Which game are you looking forward to?
BruceVC replied to Dr DC Fate's topic in Computer and Console
You cant be serious? I am not use to you being so morbid and cynical. ELEX 2 is going to be epic and its highly anticipated by all lovers of the PB style of RPG But you forgetting BG3, Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy Origin, Company of Heroes 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to name a few plus DA4 And I am sure their will be loads of JRPG that are coming? -
I am glad you raised this possible confusion of my view, its a view I have ruminated on and followed different discussions around " what is the correct way to describe the violence on 6 January " ? I enjoy all and any debates with anyone who wants to engage with me but sometimes how you frame an argument or disagree with someone can influence if the debate is meaningful and constructive ...and that for me is why we debate, its not about being right or assuming everyone will agree. Its about sharing information and informing people about something they may not know and its sometimes our opinions You are one of those Obsidian members who I have always appreciated how you engage in most debates and then make your point. You not prone to emotion generally and how most of us will frame a valid point in an ideological way. You make your post with facts, data and real examples where applicable and you have changed my opinion on several topics which is appreciated So when you ask "how I can say this " I know you will read what I have to say and if you disagree you may post a link or explain why you disagree. Also another consideration is about the question "can you call January 6 an insurrection " its not unequivocal or defined and their interesting opinions that say it is and some who say it isnt Unfortunately this debate in the US has become one of those debates that for many people it is no longer about the issue or reality of the event but its 100 % politicized by both the left and right....not all debates are like this but this is one of them. Its demonstrated if you watch the more Trump\Conservative view on FOX or the left\liberal CNN view and this is about the journalists and not the overall stance of everyone FOX will always raise the " some of the protestors were just patriot Americans and committed no violence "or say " why is the Biden\Democrats government and FBI only focusing on arresting people involved in this protest but they fine with violence and attacks on police in BLM and ANTIFA protests " And CNN commentators will generally say " of course it was an insurrection, how can anyone say it wasn't this? We warned you guys this was going to happen and Trump is responsible ...this was the darkest day in US history " And both these views have some truth to them but these comments also make certain generalizations and are framed to support certain narratives around politics so what is the truth ? For me it had certain components of your typical insurrection but surely an insurrection has to have an objective that can be achieved? If you consider the deeply spurious views of almost all the protesters is that they like Trump didnt accept that Biden had won the election and their was no real vote rigging or cheating...they chose to believe fake news and misinformation about something as old and successful as the legitimacy of the US elections The whole 6 January event at the Capitol is normally ceremonial as far as I know, so in other words lets say the worse outcomes of what some of the mob was chanting was realized and they had killed Pence, Nancy Pelosi and other prominent politicians would that negate that Biden was president? It would delay the process but Biden would still be president because he won the election with the votes of more Americans than Trump got I just think you shouldn't call this an insurrection based on what is was suppose to achieve? But here is a more important question, why does it matter so much what we call it? I refer to it as Capitol violence or the Capitol attacks and Im more concerned with who was directly responsible for planning it so they can also be prosecuted People who attend any protest or march and commit any crime should be arrested and charged and face jail time if appropriate. This is always my view on protests generally

I have a new pair of takkies for cardio training and the last 2 days of my Cpt walk have been noticeably easier, especially on the hills -
Its always entertaining, but disappointing , to see the likes of Ted Cruz squirm when he is confronted by his own doublespeak and hypocrisy And Cruz shouldnt be using the word terrorism to justify all violence against cops unless it is related to terrorism. So BLM and Antifa violence against cops is not terrorism but it is criminal behavior and needs to condemned in the harshest terms And I wouldnt consider 6 January Capitol attacks as terrorism either but rather violent riots? But some people in the US media really love playing the " the left\right media always generalize about our political motives " card ....Carlson is one of the masters of this
-
Im still not convinced we can call the Capitol violence an insurrection, the semantics do matter. Yes it was violence and yes we should all be concerned and yes people must continue to be arrested but it lacked any long term planning to be a called a credible insurrection, here is a good link that discusses this ( with the current inquiries this may need to be updated ) https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fbi-confirms-there-was-no-insurrection-on-jan-6/ar-AANxOuQ

