  1. Anyone who's serving could potentially be in a combat situation. If you're not ever going to have a draft, there's no point of registering. Once they're registered, what's to stop an SJW president from sending them into combat? Look here, Wrath of Dagon, I actually naturally feel the way you do. I would not let my mother, wife, or sister jump in front of danger before me. I agree that men have a hero complex and that is no where more apparent than in the United States pretty much through it's entire history. However, if women *really* want to be equal, then they must have equal stake and equal risk. I think ShadySands hit the nail on the head, and it's something I've been trying to get across. Most people don't serve in actual combat roles. You're right that any service member can end up in combat, but those situations already exist and women have already seen them. Not to mention women flying in what is essentially combat roles as helicopter pilots. Volourn has a point about the sexism to men, and I agree with him. I'm kind of scared of him too, so I won't critique his manner of saying it, but the truth is the truth. However, it's also sexist to women. Either they are our equals in terms of facing danger or they are our charges and we must decide what is best for them. It does a great disservice to women to pretend that we must protect them by denying them the right to fight for God, Country, and loved ones. But we need to use common sense and be logical when we say " we need to consider women as equal to men in society " This applies to things like gender pay gap, women's right to abortion, women's right to decide what career they want " etc. But we not talking about women being equal in every facet of society because there are real physiological differences between men and women and sometimes you will put women at a major disadvantage if you want them to be treated completely equally to men For example in contact sports like rugby, football, american football men and women teams dont compete against each other for obvious reasons ....so I'm unclear how men are being discriminated against like volo suggests?
  2. I wouldn't force women to fight in the first place. There's no equality on this issue, men are natural killers, women are not. If they volunteer, that's a different story. This. I thinking drafting women is uncivilized for a number of reasons. If they want to fight, ok, but they have to be placed in suitable combat situations. Front lines or close quarter combat, they just wouldn't be as effective. Also, women combatants would have much more to lose if they were captured by the likes of Isis. You guys do realize that the military isn't entirely infantry and special forces, right? Most women would not qualify for those roles, hell, a lot of men don't even qualify for them This is making me think it's even a better idea than I did before because hopefully people like you would then oppose any unnecessary war that might require a draft Shady when you trained for the marines before you were deployed how many women did the marine training in your unit?
  3. You beat me to it, rat bastard! I was going to say that men wanted women around in order to take a bullet for *them.* Hey saving a lady's life is probably a decided advantage in getting her to sleep with you. Of course, knowing some of the Wandering Monsters I've seen, you might rather not. But guys dont you think its normal for men to put themselves in danger before a women has to, obviously I mean in a non-military environment Its the same principle when a ship is sinking. The expected way passengers are saved is " women and children first " I doubt I would jump on a lifeboat before a women or a child?
  4. Logan's and Billy's narrative is based on Dolores' memories and we have seen her mixing up happenings in her head and seeing Billy in places and times where he wasn't actually. They are both different people from RL and are participating in different narratives that may align...what am I missing?
  5. I suppose its possible, how long has the institution been in operation? Maybe 15-20 years so maybe Arnold was only alive in the beginning? But it is odd because they would have digital pictures of him for security?
  6. Its these types of comments from you I find redeem your more offensive ones ...you do make me laugh at times " illegal Muslims "
  7. Guys its seems fatuous to keep objecting to the recount now, I was watching an interview with Sanders and he said this is perfectly legal and the Republicans may ask for one in NC? Lets get this recount over and done so we can move on to addressing other issues. I cant see even if Hilary wins these states how does this even change her standing in electoral colleges. She has already won the popular vote but Trump will still win the overall election
  8. Yes you right in certain ways because we cannot ignore the reality that the Colonialists, which are my ancestors as you know, did rule for 300 years or so and you will find certain flaws and dysfunctions in the first African leaders which is a contributing factor to the fact that every single African country the French and British gave back was bankrupt by the 1980's ...except for Botswana Take a quick look at this map and see how many countries that was and notice the date they got there independence https://rachelstrohm.com/2014/02/01/african-colonization-independence/ But you have made me think about something you may find interesting, I think you have some deep SJ values which I always think is a good thing. You probably more critical than I am about things like colonialism Have I ever told you about the true nature of Apartheid? It made me a better person ....but its a grim story but real and meaningful. Let me know if you want to know ?
  9. No thats untrue as well I know the history of Africa since the British and French decided to give independence to all their colonies in 1957, Ghana independance , till now very well and Im always updating and refreshing my views as some things change due to those radio talk shows . Both of those leaders made terrible choices long after coming to power. I promise you, I can go into more detail if you interested ?
