  1. they are hurting them, as much, as the seconds hand sale of used cars is hurting car industry... it creates more new car sales... fighting this is the most stupid and ridiculous idea ever... This assumption is only true if people sell their games to stores, and then buy new copies of the game. Having worked in game stores, second hand game sales make a killing. And we'd happily buy back that used copy of the game, for some guy to buy a used copy of another new game that just came out.
  2. That is pretty much what Purkake said...
  3. That's no doubt a preferred method of treatment. But if you're going to excuse Polanski based on hardships in his past, you have to hold others to the same standards IMO. Unless you're pulling a Whoopi Goldberg.
  4. Is that the pricing model that they will be using?
  5. Just to be clear, you're saying that Valve completely revoked access to his Steam account because the account was compromised and was caught cheating?
  6. That makes perfect sense and I'd probably do the same. Where is Steam most prevalent? I have heard Europe, but that seems surprising in the face of its pricing.
  7. What Gfted1 said.
  8. I've never sold a second hand game either, so this also doesn't affect me. You are a very organized and meticulous person. I am not. Hence, Steam offers me very distinct advantages over physical media.
  9. Granted, but I still have the physical copy - wich I am quite certain will last longer than your Steam copies. Wich I did touch at in my previous post. To each his own. I am quite confident that my physical copies wouldn't last longer than my steam copies. Since I had already lost my physical copies. Basically though, you're stating that you feel that Steam is guaranteed to fail?
  10. I still have my ex-Obsidian dev games through Steam too, so that's somewhat of a moot point.
  11. It seems the piece of mind of feeling they aren't restricted from playing any game they have paid for at any time, without worrying about jumping through hoops. I can understand if someone is dead-set against DRM they shouldn't buy games through Steam.
  12. By everyone you mean companies like Stardock and Gamer's Gate, right? Though unskilled's comment is more directed towards those interested in DD, not so much playing games with Steamworks on them.
  13. Elaborate.
  14. Actually this makes it seem pretty clear.
  15. Some weird derivation of Godwin's Law?
  16. He blamed Valve for the lack of an actual comic because he couldn't get into Garry's Mod to make it.
  17. It's already been demonstrated in this thread that this is not true.
  18. To me Minsc was dumb. Good hearted, entertaining, but still just not very bright. Steven Heck doesn't strike me as a dumb person. Just a psychotic one.
  19. Lighting is a valid complaint. All I see are shadows on the ground which is hardly impressive. The ground though? IMO that's people just looking for something to nitpick on. I see rocky terrain with reddish dirt strewn along it. Viewed at an angle without specific focus on it. If this is what people need to pick on to complain, then either they're just looking for more ammo, or it's more of a comment that there was nothing else that could be pointed out.
  20. I agree, but it's a double edged sword. Take those screenshots and say Obsidian made them, and people here would be defending them. Frankly I think the technical quality of the characters look fine. To me there's a lack of geometry in the scene in general to really make a qualitative assessment of the graphical capabilities of this game. I think most people complaining about the graphics are probably more not fans of the art style. But like the one fellow was complaining about the ground texture, but it looks like a rocky ground with reddish sand/dirt strewn upon it. Given the area appears to be some sort of a wasteland, I'm not sure what more he was expecting.
  21. Statistics guarantees that it will happen again if you try an sufficiently large number of times.
  22. No, something that has zero chance of happening shouldn't happen in the natural world.
  23. Makes more sense than magical supernatural. But people will believe what they want to believe.
  24. I do find it ironic that in spite of his protests against companies that don't allow people to properly own their product, he'd even utilize Garry's Mod for his webcomic. He serves his point with his current webcomic. It's too bad he doesn't seem to actually adhere to the very principles he claims to be interested in. By using Garry's Mod and the Source Engine, he financially supports Valve and Steam. A service that does the very stuff he vows to not financially support in other posts. Who needs principles I guess though, right? Especially when he can make some money using Garry's Mod.
