  1. It's extremely fast to do. If it doesn't make release, it'll never be changed, because it'd muck with the key mechanics and base assumptions that you usually don't want to change post-release. As far as changing it goes, it takes, like, 10 minutes. It's easy to do through a mod, but at that point, it's pretty much just cheating, and it may end up screwing with things down the line. If it's not changed by release, it's because they don't want to change it, for some unfathomable reason.
  2. Dunno. Maybe for the same reason why Native Americans don't really have beards but black/white etc. people do. Native Americans don't have beards? Not usually, no. Native americans are racially asian in origin, and have a hard time growing full beards.
  3. I may be drunk but I have no idea what you're asking for in the first question, but as for the second one (which I bolded), the answer is unfortunately no. There's no ammunition for any weapons, and no thrown weapons. So no Bullets of Detonation, Dispelling Arrows, Lightning Crossbow Bolts, or Poisoned Throwing Daggers.
  4. Definitely. Prey on the Weak was a very interesting, flavourful and useful Talent that allowed the Priests of Skaen to actually do something unique; other Talents should be moulded with this in mind, not Prey on the Weak be brought down to their level. Also, all movies should be skippable. For some reason, they're not, but they should be. Especially unskippable intro movies should be considered a capital offence in 2015.
  5. Rolling Flame is supposed to do FF. If you experienced otherwise, it's likely a bug/pathing error. I know Rolling Flame has had some (hilarious) pathing errors, especially when interacting with the seams in the world environment.
  6. Since you're in here monitoring, I just have to crawl out of the woodwork and tell you that this is a really awesome piece. Since you're obviously still tweaking, I can't wait to hear the final cut. Really, this is awesome. I love the switchover at 1:11, it flows nicely even when it's a stark cut with contrast. If I close my eyes, I can almost feel myself floating over the treetops and looking to the horizon or diving in amongst the trees, flowing down like a creek from the mountains.
  7. There's really no need to use more of the screen than you'd be able to grab with an L-shape.
  8. Shun the Nonbeliever!!! This just reminds me of BG2. I tried finding a recording of it online, but you'll just have to read it in the right voice.
  9. They more often than not screw with the Mouse Input. Isn't that their intended function? If one considers them detrimental in some way, you can always just remove them.
  10. As someone that doesn't think it looks very balanced at all (Resolve is now useless for anyone not going full defensive (and it's hilariously useless for Paladins, which you'd expect to do well with Resolve), Intelligence is overvalued for casters (and apparently Barbarians do amazingly with high Intelligence, which is just all kinds of what), Perception lost Accuracy even though it's probably not necessary any more, Interrupt makes little-to-no sense on Perception, and the jury is just straight out on Dexterity and Constitution, it's annoying as hell to not be able to test it out at all, simply because it's not working. It's hard to argue for or against something when you know for a fact that the basis for any arguments relating to the issue is on shaky ground, to say the least. Without a working foundation, we can't build those neat houses of cards.
  11. Testing out the attribute system is really not going to work on v435, it seems.
  12. There really was only one really consistent request; centred combat log. And still.. there it is. Combat log right in the middle of the worst possible place it could be.
  13. DR 10 against everything, except Pierce 13, Freeze and Burn 9. I agree, it's not very clear.
  14. "Combat only" prevents one of the more glaring problems that existed in the IE games... Pre-buffing. Which besides being exasperating caused all sorts of balancing issues. Pre-buff parties were magnitudes more powerful than parties who went in unbuffed. That being said, don't see any reason for modal abilities to be combat only. You're expending your per-day uses of spells (or abilities) that usually last a very short time. "Combat Only"-abilities does in no way, fashion, shape or form solve the "glaring problem" (sic!) of pre-buffing, because pre-buffing is already not a "problem" in PoE. Furthermore, this does not explain why so many classes are unable to initiate combat with an offensive ability, which they absolutely should be able to do, including the rogue being unable to gain the bonus from Reckless Assault, mechanical areas that have nothing to do with pre-buffing. The "Combat Only" mechanics are a steaming load of horse**** that forces the player to fight the system in order to do things that are absolutely and completely reasonable to do, and something you'd expect to be able to do based on the entire genre. At least the Engagement system has a small amount of merit and arguably makes a small amount of sense (however small those points may be). But "Combat Only" abilities - especially when it comes to modals and particularly auras - is complete and utter insanity. I really have no idea what they are thinking. It really is gamebreaking. It's not even one of those things in a game that you can offhandedly ignore, it's the worst kind of flaw, the kind that just sits there like a thorn in your side and constantly interferes with what you're trying to do, making you roll your eyes, sigh, and occasionally swear. I just can't wrap my head around what.. I just.. I want to tear out my hair and swear profusely and damn whomever came up with this to the point where I know I'd get banned. Because holy **** I can't get over how annoying this is and how much it wants me to take the game and hurl it into the wall for making no sense whatsoever on this. Any chance at all for a hotfix of the Interrupt issue(s)? You won't be able to get any relevant feedback on the attribute changes at all, without it. The changes to the Attributes is one of the major changes, and one of the major changes to the Attribute System deals directly with Interrupt. Just saying.
