  1. I realize you partly joking but their are people who studiously misunderstand this latest FB objective and create and feed conspiracy theories which are unhelpful and just add to all this hysteria and unnecessary " FB bashing " I like the idea of a metaverse in some ways of engaging, not with everything as nothing beats normal face to face and RL communication
  2. Its linked to their objective of creating a metaverse and makes sense https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/facebook-goes-meta-what-is-the-metaverse-and-why-is-big-tech-obsessed/ I also feel FB has been very unfairly treated in this latest round of whistleblower scandal ....its very selective and if you didnt know better you would think FB was trying to control the world and destroy all our family structures
  3. This post sounds very SJWish and I a dont feel comfortable with what you suggesting Why would you be embarrassed by saying " Im a gamer ". Its incumbent on you to shatter the so called " gaming stereotypes " but by avoiding the topic or by lying about it you dont help anyone or improve the situation
  4. You right, its so counterproductive and for many of us gamers you have an immediate sense of annoyance and I dont support the issue because it seems so cliched and staged....being a surreptitious right wing organization makes sense And I do visit Kotoku sometimes to read their articles its just these types of discussions I ignore
  5. This is your classic Kotoku " lets make a big deal about some SJ issue in gaming even when there isnt an issue "
  6. Normally the fact that you have never played F:NV would be unforgivable and the UN recently made this a crime against humanity but since you are now playing it all is forgiven I never understand how anyone could not love Bethesda games, they all great and make sure you use normal and adult mods with F:NV, use the Vortex Nexus Mod Manager if you not already using it
  7. Unless it gets reviewed as terrible by multiple gaming websites and gamers on release I will definitely be playing this game, I Iove games set in the Vampire universe And when I mean terrible I dont mean due to bugs as those can be fixed like Cyb2077
  8. Amentep Halloween dressing up is supposed to be about fun, you dont really want to terrify people
  9. I love streaming services like Netflix, I dont view what's available for sometimes 10 days and then, like today, I noticed that the second season of Another Life is showing I am not a huge Sci-fi fan but I really enjoyed the first season so guess what I am watching tonight I am planning on watching Night Teeth this week, Im very excited
  10. Absolutely, especially with Sheridans blitzkrieg of the Southern states and scorched earth policy. War should never be about targeting civilians https://militaryhistorynow.com/2015/02/02/sheridans-scorched-earth-campaign-the-union-armys-forgotten-war-crime/#:~:text=Sheridan’s Scorched Earth Campaign — The Union Army’s,of the Shenandoah Valley. 11. These words should be banned in the usage of legislation, not in common use, because you cant create laws or make any serious argument based on a biased, inaccurate " fake " work. Imagine passing a bill based on " whiteness" ? Have you ever researched how the study of "whiteness " was created and what its suppose to mean. Racism is a real word and form of bigotry and anyone can understand hate speech but this deluge of new words we see is not honest or helpful to meaningful debate
  12. But on a serious historical note, the secession of the Southern states was illegal and as far as I know no state can legally leave the Union unless its agreed by the Federal government or is that even possible ? Of course I cant understand nowadays why you would want to leave the union but people do bring it up like Texas and recently when California wanted to leave after the Trump victory. I can only imagine Gromnir and Hurlshot being conscripted into the "new California army " to fight for Californian independence https://www.texastribune.org/2021/01/29/texas-secession/
  13. You seem confused about history Malc, everyone knows the Civil War was actually the " War of Northern Aggression " !!!
  14. I can agree with the banning of certain words like " woke" , "whiteness" and "white fragility" and others because they not real English words and have been literally created in the USA in the SJ arena But words like social justice and racial supremacy have meaning that are not about race baiting or selective views of a particular race
  15. Comrade please explain to me something that always confuses me, what is the difference between a white person and lily white person? Should I refer to myself as a white person or a lily white person and this comes up sometimes in SA where socialists mischaracterize the ownership of businesses as " controlled by lily white people " ....so its part of the SA narrative and its so confusing And you wrong about what motivates trade and economic decisions, very few trade decisions are based on the race of the country. Trust me I know this because as you know I am a true believer and disciple of the Capitalist and free market system These decisions are made on the outcome of risk vs reward so in other words you trade with countries based on the positive outcome and factors like profitability and the necessity of things like resources. So for example we all buy commodities like oil and gold from numerous countries and in the example of oil it comes from the ME which as you know its arabs that live their not white people So the decision on all trade is about quantifiable metrics, policies and outcomes. The race card is not part of it. But good try again, I appreciate the effort