  10. Please tell me you not suggesting its the US fault for the 50 year destructive rule of Castro?
  11. Especially since there are literally millions of them and the great majority had family members who were killed, imprisoned, or fled one step ahead of either. Castro is a historical figure in the same league as (although not as bad as) Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and on the level of Pinochet, etc. He is wholly undeserving of the praise he has received these last few days from world leaders and the otherwise intelligent people here on this very forum. I do not understand it but there does seem to be a twisted admiration for dictators and mass murderers from some folks who favor a left leaning political ideology. I'm reminded of Obama's effusive praise of Castro and Chavez a few years back and the way certain Democrat Senators fawned over Soviet leaders in the 80's as examples. GD I have raised this with you many times, on this forum there are several members who for various reasons want the USA and the West to fail. Its nothing unusual in the sense there is always someone who wants the USA to fail but most of the general animosity globally towards the West is reduced Anyway these members will always support anyone who is perceived as " anti-Western " ....thats all that matters to them, its okay if the person is a dictator as long as they dislike the USA
  12. Volo I would appreciate if you didn't speculate about what Cubans are, lest of all while i'm around. Reducing an entire group of people to two views just to illustrate a point might be how you get your argument across but I won't stand for such sophistry, specially when its my people you're talking about. Then why dont you give us your views? I would have long commented on SA to avoid exactly this type of speculation We not going to beg you and the reality is I also agree with much of what Volo says
  13. Only a liberal would be able to toss aside a person's entire life's work and hijack them as one of their own. Its okay, we allowed to do that as liberals have been proven to have the moral high ground....haughtiness is just part of what defines us
  14. No Bennie patriotism doesnt mean blind loyalty or some kind of nationalistic\nazi outcome In the case of Germany and the EU it just means you support the concept of the EU and Germany's contribution. Now some people want the EU to dissolve, if this happens this will weaken the West and the entire world. You have a right to have a voice and I would use it? Yes there are great countries, these are governments that try very hard to ensure good governance, economic growth and keep there citizens happy " In life if we dont stand for something we fall for anything "
  15. That series is very popular in SA, did you enjoy it? I dunno if I enjoyed it but I did get wrapped up in it I found myself reading a Downton Abbey wiki just to find out what happens to all the characters since I don't actually want to watch it anymore but I do want to know what happens. I know that probably doesn't make a lot of sense It makes perfect sense to me, I have done that before. I watch a series and build a connection with some character but for some reason I cant or wont watch the rest of the seasons ....but I need closure so I read what happens at the end
  16. Every Cuban I've ever met has a serious issue with Castro. I take their word over anything else. I'm hoping that you know even the basics of Cuban history. If you do you should be well aware that the opinions of Cubans living in the US are, at best, a one sided view of those affairs. But do feel free to ignore fifty years of established international politics and world history for someone's bitter anecdotal evidence. By the way, shouldn't you, as a teacher, be dealing primarily with facts? Drowsy come on.,...the irony with you suggesting Hurlshot needs to focus on facts must be a joke ? You have made several comments like " Castro is one of the greatest leaders the world has ever seen " and " Castro is a better leader than any EU leader "....and the concern is I think you actually believe this
  17. Dont worry my friend you will notice that high ground is always full of the majority of forum members already.....we always welcome another commentator
  18. Nope, international heroes status point out towards the sea; to their land of birth. National heroes point towards inland. "The West won"...says the SJW, marxist, socialist person that believes himself a humanist. Would you prefer I lied and said " Communism prevailed as it was stronger ideology " And I have never claimed to be a SJW because that word gets abused...I am definitely not a Marxist I do believe in a form of socialism like our friends in Scandinavia and I am a humanist ...ask volo, he will confirm this Liberals have exchanged humanism with socialism and would have you believe that to be moral is to engage in economical socialism (e.g. Welfare programs and such) if you're against those the please do say so. The fact is that most of modern liberals can trace their ideology to the counter culture movement of the 60's and 70's which were infiltrated by KGB in order to create dissent in the US and do the same thing they did to Afghanistan. Yet that ideology remains ignorant of its communist ties, and even more ignorant of how they aid the establishment. Some of what you say about is correct, for example I looked up the word humanism and Im glad I did because I misunderstood its meaning...yes I believe in that I also believe not everyone will be part of the economic transformation so welfare programs are necessary for some I believe economic growth needs to be driven by the private sector but government has the right to intervene in certain cases of gross mismanagement like in 2008 All male citizens need to do 1 year compulsory military service, this doesnt mean marines or hardcore infantry units. You could join logistics...but this would be seen as a form of patriosm 1. Humanism is great, I agree. It goes well with my personal existentialist and general politically left views, but it really should be the foundation of any society. About Marxism... Well I think if Marx was alive today he'd be pretty satisfied with Germany's state, communism is a extrem idea born out of extrem circumstances and shouldn't be directly applied. but I do think his criticism of capitalism is quite perspective and should be much more talked about. But if you ask me, I'm a social democrat. 2. Agreed, but I'd go even further. I support the idea of basic unconditional income for all, regardless of age, job and so on.... I quite like and support the idea. 3. I think the goverment shouldn't need to react, the regulations should already be there. A very important regulation in my opinion would be to force banks and firms that are considered "to big to fail" to split up. 4. I don't like patriotism. Never did. If my country has my respect them because it earned it. And with 2017 elections, it might loose it again, who knows. Anyway, I do not support the idea of making that year compulsory. Rather, to strengthen the military sector I support alliances between states in a sense that a single army is created (such as the idea of a EU army). This not only strengthens the military, but it also makes war between the members much more unlikely and, since the governments need to agree with each other to do something, makes war on other countries less likely as well. But I don't think young people should be force d to do a year in the army. Give them a choice between army and social services. Bennie you make some good points Government needs to have institutions like SEC in the USA to ensure regulation in the financial sector. Until 2008 I was opposed to this but i realize it needed. There is no country left in the world that allows its financial sector to be unregulated anymore Arent you loyal to Germany? Dont you feel proud of being German.....thats patriotism What do you mean by social services?
  19. Check this definition http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/humanism

  21. I went to Bronwynn's sisters place tonight for a barbeque\braai tonight I use to work with her sisters husband so we all get on very well, they doing another fun run tomorrow morning so it wasn't a late night
  22. Yes Africa has had its share of terrible leaders and brutal dictators that were much worse than Castro...we have had leaders in Africa that literally committed every possible war crime known to the Geneva Convention But nowadays we only have one real war criminal left, Al-Bashir from Sudan The ME currently holds the worst leaders at the moment, Assad must be top of the list ?
  23. " Castro is one of the most remarkable politicians and leaders of the 20th century " ....dude you at least consistent with your criticism of the West, that's all I ask people like Zora. There is nothing wrong with having issues with the West, everyone is perfectly entitled to there opinion. Its irrelevant, inaccurate but understandable in your example But the depths of hyperbole ....Putin would be at least believable ?