  15. If that's intended, that's completely and utterly crazy. Forcing someone to take time at the start of combat is an enormous gimping of the class concept. Mechanically, anyone is likely better off never taking any auras. I cannot get over how completely insane the "Combat Only" system is, especially for auras. I just can't drop it, it swirls and swirls in my head, my jaw wants to drop to the floor and my eyes fill with red. It is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever encountered in an otherwise mostly qualitative game.
  16. It's crazy how much better Gairnulf's mockup locks.
  17. Can I suggest a hotfix of the Interrupt issue? It's meaningless to test the Attribute changes when one of the major changes was adding Interrupt to Perception, when the Interrupt mechanics are broken. A lot of relevant feedback will be either wrong, distorted or meaningless.
  18. Depends on your mouse, I guess. I'm using Logitech, and I know that they come with a program that allows you to reassign the mouse buttons (Logitech Setpoint, although I'm not sure if they still use that for newer mouses/keyboards). I'd be surprised if there isn't a generic program out there that lets you reassign or re-interpret the generic "Mouse 1 though 5"-buttons too.
  19. I usually solve this by assigning mouse buttons to keyboard functions, and then making games call for those keyboard functions. For example, I've assigned Pg. Down, Pg. Up, Home and End to my mouse, and then I tell the game to use those for whatever.
  20. Thanks. Not completely happy with the HUD yet, and I imagine the blandness will be the primary criticism for this build since it's pretty much just a slab of wood right now. But I do think it cuts down on the noise and lets you focus on the functional parts of the UI, such as icons. Also the neutral colors play better with the background regardless of the colors of the environment. It's tricky business adding stuff down there since you want to stay out of the players way and let the environment take the spot light, but doing so without sacrificing interest or functionality. As for the segmented background bit, the block is composed up of 3 textures. One for the gradient + bevel, one for the wood texture which gets multiplied on top and one for the faint carving detail that runs horizontally. The first gets "sliced" up by Unity which allows us to scale it without resolution concerns, and the later 2 are tileable. It's built in a very modular way so I don't think modders will have a hard time editing it. Main criticism will probably be eye fatigue from not seeing the combat log and having to constantly shift down to the lower right and squint. FFS why are they even Combat Only? Why is "Combat Only" even a thing? This is seriously pissing me off. That's a pretty serious oversight if they want some relevant feedback on the attributes, really. All the feedback they'll get will be completely off, and it's leaps and bounds worse than the Accuracy issue.
  21. To be fair though, the mechanical effect of the day/night cycle in BG2 was so minor most people had no idea it existed (including me; I've played BG2 on and off since release, yet only found out like a month ago that it actually affected Stealth). Stealth is underwhelming bordering on the obscene in PoE to begin with, so Stealth not being affected by shadows/nighttime doesn't really matter or change anything. Yes, it's sad to see mechanical regression rather than evolution, but it's hardly a crime against nature. It would be nice to see it in PoE, along with other effects, such as reduced sight (double so in rain) and other things, for sure. I see no reason why the game should hold your hand. Yes, sometimes it makes sense to do that, like the ghost example, ghosts tend to become gossip, but if there's a mugging that you interfere with, a fence standing around a dark alleyway or an otter gathering nuts for it's dam at twilight, there's absolutely no reason you should be forewarned about it. If the day/night-cycle is to be meaningful, it shouldn't just be something you go to on principle, it should be a natural part of the game, and as such you shouldn't be forewarned or have your hand held just because you fear missing a quest. Finding stuff by accident is half the fun, stumbling across new things that you hadn't seen or thought about. Forewarning about quests depending on environmental changes... might as well hang a big "!" over the NPC:s heads.
  22. I just assumed that the Old Vailia Culture encompassed the Vailian Republics. None of the other cultures are defined as existing nations, for example the Aedyr Culture encompasses the Aedyr Empire and it's former colonies, Dyrwood and Readceras. And so on.
