely best course of action is to remain neutral to not invoke the ire of any group interested in GamerGate"
  7. The fact that Iraq has said they don't want USA troops within there country means nothing, they also said in 2011 when the USA pulled out that it was great day and that they would determine there own destiny. Now 3 years later they have needed US assistance to deal with a issue caused primarily by mismanagement of sections of there own population
  8. To actually send USA ground troops to a place like a Iraq for a sustained period of time has huge logistical implications, these include Where would they be based? What about daily supplies? What about the USA heavy machinery? Where would it be kept? Considering the fact ISIS is spread through large parts of Iraq Would ground troops now cross the border into Syria? This alone opens another can of worms But the most obvious point that this is not a good idea is that ISIS and other people will use this as a justification around " how the USA is invading Iraq again" The USA has only just disentangled itself from Iraq and "boots on the ground " campaign . It doesn't want to go back that route
  9. Well if you were Obama what else would you do differently? Why do you think these are half-measures. For example the USA could send ground troops to Iraq if they really motivated this course of action. But that doesn't make sense from a logistical and historical perspective. I still think its prudent to supply weapons to USA friendly forces, like the Kurds, and use airpower to bomb ISIS, when they can, back to the stone-age
  10. I think selected rants about very popular games makes sense, if no one wants to support the thread then they just mustn't post and it will die a natural death Dark Souls is definitely a good " rant " game because it is controversial Just as well we could start making a single topics for every single news, sales and the games we play. If you didn't notice I didn't call for complete stop for these "rants", I asked to keep the forum clean from spam. Anyone else feels like the quality of this forum has taken a bit of a dip resently? Because I do. For me there have been a few threads that have been negatively impacting the overall quality of the forums, number one on my list is the Patriarchy thread But end of the day it becomes subjective around what is considered quality posts. I still believe people should post something they consider interesting if they don't like what others are posting and more importantly just not post in a thread that they think is silly and banal, which is exactly why I don't post in the Patriarchy thread

  12. What exactly is your point here? Longknife never seems to have said anything about the US. He wasn't even being critical of Israel. He was merely pointing out the fallacious nonsense of the video. The debate with Longknife - was really about the importance of US in war world 2, Longknife stated that russia would have won against germany on its own and overtaken europe, the evidence however does not support that claim. estabishing that claim is important in order to counter people from russia and europe who joins the iranian train of US=BIG Satan. my debate wasn't about Israel at all, while the Israeli treatment can be relevant to the topic since its also suffers from short term memory problems and giant amounts of hypocrisy like the US treatment - Which is why I brought up that video. this thread was filled with many Anti US statements - which are only due to hidden agendas(or not so hidden). agenda which found fertile ground in short memory problems and failed rewrite history attempts. In conclusion the Isis problem is not going away soon nor is The USA the Big Satan. Its true you can never defeat an ideology through military means, but you can curtail ISIS military effectiveness. And this is the objective at the moment, this will and can happen. The USA and its allies will increase the airstrikes against ISIS and continue to support the Kurds in Iraq that are key as the " boots on the ground". Also the new Iraqi government will start including Iraqi Sunnis in the Iraqi government which will vastly reduce ISIS support in Iraq But despite all this, continued and sustained military attacks in Syria and Iraq by the military coalition spearheaded by the USA will be largely responsible for effectively destroying the threat of ISIS
  13. I'm very busy at the moment at work, I am about to start a new implementation around this application I support at a prominent South African financial institution. So I'll be onsite most days for about 6 weeks. I like working at large corporations, they treat you well and correct business processes are understood It never ceases to amaze me how much more efficient generally the private sector is compared to the public sector
  14. Guys I haven't played Skyrim yet but I refuse to be put off my impending journey into this fantasy realm by all this negativity "Skyrim for President " !!!!
  15. I don't think you understand sharp ones core message, he's just a dieheart communist looking to encourage the people to give commie revolutions another try. No He is many things but a Communist he is not. In fact he is very vociferously opposed to Communism
  16. Please don't misunderstand me, corruption is a terrible blight that inflicts society and needs to be addressed But in the South African context we just want companies who can do a proper job, that in certain ways is more important than how they go it. And this applies to the public sector only
  17. The power dynamics on those types of relationship are skewed yes, just because they are susceptible to become abusive doesn't mean that they inherently are. If I hold public office and award contracts to a company I have significant shares in ... that may not be corrupt. It may be the best contractor. But you can't seriously suggest it should be accepted. I get what you are saying but I don't know if that scenario you described would be unacceptable? In South Africa we have massive issues around corruption in the public sector and the awarding of tenders to people who know government ministers. And what happens in many cases is that the people who win the tender selection process can't do the job, so you have a failure to deliver certain services and projects due to nepotism But if the company was able to do the work and they really are the best company to do the particular work is that really a problem? It definitely can create a conflict of interest but it doesn't have to be.
  18. In other words they do want destroy Syrian property and important Syrian economical structures. The Terror against civilian objects It's usual strategy of NATO (and his predecessors - during WW2 they bombed peaceful German towns instead of military objects by same way), we see many examples of this during war in Serbia, Iraq and Libya. As usual your understanding of these events is horribly misinformed ISIS controls certain energy resources in Syria, the airstrikes are designed to weaken and destroy ISIS ability to generate revenue and wage war. Therefore obviously this gas plant is a legitimate target as by destroying this you reduce the military effectiveness of ISIS as they have less money to fund there operations
  19. I bought the latest Tomb Raider game as a physicalgame this year, but to the honest its just cheaper and more convenient to use digital distribution services like Steam But I still buy physical copies for games that I am very excited about like DA:I, Witcher 3 and GTAV
  20. Its not unreadable, English obviously just isn't his first language. He may have used a document editor for spell checks and now the formatting is inconsistent when it gets copied to the forum?
  21. Good post Ros, you have articulated the issue very eloquently
  22. Guys please try not to intentionally misunderstand ,me, I have been partying the whole weekend and I'm feeling very tender No one is saying that a women who rapes a child or a man shouldn't go to jail, obviously the law must take its course But this article is making it out that female teachers rape there pupils, its not rape its statutory rape and its consensual It not the same as a 20 year sentence that gets imposed on a rapist. Lets not be silly now
  23. This link is really irritating and is nothing less than a misogynist and pathetic attempt by someone to point about what exactly? That there are teachers who have had sex with there pupils? This isn't even rape and the sex is consensual so its probably statutory rape. And then he tries to lesson the appalling act of rape that exists in the real world. Seriously this link is one of the worst reads I've seen in while
  24. WOD I understand that you and Hurlshot have different opinions on CAIR and that's normal and to be expected But Hurlshot is not someone to just formulate an opinion on something without having interacted with it, its too important to just have a random view without being certain And this is relevant as one of the main deterrents to the support of Islamic extremism in Western countries. Groups like CAIR play a role that vocally criticize groups like ISIS, this is needed to make it clear that this interpretation of Islam will not be something that Muslims will accept. So by saying CAIR is linked to fundamentalism is a serious accusation
  25. Nonek I may have misunderstood you but are you suggesting in other comments that you actually aren't heavily invested from a sympathy and support perspective with GG? In other words you aren't really on a " side"
