Pillars of Eternity – Partnership FAQ for Backers
C2B replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
The mention of "boxed versions and special editions" as something that's not a sure thing makes me think Paradox might be taking a cut off the digital release of the game as well. If they are doing their own QA as well and some marketing that is not really a surprise. I can't imagine the cut a copy to be big though. -
I wouldn't say Obsidian wouldn't be good at Marketing and Distribution. (They're even expanding on that front with their Marketing + PR dep.) It's just a time investment that can be better used elsewhere.

? Do you mean this It's Not in the Writer's Manual: A Q&A Session for New Writers If so, the only thing what I was confirming was, that the tweet isn't from that panel. Which wouldn't make sense time-wise. That's why I said Forget it afterwards.
-
Forget it.

Yeah, but isn't that *just* a talk he visited?

Something Something And most important Yeah that's about it.

We already know they are working on one and will announce/publish it before PE's release. And the original GDC info was Katrina Schnell related who is most likely working on it. I'd say Kickstarter isn't that bad a bet.

Yeah, but they missed the mark. Decency and honor has no place in big business (as much as I personally would prefer it to be otherwise). Had the game sold poorly but reviewed well, I am sure Obsidian would still have collected that bonus, even though in that case it wouldn't have been decent for them to do so. Would I have liked Obsidian to get that bonus? Of course I would. I've been posting on these boards since they opened, so obviously I'm a fan of Obsidian. I just don't think we can paint Bethesda as the bad guy for simply upholding their contract. Basing contracts with contractors (who only get to operate based on said contracts) on something as arbitary and manipulative a score as metacritic IS a shady thing to do. *Big business* is NOT AN EXCUSE REGARDLESS OF ITSELF. You said it yourself *as much as you'd prefer it otherwise*. Shady things NEED to be called out. If it leads to publishers not making questionable Metacritic deals then thats great and what should happen. If you do nothing. NOTHING HAPPENS. And things stay in place. And no, it isn't enough if Obsidian changes their policies. Private developers aren't the ones in power during contract meetings. A publisher can say *Well, that's the deal, you don't like it. You leave* and move on to the next developer. Developers usually don't have that luxury unless they want to lay people off/fold. Edit: Not that Bethesda is the only one at fault here. It is an industry wide issue.

I immediatly thought of this

It even has bits that are setups for future storylines.

For expectations sake. Go into this movie expecting Veronica Mars. Not crime movie that stars Veronica Mars. Then you will be more than happy.

Currently downloading my kickstarter copy of the Veronica Mars movie. Excited to watch.

Mainly regarding the difficulty/combat systems. I've already vented about it though on another forum and got over it, so I'd rather not repeat. Easy difficulty is an often critizized issue with the game, but if you look at it deeper there's lots of things that don't make much sense about the combat/rpg systems. At least not with a change towards the end.

I've got the deductive reasoning. And I've got the game. In fact all the little things are just strengthening my suspicions. In the end though, bad (as well as good) publisher based decision changes happen through the entirty of game development. And since its THEIR money the publisher certainly has the right to influence design, regardless of the outcome. Thankfully now that we have alternate venues like Kickstarter I can be excited for pillars of eternity showing off Obsidian's chops and just be glad South Park and other games still release and the quality, despite shortcomings, still shines through.

Finding the game WAY too easy...
C2B replied to Satch's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
Also plugging http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/65536-re-balancing-patch/ As long as the game is supported we can still hope for one. Afterwards there's no chance so get demanding. -

If so, they could have made a less complex/varied battle system though and put that to better use. Not to mention the ideas behind several of the encounters (boss ones) is actually pretty interesting, but in the end doesn't make much of a difference. Thus, I'm reasonably sure that difficulty got toned down somewhat along the way. -
New Patch Notes?

Btw when did you get the patch? I seem to have missed it. -

I'm not sure the first patch broke the chinpokemon. There seemed to be some problems on second playthroughs after finishing the first. -
Wanna bet?