When it comes to our political views this may be the first time I agree with you, yaaaaay. I always knew we could find common ground. What I agree with is this point " Anyway, the point is pretty moot regardless. Russia is going to deal with the issue and that's that. The West will complain a bit, but secretly be all right with. The end " I agree that we must let Russia deal with this, Kazakhstan is in their geopolitical backyard and as long as the EU or the USA doesnt have to commit resources or be expected to absorb immigrants if the country collapses I think Russia should help But what confuses me is I always thought you , and many other forum members, were opposed to military invention generally by foreign countries and respected the sovereignty of countries? Like in Libya where some incorrectly blame the West for death of Gaddafi and the economic state of the country.. So what is it, do you support military intervention when it comes to keeping failed leadership in place or are you only opposed to it when Western countries intervene ? Or do you only support foreign military intervention when it comes to keeping leadership in power but not removing leadership ? Because you know I support legitimate regime change in several countries and it will be great to get your support in the future

GD why dont you light a fire, that normally heats things up ? -
It means the truth, Russia doesnt want any country allied to it to become a new Constitutional Democracy. So Putin will protect the dictators and authoritarian leadership with all Russian allies They dont care about stabilizing Kazakhstan, the Russian troops will ensure the current president stays in power. Same as Belarus

I didnt know he was mocking people who died from the virus, thats appalling But apart from this Djokovic incident how do you personally feel about governments being strict and banning celebrities from coming to a country who are unvaccinated but the country has a high level of vaccination? If I can give you an example, lets say Brisbane was hosting the "Global Porn Star Awards " , and you have VIP tickets to the afterparty, and it turns out maybe 20-25% of the girls hadnt been vaccinated. Would you insist that they get blocked from entering Oz ? And this applies to all international sports and entertainment events hosted by your country
-
Damnit, you caught me out. I wasnt sure if you were following the reasons for these protests...well played. Its not about the principles of Democracy I am sure if you ask most people on this forum " what do you think about the government of Kazakhstan " they will say " Kazakhstan who " ? ( but the truth is why would most people know much about central Asian countries like this? Unless you a fan of Borat of course then you may have heard of it )
-
But Gorthfuscious lets be honest, this whole thing has become sensationalized and now your politicians are grandstanding and pandering to the " outrage expressed by the Oz public " Do you really care if Djokovic has been vaccinated? He is a sports celebrity and this is about a sports event, we want to see him play Besides you guys are about 80% vaccinated, he is not going to bring some new variant and spread the virus ?

It has its benefits but I would much rather be permanently employed and have a boss but get a monthly salary. This is the first I have been a contractor in my life and its only because I moved to CPT and the work I do primarily in the financial sector is much less because all the banks in SA have their head offices in JHB so their are much less customers But its a beautiful and vibrant city CPT and I have been able to see my family lots so its worth it despite my revenue stream being less -

Last night I landed back in Cape Town at 10 pm and after getting home and unpacking it was 11:30 pm and I normally go to sleep before midnight. Anyway I ended up playing Bards Tale Trilogy: Remastered till 2 am Also Im a contractor so I decided to take today off and game the whole day. ( I cant invoice but sometimes sacrifices must be made on the altar of gaming commitment) I am having great fun exploring Skara Brae and my battles with kobolds, dogs, orcs and conjurerors. I am also enjoying the repetitive exploration and gameplay mechanics and ostensibly easy combat and simple combat strategies...its an entertaining CRPG -
Apparently its fake, my sister sent it to me and said it was real....I should have known better to believe her

Here is the best NY video and olympic video I have ever seen in my life, I must give the CCP full credit for that ...I have never seen anything quite like it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_the_Dog_(film) The Power of the Dog, excellent movie set in 1925 in Montana around the lives of 2 brothers who own a successful cattle ranch and these 2 brothers really cant be further apart. But to quote from the wiki link the movie is about " themes such as love, grief, resentment, jealousy and sexuality" Its directed by Jane Campion and I always like to see excellent movies directed by women It also has some brilliant LGBT themes that are implemented in a such an expected and believable way

What didnt you like about it, was it the unfair comparisons to Trump that bothered you? Shady its just a movie, we dont need to look judge everything in the optics of our political views

" war crime " , if its not that it will be something similar that human rights lawyers will object to. @Elerond normally explains the EU laws reasonably without making it personal or political I know I shouldnt find it funny but the thought of your water cannon story made me laugh If I think of some of the violent protests in SA and the USA and the sense of impunity and entitlement to break the law a water cannon would go a long way to restore order. Maybe even more effective than non-lethal drones ?
