  1. What an interesting video, its good news he feels the chance of nukes being used is remote I hope he is right that Putin wont be in power in 3 months but Im not convinced?
  2. Interesting, so do you think maybe the global, Capitalist weapons industry is not responsible for the invasion of Ukraine ?
  3. I honestly dont get the humor\race baiting in this image, I know its their I just dont see it ?
  4. These stories are always terrible to hear about. War always comes at a price for everyone @Pidesco @Azdeus @Elerond I am watching the speech from the Swedish PM and the Finnish president in the US. Very constructive and encouraging words from your leaders about the reasons for joining NATO and the support for NATO. If you get a chance you should listen to it or download it for later
  5. But arent you concerned as a US citizen with institutions that claim to be concerned with misinformation supporting\endorsing misinformation themselves?
  6. The state of the Sri Lanka is terrible but thats an example of a country that has for years mismanaged its overall economy similar to the PIGS countries before the necessary austerity. @kanisatha Whats your high level view on the reasons for the collapse of the Sri Lanka economy ?
  7. Yes lets all be honest, Putins War was initially about the complete defeat of the Ukrainian army and the occupation of Kiev. We were even told that most of the Ukrainians were going to " welcome the invading Russian forces because they love Russia and hate the Neo-Nazis that control the country and represent the Zelensky government " They failed to do that and now its about the Donbass and parts of the south. But its doesnt matter what they succeed or fail in militarily because Putin will spin it for the Russian people as victory if they can occupy just the eastern parts But because of the Ukrainian military success its unlikely we going to see them prepared to negotiate and I dont blame them considering the war crimes and carnage done to Ukrainian cities?
  8. The currency of a country is not the economy or reality of the strength of the economy. Its a factor in the economy and several factors influence the strength of currency but primarily selling and buying and the amount of that currency in circulation. Russia use to be the 10/11 strongest economy in the world with close to $700 billion dollars in foreign reserve, an actively traded stock exchange and a future as an energy provider to the likes of the EU. This has changed due to Putins War and much of this has been eroded but this erosion takes times and its impossible for any sanctions to have a real impact in less 9-12 months. Sanctions dont work like that when it comes to the economic impact But the biggest problem Russia is going to face is the disinvestment in its economy and its long-term economic growth. And once the West ends its dependency on Russian energy this is only going worse Other countries outside of Western countries can invest in Russia but you will find very few global Western companies and their partners ever investing in Russia going forward until Putin and Russia can be trusted again But to restore this trust its going to take years. But if you interested in the real impact of sanctions on the Russian economy dont worry about the strength of the Ruble but follow the Russian economic quarter data. That's how countries measure economic growth and decline Here is a link that highlights this and remember we are still not seeing the actual first quarter results but the Russian economy is expected to contract by 8-12% https://www.reuters.com/business/russias-gdp-decline-could-hit-124-this-year-economy-ministry-document-shows-2022-04-27/
  9. And you dont think a protracted war of attrition in Ukraine and a collapsed Russian economy will also lead to political instability ? In other words Putin can find a way to withdraw without losing face because the media narrative is state controlled and its not like the Russian people are going to overthrow his autocratic government either way?
  10. That has got to be one of the first times I can say I agree with almost everything when it comes to a list of twitter comments Very informative
  11. What a video, this is true skill
  12. @Hurlshot and @alanschu I think most of us recognize that in a country like the US their have been laws that have led to people being unfairly incarcerated for petty crimes that should not have led to them be jailed. For example some of the 3 strike outcomes are unfair and jailing people for cannabis possession is absurd because people, and particularly African Americans in some states, who are not criminals end up being sent to jail and become institutionalized criminals But lets be honest about a few things. The argument " prisons dont stop crime " is a false narrative and misunderstands the reason we have prisons in all our societies. Prisons exist primarily as consequence for both dysfunctional behavior and criminal behavior and they play a critical role in this Their are people in this world that wake up every morning who have wealth and access to resources but they could be rapists, pedophiles, mass shooters, violent gang members, extremists on both the left and right, unashamed fraudsters, murderers and other types of criminals. Many of them commit these heinous deeds because they enjoy it and want to do it ...they not forced to it and its not society making them They have a choice and their needs to be consequence for that choice These people must and should end up in prison and be removed from society so they cant cause more harm That's why prisons exist, it doesn't matter if prisons make money. That is not going to stop people committing crimes
  13. The thought of going to prison definitely helps with people who may want to break the law but knowing they face jail time and consequence means they less likely to break the law Whats the alternative, no prisons for criminal behavior?
  14. " arab spring in the EU " When I see one person in the EU setting themselves on fire and dying in the most agonizing way because of their Democratic , first world lifestyle I will believe you Internet and SM outrage and protests are not anything like the reasons for what started the Arab Spring
  15. Sanctions take time, 12-24 months in the case of Russia Lets see the Russian first quarter economic data before we say " no results " but whats more important than the sanctions is the economic sustainability of the EU. If they need to pay for gas in Rubles they must The broader sanctions will stay in place and this is long-term game
  16. You know auditing is an important and legal part of financial governance? Its one of the ways we prevent corruption and mismanagement in business
  17. If Musk takes over Twitter he must be one of the first people immediately fired You cant have someone working in a company at his level who doesn't understand why profitability matters Once he is fired he can start his own Twitter that is not profitable and focuses on his personal ideological views Freedom of speech doesnt mean intolerance and censorship to views on the other side
  18. Maybe they nervous because Sweden is about to join NATO and the worried what the US is going think if Swedish tractors cant be utilized in the Ukrainian war effort ?
  19. Yes but thats not confirmed stories, they make for interesting talking point and they ostensibly could be true But personally I dont have an absolute opinion on those types of stories that influences my view of Russia or Putin as a terrible leader until the stories are confirmed true For example until the Moskva sunk I didnt believe it was going to sink
  20. Dont sell it now if you worried about the current US economic slowdown or if property prices are dropping, the US economy will recover because the global inflation will end and supply chains will be fixed again Obviously if you need the revenue now thats a different reason but dont do it because you worried about the collapse of the US economy, thats extremally unlikely
  21. No Im not confused or uncertain by Russias war crimes or military failures. Their are literally dozens of embedded journalists in Ukraine and live footage is corroborated by numerous sources Their is real truth about most of Putins War except when it comes from the likes of RT and other Ruskie controlled media houses or links from Zerohedge like Dark posted So their is no real credibility concerns from my side
  22. Im still outraged by your governments failure to address the egregious KFC chicken smuggling cartels....Im also shocked citizens of NZ are not protesting in anger? Political and social apathy leads to turpitude and societal decay....trust me I know. Today we handwave KFC cartels....tomorrow we handwave the constitutional rights of sheep in NZ When will it end ?