  16. How you finding it, you not offended by the revisionist anti-liberal interpretation of history ?
  17. That often happens to me and I have a large GOG list as well so I have many games that are part of the favorite genre, fantasy RPG yet I find myself undecided on what to play ...and its a little frustrating But I have found a way to generally address this , I will play any game from my list that is not a fantasy RPG like a Ubisoft game or an adventure game. So I just finished AC Odyssey and decided to play Disco Elysium which I enjoyed but stopped after 20 hours and I have decided to play Quest of Glory 4 ....which Im enjoying but also may stop But I now feel excited about the next game I will be playing from my Steam or GOG list which will definitely be a fantasy RPG and I am leaning towards Ultima 5 with Mods or something like Grim Dawn But in summary, play a game outside your normal comfort zone and you should start missing your normal gaming choices. Oh and I also find playing an MMO works and I start missing single player fantasy
  18. It looks good, I never completed this game so I will buy this
  19. I have never ordered groceries to be delivered, I like the social interaction when you go to malls or supermarkets. Even during the pandemic that social connection was appreciated
  20. I respect that view but its not convincing enough and I wouldnt be happy if I was NYC resident with that response from the PDC or mayor As I mentioned I am not suggesting referendums for the majority of rules and new laws but this is important and should be about the community deciding through a referendum type approach. It can be done and many countries implement referendums so I have no reason to believe elected officials of NYC cant do it?
  21. GD something just occurred to me, I thought you and Gail didnt drink anymore? And dont get me wrong, I absolutely support normal drinking and I dont think anyone needs to abuse alcohol when you drink it recreationally...it can be such a nice mood setter and nothing better than watching some exciting sports game at a bar or at home and having a few drinks or a romantic evening like you had So does this mean you drinking again but in moderation which if you asked me I would say its a good idea
  22. Thanks for posting that because that is what I thought, the PDC made that decision and they 11 people. They not the residents of NYC who should have been able decide through an optional referendum or something similar Because you 100 % right, the community needs to decide but where realistic so I dont expect the PDC of any city to have to do referendums for the running of the numerous tasks and decisions required to run a city as busy as NYC but this is too important and emotional to just act without considering what the residents of NYC think What would you personally feel if they arranged a referendum fpr the question " should we take down the Jefferson statue" and 62% of NYC citizens said No and 38% said yes ? Wouldnt you agree then it shouldnt be taken down because the community has spoken in the normal Demcratic way by voting ?
  23. Yes, the community should have a voice in this. Is that what happened in NYC, did they do a vote or referendum?
  24. You make some good points and I particularly enjoyed your response to the question about US myths and slavery But just to clarify and ensure my point is understood about why I dont support taking down of status like Jefferson. Slaver will always be an appalling practice and is also considered as a crime against humanity and its recognised as such by the UN legal bodies. No one should try to defend this terrible practice I am not denying he was a slave owner. Im saying that cannot be the only part of his life he is defined as because every statue of basically every famous person anywhere in the world will have sort of checkered past where they did certain things wrong, Ghandi for example in SA is unfairly and offensively criticized by a few as a racist and anti-black. I cant think of anything wrong with Mother Teresa so yes some statues their would be exceptions ? But what you should do with any historical figure is look at their life in totality, the good vs the bad and then reflect on their positive or negative influence in history. Two things can be true at the same time, Jefferson kept slaves and probably was a racist ( I dont know enough about him to confirm ) but he was also a founding father of the US Now if the US was a failed state then their would be no point in statues of Jefferson but its not as we all know. Its the worlds most influential and important country in a positive way and it really gets compared by many, unfairly at times IMO, to the success and foundation of much of what we follow in any Constitutional Democracy. The US is not better than other countries as thats subjective but its important and that means people like Jefferson matter as one of the founding fathers But I wouldnt support statues of Hitler in Germany because Hitler didnt contribute in a positive way to the great and admired country Germany is today
  25. I am having this debate about "should statues be taken down " on Codex and one member raised a very interesting reason why he believes why some Americans are ostensibly unconcerned with statues being taken down and I would like to know if any US members agree with it or parts of it? It makes sense in certain ways to me but I am not American so I dont know for sure ? He said when I raised this concern and question "I think one reason there is not a very strong reaction against taking down statues in America is that among the people who would be opposed to it, there is a very strong anti-aristocratic, anti-"monarchial" tradition. So it makes it a lot harder to muster arguments of sanctity, a lot of the people who think it's a bad idea in a general sense aren't sacrally offended by it because they have an (often unarticulated) disdain for the idea of authority figures that are put above the ordinary person. There are still a few people who very strongly oppose it of course, but they are still small in numbers it seems. I think generally there is a lot of underestimation in America of the importance of unifying national myths. A lot of our national unity has been invisible in nature, like asking a fish to notice water, where people just sort of forget it exists, and only when it is gone will they notice its absence. "
