  1. Because Obsidian clearly only catered to the Super Mutant/Ghoul fetishists crowd and didn't care about people who like disproportionate visages with bug eyes, Kaftan. And while I don't share your hate-on on anime, I can't understand why people would mod things like that. It's just.. urgh.
  2. Weapon skills affect damage just as in Fallout 3.
  3. Nope. Designers that use this kind of reasoning should be beaten until they bleed from their eye sockets.
  4. The Fallout Wiki doesn't ignore Tactics, not at all. The game has plenty of meticulously written entries, heck, even Fallout:PoS has a lot of articles there. Since the game got the aesthetic wrong and gets only minor references in Fallout 3, the Wiki's stance on it is that the main events of the game are considered canon, but not the details.
  5. To be honest, yeah, Fallout 1 was humorous too, but it was a different kind of humor from Fallout 2, and most of the post-apocalypse tropes were actually played straight. That said, I'd say that Fallout New Vegas lies somewhat in between the original two, while Fallout 3 tried to recapture Fallout 1's atmosphere but ended up hampered by some really bad world building and writing.
  6. Nope. It's an armor worn by NCR Veteran Ranger.
  7. Fallout never had a Stalker-ish atmosphere, not even Fallout 1. So people should search that type of atmosphere elsewhere.
  8. It also qualifies as extremely boring and useless gameplay footage though.
  9. ...so where's the gameplay? I'm seeing lots of dialogues and Hawke running in circles..
  10. The T-45d armor of the Brotherhood doesn't work as a disguise. Not sure if it's a bug or it's intended (considered that it's a quest reward).
  11. It doesn't load slowly for me. Then again, if the guy's playing it on a console.. New Vegas Nexus incline?
  12. You also get Power Armor training if you do Arcade's quest I think. Also the Brotherhood T-51b disguises you as a member of the Brotherhood.. which means NCR attacks you on sight.
  13. It's a nod to Fallout 3 (since their justification for the difference in color palette was pretty much that the Capital Wasteland was super bombed).
  14. Basically you know when Mr. House sends you in the bunker inside the Fort to upgrade his army with the Chip? Caesar gives you back the Chip and sends you to do the job without even thinking about sending one of his legionnaires there with you to check what you're doing. Granted, we could just assume that it's an error on Caesar's part, but it clashes quite a bit with his genius-like extremely charismatic character.
  15. I don't know why you translate what I said in 'the writers don't enjoy their work'. It's certainly not what I've written.
  16. AFAIK it still isn't out in Japan. I think its release date there is Nov. 5th or something like that. Wikipedia doesn't provide news on the subject so I'll have to scavenge to find the date.
  17. Zenimax cannibalizing the Japanese market too?
  18. You've already played it?
  19. Boone + ED-E is a damn deadly combination. Raul was pretty helpful too, I must say. Lily.. I used for like a couple of minutes, but she didn't seem impressive and she didn't suite my playstyle anyway. Still haven't tried Cass, Arcade and Veronica (I still have to find Veronica!). Also, is there anyone that can clarify me if there's an explanation for the plot hole at The Fort?
  20. Don't worry, you're in good company, the vast majority of video games writers don't get it either. Still, the difference between narrating a story and making the player interact with it should be pretty clear. It is to me, at least.
  21. I'm happy about the news guys but just try to remember that VGChartz is not a reliable source 'kay?
  22. More like they're clearly writing power fantasies based on the wants of a large section of the RPG crowd. There's nothing inherently bad with that, in fact, most RPG developers, Obsidian included, do that. But I seriously doubt they're so enthusiastic about rewriting the same type of tale the millionth time.
  23. You guys realize that Bioware is a company that makes video games right? The writers are not writing the stories they want to write in the first place, so it's not like that objection makes any sense. A writer pointing his feet on the ground and saying 'I want to write this character again' is pretty much like a girl inserting an original character in a fanfiction. It's jarring.
